    • Obama is proposing to invest more than $750 million in the communities, to provide a tax incentive for private investments that will provide for new jobs and homes, according to a press release.

How about cutting taxes instead of spending our money?!

Who will decide which entities get those “incentives”?

      • Instead of listing it as Promise Zones, which I can promise you we will never see where exactly that money will be spent.
I feel starting projects in different areas. The project would be to clean up certain areas. Get rid of empty trashed houses. Spend the money fixing up the the buisness outside appearance. Same time fix a bridge, road, etc. This would bring in jobs for people. It will also draw new buisness in the area, therefore draw in more costumers. All this work would show the tax payer where the money went and how it was spent!!!

    • Another boondoggle loaded with graft, and that amount of money will result in diddly. Is this something Congress has to approve or is it part of his discretionary funds?

    • Imagine the horror if Obama had a twin brother. This is the nightmare America is facing with the radicalLaRaza Castro twins. Joaquin in Congress and mayor Julian…who could conceivably be the next Governor of Texas. G-d help us!

  1. The first line from the Promise Zone official website reads:
“A child’s zip code should never determine her destiny”

Geez! Someone call Brenda and Brandon and the rest of the folks in 90210 that their zip code shouldn’t help them out

Of Course the gov’t will spend a lot of money on this but it hates Charter schools.

    • That is what I always say about the TV people, no matter what channel. The other day, I forget who but it was MSNBC (shocker), someone said, “Of course this is easy for us to say, we have good jobs.” EXACTLY.

  2. “Meets with members of Congress”…???
So Obama will read a statement/talk down to them, no questions-discussion allowed and then walk out.

    • My understanding is that one of the zones is in Eastern Kentucky. Ironic since most of the people there have lost their jobs due to his EPA policies affecting coal mining. Wonder if Those people will be standing behind him during his remarks…

As Rand Paul said, wonder why Detroit is not one of the zones. It’s in major decline.

      • Car In will be glad to hear that in the WSJ is said many miners are being recruited out of Kentucky to Indiana and places like that where the coal is not tapped out and is easier to get.

    • That should be filmed live. The congressman should forget about their lobbiest and stand up and ask all THE QUESTIONS we have! If O talks in circles, another congressman needs to stand up and ask again. If O gets fed up and walks off, that will show the answer…………………………..

      • I have contacted my Congressmen’s offices and have asked why the Rep & Sens havent ask some questions/demand answers from the Obama regime (Benghazi, why wont Rep/Sen sign-up for Obamacare, etc.)
        They hung up on me.

        • Here is another example: They should have more town hall meetings instead of raising money for the lobbiest.
There are enough people who work for them. Let them sit with the lobbiest and the people in office meet with the citizens more often.

        • You keep saying a Cong office hung up on you–literally? In my days on the Hill, that would not have happened–short shrift, turfed someplace else, but a hang up?

          • The “Rep” and both “Sens” of Congress here are sycophant Democrats for Obama.
Of course their offices ‘hang up’ on me when I try to ask real questions/demand real answers (I never “voted” for them or Obama)
Im just one of those ‘igorant, biased, racist, terrorist, Conservative-Tea Party’ types :-)

  3. “Promise Zones”? More government picking winners and losers.
But that aside, Obama and “promise” no longer belong in the same sentence. Unless of course, that sentence is “empty” of truth.

  4. Promise Zones.
If you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan.
If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.
Obamacare will be $2,500 less than your current health plan.
Barack Hussein Obama, Worst US President, ever…

  5. Ironic that Obama’s think tank people chose the words Promise Zones. I would like to know how they came up with that wording. It evokes the term Promised Land for me. There’s a book from 1992 called The Promised Land, The Great Black Migration and How it Changed America. There are movies called Promised Land, but for me, primarily it evokes the biblical quotes that start in Genesis.

It’s all a word game to Obama. Make his sheeple think he’s giving them something grand. What a hoax.

    • Well, in the Biblical Promised Land they walked around in circles for forty years and most of the original group never saw the Promised Land. I wonder if this will be another forty year experiment to determine if the people who are promised all these wonderful things will learn a lesson. Since history repeats itself I have a feeling these “zones” will look more like Detroit than one flowing with milk and honey.
