In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Quote of the Day || December 17, 2013

“Let’s be clear: even though I’ll be in Hawaii, I’ll still doing the same things I do as president. You know, like sleeping in and playing lots of golf.”

– Barack Obama

    1. Brian responded I am taken by surprise that a stay at home mom able to get paid $9920 in 4 weeks on the internet. go to website>>> WWW.TEC80.COM

  1. Just remember this! A majority of the voting electorate put this person, for he is no man, in office. It shares responsibility, as well as those WHO DID NOT VOTE! The democrat party, which gives lie to the meaning of democracy, is equally culpable, enabled by those who put these liars in office, as well as those WHO DID NOT VOTE!
    QED; people get the government they deserve, especially when they do not participate. Sic transit gloria America!

    1. I don’t share your pessimism.

      America survived FDR for a decade and change, and here we are.

      If i may, a bit of Eastern thought…

      When you do an I Ching reading, you start with fifty yarrow stalks and gradually work your way down to 36, 32, 28, or 24 to get each of the six lines in a gua. Since you’re working with groups of 4, you count the number of groups of 4, so it’s either 6, 7, 8, or 9. Yang numbers are odd, and since Yang is about the active, 9 is “Greater Yang” and 7 is “Lesser Yang.” Yin numbers are even, but since Yin tends to be passive, 6 is “Greater Yin” and 8 is “Lesser Yin.”

      But you’re really drawing two gua; the one you get from the yarrow, and the other, from changing lines in the other gua.

      And it is the 6’s and 9’s, the “Greater” numbers, which change. 9 changes to Yin, 6 to Yang. The idea behind that, in Eastern thought, is that extremes tend to give rise to their opposites. FDR ultimately paved the way for Eisenhower; Carter gave rise to Reagan; and so on.

      I believe that once America has experienced Too Much Government, and experienced it good and hard, that there will be a renaissance of American liberty, and so soon we’ll marvel at the pessimism of today.

      1. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. When the traveler has become complacent, too indolent, to act because government provides him with all, the journey ends before the first step. Yin, yang cannot function in the absence of personal resolve.
        This is the only nation which brought the three major races and their ethnic subgroups, however forcefully, their creeds, however angrily, into common, if begrudging, peace. Tyler is correct, as is Adams.
        The great experiment has run its course; a victim of its own wretched success. Hatred does not extinguish the love; indifference is the instrument that kills.

      2. Darkangel, I envy your optimism, but the world was a very, very different place in FDR’s time. People were different. Beliefs were different. Sadly, I believe the West, and the world, is in the midst of a downward spiral into a new and dreadful Dark Age.

        1. Then let me put this as bluntly as possible, and this question is intended to shock, so all due apologies in advance.

          If you think it’s all over–the American idea, the spirit of liberty, heck, ALL OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION–then why are you letting yourself and your loved ones stay alive to see it all collapse? If the best days are behind us, and there is no hope of ever getting back to them, then isn’t the only consequential question left, how best to take your own life?

          Again, apologies for the bluntness, but do you see where that’s going?

          I’m not telling you to harm yourself, not even close. I’m telling you, if you’re still alive, hold on. If you value freedom, hold on. If you have any faith whatsoever in humanity, hold on. If you believe the sun will come out tomorrow, hold on. If you believe the world is worth your presence, hold on.

          Don’t tell me it’s the end of everything.
          It always seems the darkest before the light.
          So fragile, and breaking apart,
          Finding solace in the knowledge of what’s right;
          All that’s holy, sacred and divine,
          Guarding over all within its sight;
          Don’t tell me it’s the end of everything.
          It always seems the darkest before the light.

          Google the rest, and pay close attention to the part about “There’s glory in the epic of life.”

  2. Keith, I just read “Obamas eloquent tribute to Christmas”. You are a kind person and I have noticed that you sometimes appreciate the President a tiny tad more than most of your readers. But to me these words coming from him sound just hollow and like politics as usual. I am sorry but he sounds mocking whatever he says and at least I start thinking, well, what was his ( and his handlers ) hidden agenda this time ?? I can never take anything straight to my heart.

      1. Agreed. Anything Obama says about Christianity is taqiyya, as far as I’m concerned.

        Perhaps Obama, being a “Christian”, is familiar with this passage?

        “A Tree and its Fruit
        15″Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
        16″You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?
        17″So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.…”

        Matthew 7:15-17

        Obama’s bourne nothing but bitter fruit for the world. Between his support for those things antethetical to Biblical teaching and his actual persecution of those who stand up for their own Christian beliefs, he’s given us no reason to believe this does not pertain to him. Also, he’s done nothing but divide and confuse. Such as this is not from the Lord, but from His Nemesis.

        Were Obama really into this Christian thing, he’d have to pay some attention to the red-letter parts in the Bible, such as this one;

        “The Way, the Truth, and the Life
        6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
        -John 14:6

        Obama once famously said “There are many paths to Heaven”. Many people do believe so, and Obama is certainly welcome to believe so himself; however, he should be aware that stating that belief is in direct contradition of the statement by Christ above – and the one distinguishing feature of Christianity is that you are kinda expected to listen to the guy the religion is named after. By stating that, he’s saying he believes other than what Christ has directly told him. I know Obama likes to rewrite laws to suit himself, but that’s ONE Boss who WILL hold him to the letter of the law, and not all the truculent ravings of Harry Reid nor the craven kowtowing of John Roberts will change HIS mind…

        There’s one other Bible passage Obama may want to reread, since he’s on this newfound Christianity kick;

        “God’s Wrath against Sin
        27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
        28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper”
        Romans 1:27-28

        (all Bible quotes

        Not red letter, but still part of the New Testament that Obama has suddenly rediscovered. It would seem to suggest that his support of the differently coital is a bit misguided…

        Nope, not buying Obama’s Chirstmas story. Or any of his other stories. One day, I hope the story of Obama is nothing more than a scary one, used to frighten children away from Socialism and radical Islam. Other than that, nothing the man says or does should be taken as having any use, as it is berift of any believabilty…

        Respect and trust are earned, not granted. He’s never earned either, and will get none from me. Sorry, IMHO, it’s just another lie, on a stack of lies, smothered in a lie sauce and served with a generous portion of mendacity. I stand with your previous statement, Mr. Koffler, that you wouldn’t trust this bunch to ae accurate if they told you night had fallen…

    1. Hiya. I take no pleasure in my pessimism. It is a simple case of …fool me thrice.

      (Other than that, enjoy your perspective and sharing)

        1. I don’t think there is a sincere caring bone in either of the
          Obama’s they are cold and self serving. She wore her very
          special $6800.00 suit of armor how nice families her husband
          screwed out of their insurance at Christmas could use that for a premium. I wonder if she’s that foolish or does it on purpose.

    1. I just read on Drudge that Mr. O will meet with Tech giants over survellance. This meeting comes a week after group of Technology Companies jointly penned a letter to lash out at Mr. O. administration for collecting information on AMERICANS. They want to see greater oversight of the Government surveillance operations & compel companies to disclose data about the companies. They will review & report will be made public in January. (AFTER the X-Mas Vacation)

      1. Gen Hayden was on MJ (my recording problem was not Prism’s fault, by the way). Anyhow, you could tell Hayden was barely holding it together in thinking his approach was superior to the ideas of some dopey judge (in questiioning the hoovering of records)–you know these people want to pat us on the head and say, “Don’t worry–we’ve got it covered. I heard Alexander said something kinda bitter–like we are just trrying to protect you from the killers that walk among you. I don’t have the exact quote. But the bottom line is–we know best, shut up.

  3. My Uncle Evan just got a nice twelve month old Nissan Leaf just by working online from home… go right here >>>
    Thanks for watching and share this link with your job less friends
    link is below here

  4. I would like a list every six months or so, of where tax money has been spent. This is on a local and national list.
    This would include the cost of the Hawaii trip. The cost of everything there is very expensive.
    I had suggested the the O family take a trip to visit his Uncle hear in America, and have a family barbacue or Turkey meal instead.
    If he would like to go to Hawaii instead, fine: First show the American citizens how he is going to pay for EVERYTHING himself.
    The Tax papers paying for this is unfair!

    1. It’s a lot cheaper to have Obama on one of his five-star vacations than to have him in the Spite House cooking up new ways to destroy us. If they took his phone away, I’d have absolutely NO problem with paying him lavishly to stay the he!! AWAY…

  5. How is it that a guy raised mostly in the warm, balmy islands surrounded by angry waters, doesn’t surf? There’s no mention of him surfing in any of his histories, nor does he reference it at any time.

    Surfing, or beach living seems to be the favorite activity of the young in Hawaii, but MrO…again….was an outlier to that common experience.

    1. It seems that Barry was an outlier to most common experiences. Maybe he didn’t surf because he’s too afraid of sharks. Or maybe he just couldn’t see any benefit in it to his dear self.

    2. Surfing is a skill that has to be acquired with work and dedication. These are not things Obama has any interest in.

      Also the ability to surf can’t be granted you as a boon by others to serve their own political purposes. Since there’s no George Soros or Bill Ayers that can grant him this ability, he’ll never have it. Don’t make him mad about it by reminding him of yet another of his inadequacies, however, or he’ll just use Obamacare to outlaw it for others…

    1. Gee whiz, do they have to quote her verbatim? “you guys, me and x , and other indications that she can’t speak a whole sentence without sounding like a high school dropout.
      What’s astounding is that she was educated and trained as a attorney who would write legal documents and probably defend someone in court.
      . Can you imagine her addressing your jury as “you guys”?

      Something (well most of it) sounded odd: she claimed that Sunny, the dog, hasn’te experienced snow yet. How’s that happen in DC where they’ve already had plenty of snow to frolic in? Do the O’s dogs have an indoor, um, toilet?
