In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Carney: “I Haven’t Seen Arne’s Full Comments”

Oh please. Somebody get me out of Washington. Does anyone have a room for rent in Nebraska?

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney Monday showcased one typical Washington way not to answer a question: Profess ignorance.

He employed the tactic Monday when asked if Education Secretary Arne Duncan was appropriate in invoking race when he sneered at “white suburban moms” for complaining about the Common Core education standards.

Said Carney:

I haven’t talked to the president about this issue and I haven’t seen Arne’s full comments.

Hasn’t seen his full comments? You mean like, since Duncan took office?

Anyway, Carney then immediately belied his own assertion by obviously reading a prepared response:

But if his point was that we need to be honest with kids and parents about whether we’re providing the skills they need to succeed, I think we can all agree on that.

If his point was? The White House doesn’t have Arne’s phone number to find out his address? His email account? Is the White House friends with him on Facebook at least?

So Carney knew enough to generate some spin, but not to answer the question. Got it.

  1. Has I mentioned on a different thread. I did not appreciate Duncan’s comment. I will calling my wonderful Mom in a moment to see if she saw that in the news. As I mentioned earlier my mom was a wonderful working woman of the early 60’s to chose to raise her kids in the suburbs.

    1. I think the implication was not about the burbs, but that “overprivileged” white women who live in the burbs would only criticize a school policy bec it made their children look bad. Many parents of all skin hues are duking it out with these blanket policies and weird, unwarranted policies generated within schools or within school districts. Someone sent me a story about a textbook that left Israel off the map of the Middle East! Come on!

      1. I mentioned this just yesterday: My son and his two friends were punished for pointing out the history teacher was teaching the complete wrong facts of how Hitler came into power.

        1. Make a stink about it. Demand the principal correct the teacher. If that doesn’t work, call in to a local talk radio show and expose the revisionist history the school is teaching and condoning, and finally hire a lawyer and sue the school for punishing your son. Mental punishment can be just damaging as physical punishment to a child, especially when they are on the right side of history.

  2. I live in Nebraska – I think we can find a place for you to rent pretty easily. However, we still have access to the outside world and hear what goes on in Washington.

  3. Obama’s just as bad as Carney when asked “hard” questions with answers like…. “just read it in the news”, “don’t have all the information”, “nobody’s madder than I am, and will get to the bottom of this”. Sound familiar ?

Carney’s just a loyal employee, I can’t blame him entirely. I’m starting to think that there are many “hostage” situations under Obama’s icky Chicago-style leadership and pay for play tactics. Ugh.

  4. Please don’t leave DC yet, Keith. You’re our sentry of truth in the cesspool of deceit that is Washington, D.C. As Preezy’s Big Lie is exposed to more and more Americans, the regime will frantically attempt to cover for him with subterfuge and feigned ignorance. The Carney Barker’s performance is just more evidence of the flailing stooges covering for their master.

  5. Anytime the citizens arise and speak up, the insults blow right back.

It’s like a nanny shoving a plate of chopped liver and onions in front of you and saying, “You’re gonna eat it, and you’re gonna like it!”

  7. In an email sent out by Obama for America, Jim Messina, the President’s campaign director, praised supporters saying it was their hard work that made the campaign a success. He then directed people to take a short survey saying, “Your feedback is crucial in determining how we continue to work together.”

Those taking the survey are asked to identify which constituency group they belonged to. Among the choices were African Americans, Arab Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Jewish Americans, Native Americans and LGBT members.
However, there is not similar box for “white” despite other ethnicities being mentioned. While there is a box for “women” males are not listed as a constituency for the campaign.

Last year, The New York Times reported that the Democratic party had appeared to abandon white middle class voters.

“For decades, Democrats have suffered continuous and increasingly severe losses among white voters. But preparations by Democratic operatives for the 2012 election make it clear for the first time that the party will explicitly abandon the white working class.

  8. Duncan’s stunning interview with Charlie Rose, 2009:

Kids should be in school 12, 13, 14 hours a day, six or seven days a week, for the entire 12 months. The sessions should include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Talk about indoctrination! The guy is delusional. Also, Obama handed him an unprecedented $5B for his endeavors.

Ignorance is one thing Obama will never run short of.

  10. Well, when the government and the unions run our schools, you can be sure our children are not having their educational needs met. When teachers pass students who cannot read, write, do arithmetic or know the history of their own country, b/c the time is spent teaching some bureaucractic b.s requirement of diversity training, sex ed, or some other kind of p.c. crap, how could anyone expect a kid to know the basics?

    1. I clearly recall Michelle saying (in one of her speeches prior to the 2008 election) that they would “rewrite history.”
Dumb people in positions of power do not want improvement – they want everyone dumbed down to their intelligence level. Just look at the “folks” we have in DC….the finest collection of dumbed down on the face of the earth – media included, except Keith.

      1. May 14, 2008 speech in San Juan, Puerto Rico
MICHELLE OBAMA: “Barack knows that we are going to have to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history; we’re going to have to move into a different place as a nation.”
Video of speech is on YouTube – sorry, cannot provide link.

  11. “I haven’t talked to the president about this issue and I haven’t seen Arne’s full comments”

So saith the Minister of Propaganda. How can these liars live with themselves?

  12. Keith, if you’d like to escape DC you’re always welcome here in the People’s Republic of Ann Arbor, where every other car is a Prius with a “Hope” bumper sticker.

  13. Where a tax deduction for improvements can decrease the income that the
tax is payable, a tax credit decreases the tax itself.
In the time you have taken to read this article, you could have made
the vinyl roof repair on your car. You brook
and try to ignore the ail that you feel which is caused by the ugly foot warts that have a string along all the toes.
