In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

    1. I’ve noticed that the first (?) Muslim congressman has been taking a prominent role on various panel discussions lately, along with Mexican congressman. Xavier Becerra, the radical Reconquista from CA. Both of them clean up nicely, are fairly articulate, and both are very dangerous.
***Becerra, imo, is the most dangerous radical in the entire administration. He is ambitious and ruthless – I know of what I speak. Never take your eyes off this guy.

  1. Things going on while we’re all focused on the downfall of our nation’s economy:

    Iran’s getting the big one.

Coal-fire plants in the TVA are being shut down.

    We be fucked.

    1. NewYorkPost claims that employees of the Census Bureau “faked” the unemployement figures before the 2012 elections. !!
      Is our whole government corrupt?

      @Drudge. I can’t link for some reason.

      1. I will always believe that Hilda Solis, the CA Reconquista Labor Secretary, had somethmg to do with the magic number 7.8. Obama plucked her from the CA cesspool of radicals. Addtionally, she had her husband had not paid taxes on their tiny auto body repair business for years.
We have never seen corruption on this level – ever.

      1. To those who think Common Core is not important because you have no children directly affected by it, do you not have (or, hope to have) grandchildren? Do you have any neices and nephews? Siblings? God-children?

Even if you have none of the above, are you not concerned about a federal program that has shown itself, repeatedly, to be a tool for Marxism?

        1. You are absolutely right. The biggest mistake we conservatives have made is that we let the progressives take over education. We are reaping the whirlwind now. Not sure that we can turn it around.

        2. The MSM has not covered it as much as Obamacare and the Obama scandals (I’m stopping enumerating them). Thanks to someone who linked Michelle Malkin’s article on Common Core yesterday. Some people who are willing to vote for any Republican to keep a Democrat out of the WH ought to read Malkin’s articles on Jeb Bush’s involvement in Common Core. I will never vote for that man, and now I have two grounds upon which to make that statement: his stance on immigration and his involvement, monetary and otherwise, in this education debacle.

    1. They said that saving Grenada from terror and totalitarianism was the wrong thing to do – they didn’t blame Cuba or the communists for threatening American students and murdering Grenadians – they blamed the United States instead.

But then, somehow, they always blame America first.

When our Marines, sent to Lebanon on a multinational peacekeeping mission with the consent of the United States Congress, were murdered in their sleep, the “blame America first crowd” didn’t blame the terrorists who murdered the Marines, they blamed the United States.

But then, they always blame America first.

When the Soviet Union walked out of arms control negotiations, and refused even to discuss the issues, the San Francisco Democrats didn’t blame Soviet intransigence. They blamed the United States.

But then, they always blame America first.

When Marxist dictators shoot their way to power in Central America, the San Francisco Democrats don’t blame the guerrillas and their Soviet allies, they blame United States policies of 100 years ago.

But then, they always blame America first.

      The American people know better.

They know that Ronald Reagan and the United States didn’t cause Marxist dictatorship in Nicaragua, or the repression in Poland, or the brutal new offensives in Afghanistan, or the destruction of the Korean airliner, or the new attacks on religious and ethnic groups in the Soviet Union, or the jamming of western broadcasts, or the denial of Jewish emigration, or the brutal imprisonment of Anatoly Shcharansky and Ida Nudel, or the obscene treatment of Andrei Sakharov and Yelena Bonner, or the re-Stalinization of the Soviet Union.

The American people know that it’s dangerous to blame ourselves for terrible problems that we did not cause.

They understand just as the distinguished French writer, Jean Francois Revel, understands the dangers of endless self- criticism and self-denigration.

He wrote: “Clearly, a civilization that feels guilty for everything it is and does will lack the energy and conviction to defend itself.”

With the election of Ronald Reagan, the American people declared to the world that we have the necessary energy and conviction to defend ourselves, and that we have as well a deep commitment to peace.

And now, the American people, proud of our country, proud of our freedom, proud of ourselves, will reject the San Francisco Democrats and send Ronald Reagan back to the White House.

  2. When he asks the senators why Iran, someone should reply because America needed a really incompetent son of a bitch to bring the nation to the brink of destruction to help its citizens realize how valuable America is.
WSJ CEO/Hagel meetings conflict. Oh,well, the miracle man can speak from each side of his mouth to address each.

      1. The reporters at the Daily Mail, while unfailingly polite and respectful of Obama, nevertheless always manage to insert a bit of snark into each article. I think they secretly despise him, and enjoy posting the most unflattering pictures available of Barry and especially the Mooch. The comments following the articles about Barry and Me-Chelle are well worth a read, they are always about 90% critical.

  3. So this “schedule” is the reason Obama is not going to the 150th Anniversery of Gettysburg…???

Not that I want this anti-American anywhere Gettysburg.

    1. Well after I thought about it why let him take over the anniversary
and make it all about himself. Let it remain pure and not sully the
      memory with Mr I Me.

      1. Well said.
I know a few Civil War history scholars and they dont want Obama anywhere near the place as you so correctly said to “sully the memory”.

    2. I’m thinking that Obama views the Civil War as a war between whites. If it had been a black liberation war won by the slaves themselves, he’d be out there today. He did try to portray himself as another Abraham Lincoln–remember the hype about the Spielberg movie last year and how the Obamas tried to pimp off of it?–but now he’s decided he’s even better than Lincoln. Why should he praise that old white guy, Abraham Lincoln? Racism is on the rise in this country, but it’s not white racism against black. It’s the other way around. See also Oprah Winfrey and Arne Duncan.

    3. I saw that they are blaming the web site issue for not going to Gettysburg. Like I said before, and agree with “Spook”, I am glad he’s staying away.

What really pisses me off is you now see what BO has scheduled for the day and a 1/2 day trip would have been a breeze for him. Nothing really pressing for him to skip town. However it would have made a total mess of the local area.

  5. Evolution is important in design, of course, but I would have preferred something more creative than simply putting a popular gusset style on an existing bag. For the price of a Balenciaga design, customers should expect a little more creativity. The Papier bags were a nice evolution on the Motorcycle style, and I’m sure that there are other avenues that can be taken to explore the Motorcycle aesthetic further. I’m pretty sure that none of those avenues lead to the Celine design studio.

  6. This bag, though, just doesn’t do it for me. Is it doing anything for you, and does it remind you of anything in particular? Play our Fill in the Blank game in the comments, or .With anticipation for the film version of The Great Gatsby reaching a fever pitch, fashion people are talking about the movies even more than usual. Miuccia Prada personally oversaw the gorgeous 1920s-era wardrobing for the film, and based on the trailers, it’s indeed full of deco gorgeousness the likes of which hasn’t been seen since…well, since the Gatsby era. If it were up to us (and if we had received an invitation), we’d certainly be taking something sparkly and Leiber-esque to the premiere, but for a more casual film fete, we think the Charlotte Olympia Movie Night Shoulder Bag would make the perfect companion.Well, the Loewe Poppy Sheep Amazona Bag looks cuddly, for lack of a better word.

  7. Hermes has an interesting product category on its website called “” that is updated periodically with new pieces that range from breathtaking to oddball. It currently contains a that retails for over $7,000 and a that will cost you in excess of 20 Gs. Most interesting to us, though, is this simple little reversible tote, covered on one side by either Porosus crocodile or Mississippiensis alligator, depending on the size you choose.
