President Obama claims his administration is all about helping the middle class. But that’s not really true. This administration is about transfer payments to the lower class. It’s about redistributing wealth. And ultimately, it’s about contempt for the hard work that it takes to make it into the middle class and stay there.
Once in awhile, the veneer drops, and the truth emerges. Obama’s justifiably infamous “you didn’t build that” tirade comes to mind.
It dropped again Friday when Education Secretary Arne Duncan said this about opposition to the new “Common Core” education standards:
It’s fascinating to me that some of the pushback is coming from, sort of, white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were, and that’s pretty scary. You’ve bet your house and where you live and everything on, ‘My child’s going to be prepared.’ That can be a punch in the gut.
Just look at the simmering contempt that has bubbled up to the surface here.
The White House likes to deny that it engages in class warfare for political purposes. Well, those who make the charge are wrong only in the sense that it’s not just for political purposes. Class warfare is how this administration thinks.
White House suburban moms are, demographically speaking, the cornerstone of the middle class. Obama wants their vote. But that’s really all he wants to do with them.
I have news for you, Mr. Duncan. I know some of these suburban moms, white and otherwise. They are working their asses off, making sacrifices, juggling myriad obligations, and enduring limitless doses of stress to make it all work.
Criticism of the Common Core educational standards centers on their emphasis on “critical thinking,” which evens the playing field between these women’s hardworking children and the slackers. Critical thinking is subjective. Memorizing historical facts and learning your multiplication tables is not. The latter takes a lot more studying.
Mr. Duncan came out of Chicago with Obama. They’re friends. They are of the same mind.
And at bottom, they despise the very middle class moms whose tax dollars, culled from the fruit of hard work, are funding their schemes.
But in the end – and this is the problem with Socialism – they will kill the goose laying the golden eggs.

Parents, students, teachers are shocked that their school district’s participation in the Ed Dep’t’s “Race to the TOP” grants and challenges have been used to claim that schools, somehow, approve of the subtle, but pervasive ‘Gov’t’ take-over of American education. We can all educate Americans across the Nation about what is happening in tax-supported public schools.
Urban struggling public schools need a ‘Hands-Up’ toward preparing students, not a ‘dumbing down of the curriculum and skills’ needed for becoming successful independent citizens for life. jb

As I recall, shortly after Arne left for Washington to become SecEd, approximately 15 or more schools closed in Chicago for failing to meet academic standards set by Chicago’s own BdEd.
Continuing his legacy of success, Mayor Rahm Emanuel during this summer closed another 10 or more schools for the same reasons coupled with low attendance.
That’s success the Chicago way.
Valerie Jarrett is a former slumlord that lined her bank account rather than maintain her homes in livable condition. Seems to be a requirement for this administration to be miserable failures in their previous “jobs”, but got rich anyway.
But they aren’t miserable failures in the eyes of liberals because being a criminal and corrupt (if you are a liberal) are both virtues. And the more incompetent you are and your ability to lie with a straight face (and often) are two more of their virtues.
“But that’s all he really wants to do with them” (get their votes). What he really wants is to do them in. He’s aiming for a two-tier system with the great unwashed at the bottom and the real one percenters at the top. Washington, DC has more one percenters now than NY and LA.
One of our fellows pointed out the atrocious grammar of our Secretary of Education, and I’m glad you left it in. What an irony in him criticizing the not-so-brilliant white children of suburban moms. I think he is a Harvard alumni too.

Thanks for the link. As the mother of a 42 year old, I don’t have a stake in the educational system and have not been following the controversy closely. (There’s just too much on our plates!) I was struck by Malkin’s earlier posts shown on the right side, the ones about Jeb Bush’s (monetary) involvement with the Democrats. Another nail in his 2016 coffin as far as I’m concerned.

I am a white suburban mom with six kids and this disgusts me. I am not a fan of common core. The math is ridiculous and just frustrates the kids. My nine year old cries everyday over her math. However, when she gets a “real” math sheet sent home for homework (addition, subtraction, multiplication etc) it is done in ten minutes. My husband and I work very hard to support our children. I work as an EMT and often get up at 3 in the morning to work a ten or twelve hour shift. My husband works as a firefighter and we make sure that someone is always home to care for our children. I am so sick of being talked down to.

I’m sorry for what you’re going through, but, I have to say, I’m glad you’re speaking out.
I would encourage you to continue what you are doing with your family. This country needs good solid values. My only stake in education these days is for six grandchildren, and I am blue in the face from preaching and teaching the importance of multiplication tables and repetitive exercises of any sort. To this day I am able to easily figure out in my head what a restaurant tip should be for example. Of course the grandchildren laugh at my iPhone skills :-) Still I manage! More power to you and your husband.

You are absolutely correct as always, Mr. Koffler. He tries to keep a lid on this sort of thing, but HIS White mother whom he’d as soon forget lives on in his head, telling him ALL THE TIME that he’ll NEVER be “Black” enough because of HER.
Obama displays a festival of apparent psychiatric issues, but one thing that seems to cause these little displays more than anything else is a deep-seated feeling of inferiority that he gets from all sides. He’s never been “White” enough, “Black” enough, “Muslim” enough, “Christian” enough, “Straight” enough, “Gay” enough, and DEFINITELY not “Man” enough for ANYONE’S tastes ESPECIALLY for someone who comes from a political party where labeling and judging people is EVERYTHING; and EVERY DAY that he comes to “work”, he’s treated to ample proof that he’s NOT up to the job of President, having been put there by others for purposes of their own, mostly by disqualifying anyone who dare oppose him.

Speaking of History: A teacher for a high school junior class (honor roll) was teaching how Hitler came into power and WWII itself. She rambled to the kids, the war started with HItler rolling in with all his tanks, men etc.
Student raised his hand and tried to explain what Hitler did prior to the War. She told him he was wrong. My son raised his hand and tried to explain as well. Teacher called upon 3rd student and he as well gave facts of what Hitler did prior to WWII. The teacher called the principal and fussed about her students and the principal sat thougth the rest of the class. The principal later told the Coach all three boys had to run laps. Parent later discussed this punishment with the Coach. The Coach put up his hands, and said “I need my job”, There is nothing I can do about it. This is just one expample of the road our school system is on.

Al Capone had friends from Chicago too…the current administration operates in the same way payoffs, coverups, lies, and criminal acts that continue unopposed.
