In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Michele Bachmann: I Lost My Health Insurance

Appearing with Wolf Blitzer Thursday on CNN, Michele Bachmann said she is one of the victims of Obamacare who is losing their health insurance and must try to find a new plan.

She said:

I lost my health insurance under Obamacare. And so now I’m forced to go into the D.C. health exchange. I’m waiting until they fix this thing. I’m not going to sit there and frustrate myself for hours and hours . . .

At some point we’re going to have to figure it out. I have a husband with very significant health issues. We have to have health insurance. So we will get it figured it out.

Democratic operative Paul Begala, who appeared with her, tried to interject that she should be happy she now won’t be discriminated against because of her husband’s pre-existing condition. But he seems to have forgotten that Bachmann and her husband wouldn’t have needed new insurance in the first place if it weren’t for Obamacare.

“Actually, we were just fine before,” Bachmann replied.

    1. She may have given TMI by accident.
She’s not running for re-election next year, she’s retiring.
Her husband applied for Swiss citizenship last year and was accepted, making her, by default, a Swiss citizen, too.
It’s possible that she no longer resides in MN. She may have a legal residence there, but actually lives in DC. The voters in her district may not have known where she lives.
      They do now.

        I remember that.

This is the first story on AOL’s home-page today. I don’t know if the reasons cited in this article apply to their situation.

More Americans are deciding that they’d rather give up their citizenship than pay more taxes.

The Wall Street Journal reports that 2013 has already set a new record for “expatriations,” defined as citizens renouncing their citizenship or permanent residents giving back their green cards. The Journal quotes tax lawyer Andrew Mitchel, who found that there have been 2,369 expatriations as of the end of the third quarter; that’s an increase of 33 percent over all of 2011, the previous record-holder.

There was an uptick in expatriation at the beginning of President Obama’s first term, which has been attributed both to anticipation of more burdensome taxation policies and to increased tax enforcement against expatriates.

  1. Oh boy, get ready for some late night jokes about this one. Last night Leno told a Sarah Palin joke instead of bashing Obama about Obamacare. Sarah Palin?

  2. Maybe this is what SrDem said yesterday–when you quit, someone offers you good insurance…. I don’t know what significance this has. When you say not go into Obamacare and go to private market instead–what is the private market–like through a broker, like I used to do? I don’t know what to make of this.

I do know how you guys wait for the Morning Joe fill-in (eyeroll) and today we had Axelrod back with a return engagement on how the cancelled plans were junk (a discount card is junk, Dave) and of course Howard (“Better Call Saul”) Dean saying oh, all this is just a Washington deal. Right, Howie–millions of people will have more yrs of worry and limbo and a newly minted dictator will order companies to violate the law of the land. But not to worry–just some inside the Beltway dustup.

  3. Michele Bachmann has been fighting against Obamacare from day one. She led the first defund efforts way back in 2011, but the RINO leadership would have none of that. They joined the Democrats in their attempt to destroy Michele Bachmann and run her out of Gomorrah on the Potomac. She saw the writing on the wall during the last election when the RNC abandoned her (ala Ken Cuccinelli) and she won re-election by a few hundred votes. Michele Bachmann is one of my heroes, and I only wish her and her family the best in life.

  6. Hi there, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just curious
if you get a lot of spam responses? If so how do you reduce it, any plugin or anything you can advise?

I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any assistance is very much appreciated.

  7. Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and
gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never
wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had
    to tell someone!
