As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Quote of the Day || November 12, 2013

“The talks really started breaking down when the Iranians started demanding their Persian rugs back. I mean, I’ve got three at the house in Nantucket.”

– Secretary of State John Kerry

      • “Yikes! Boo Kitty is a Persian also. Should she be wearing a burka???” – Boo

Well, since you define your cat as a “she”, you’d best cover her up lest we all die in an earthquake…

“A senior Iranian cleric, Hojatoleslam Kazim Sadighi, allows that women who dress immodestly not only corrupt society but incite earthquakes. Or, as graphically characterized above, bikini earthquakes. It is reported that he intended this to be understood in literal terms.”

And as a Persian, it’s their cat, so I guess they’d know best…

  1. My college friend, Hom(approximate spelling) from 50 years long gone, told me often, “I am Persian; not Iranian!” If he was muslim, he did a damned fine job of hiding it.
My one semester roommate from Egypt, senior year, had a plump, blue-eyed blond girlfriend he wheeled around campus in his pale green four door Chevy Corvair. He told me he was continuing his education in America to avoid returning to a pre-arranged marriage.
I wonder what happened to dissent in the ranks?

Well, closer to home, they’re doing a d@mn fine job of stomping it out. Just look at Berkley outlawing the term “illegal alien”…

“The UC Berkeley student government has banned the term “illegal immigrant” from its discourse, deeming the phrase racist, offensive, unfair and derogatory.

In an unanimous vote, student senators passed a resolution that stated the word “illegal” is “racially charged,” “dehumanizes” people, and contributes to “punitive and discriminatory actions aimed primarily at immigrants and communities of color.”

And this from the home of free speech….

Unsaid also is Berkley’s assumption that the term means someone of color. I don’t assume that. “Illegal” refers to an ACT, not a COLOR. If Berkley wants to assume it applies to non-White people exclusively and ignores the fact that Russians, Europeans, and even Canadians can be here illegally, I’d say that speaks more to THEIR racism than mine…

I know, a little OT. Just something rolling around that I made a loose connection to…I’ll behave now…
