In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR
Mr. Koffler,
The ‘Quote’ of October 1, is very appropriate & it is VERY
funny!
You are a master of political satire…there is soooooo much material
at your ‘disposal’ ?Thanks to our inept politicians.
Thank you for your posts

Yeah, we know its not real Keith, Obama wouldn’t know about our Father in Heaven if he happened to meet him on the street. He would probably think He is a mark ripe for the hustle.

Shouldn’t all of HHS be on furlough today?
Mandy Manners
I would hope not because it performs vital work. CDCP is one of its agencies, as is the National Institutes for Health. I don’t know if any employees, though, are considered nonessential. I heard on either Fox or CNN last night that the FDA’s food inspectors won’t be furloughed.
Mandy Manners
Oops. I was wrong. Most of the FDA’s inspections of plants will stop. The USDA’s meat inspections will continue, though.

…and the cesspool that is the US Congress still gets paid…

They’re the ones who pass the bills, so of course the lawmakers will get paid. I can’t find out if there will be any furloughs of staff, but I found that the White House will around 1,260 and keep about 430.
CDCP will stop its influenza-immunization program. This is nuts. Influenza can kill. I hope pharmacies that charge for the shots can work out some way offer free or reduced-cost shots to the poor.

I just sent some nasty emails to my useless “Senators” and “Congressman”.
I asked if ObamaCare is sooo wonderful why dont they, their families & staffs sign up for ObamaCare.
I also asked why those Liars, Cheaters & Crooks in Congress were still getting paid during the ‘shut down’.
(…as usual I will get no response…)
Mandy Manners
The 27th Amendment was passed in 1992, in time for Congress to be paid during the shut down of 1993.

(…my bad…)

I knew there was an amendment about it, but my favorite copy of the Constitution was published before then. I have two others, but this one holds some good memories.

I wish I could find a list of agencies that will be shut down, and those who will use furloughs.

I was actually being kind of sarcastic – funny that the start of enrollment in Obamacare is the same day as government shutdown! How can they enroll people if they are on furlough? :-)
I am assuming that the “father” he is referring to is father Saul, correct?
Mandy Manners
Congressional staff will face furloughs, but not the actual lawmakers because their pay is mandated by the 27th Amendment.
No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

I did find a partial list of agencies and percentages:

FCMABBHO’s pet project will proceed at full speed.
Should have read your list first. Good one.
I think the Smithsonian Museums, National zoo will be closed. National Parks locked up?
I say we declare all the Legislative branches of government non-essential !
Does this mean AF 1 is grounded for fundraisers?
Yep. The parks are closed.
“Allah, forgive then; for they know not what they do”. Fixed it for ya, Keith.
Is that from the gospel of st. Pelosi?

UNQUESTIONABLY not a real quote! Obama recognizes NO power higher than himself, and even considers A!!ah to be (almost) an equal, NOT a superior…
