In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Rolls Onto the Golf Course

Because that’s how he likes to roll.

President Obama has headed out to Fort Belvoir, Virginia for golf. With him are three of his usual partners, White House chef Sam Kass, trip director Marvin Nicholson, and aide Mike Brush.

He departed a little early for him, leaving the White House at 10:40 am. It’s the 34th time he’s played this year and the 145th time he’s played as president.

Obama tonight will be accompanied by Michelle as he makes remarks in Washington at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Phoenix Awards.

  1. Two years ago, MrObama said;
“(Daily Mail) — Barack Obama has spoken about how he has failed to spend enough time with his daughters, despite pledging to learn from his father who left him when he was two years old.
The President revealed how he regrets how his work has stopped him spending more time with his daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 10, as they grow up……….”

Guess it doesn’t bother him anymore.
There are a lot of events or things that even the POTUS could do with his daughters on a weekend. One of those would be to include them on his golf outings instead of his buds.

    1. “Two years ago, MrObama said,”
One day ago MrObama said that the republicans are going to destroy this Country by shutting down the government.
He regales us constantly with his ‘remarks’ and assumes that we believe them because HE is making them.
Those of us that have actually had to fend for ourselves see through his charade, and it is beginning to wear very thin.

If it wasn’t so dire for the Country, it would be funny to watch it unfold.
      Putin is laughing.

        1. Yes, they asked a lot of (famous) people what they learned in life or would do differently or something and I think for many it came down to the old cliche of no one ever wanting to spend more time at the office. But I think a lot of people don’t mind that at all–the fam comes second. I watch a show on AMC called the Pitch–two ad firms pitch an account. This is up my alley–but they spend much of the time caterwauling about not being able to spend as much time with the kids as they would like. This has nothing to do with the purpose of the show–everyone has to balance. I traded wealth and income for staying home to work–and I still had to have day care, tho I could chaperone, pick her up on time, do volunteer stuff, etc. You work it out. When Obama moved to DC, the fam stayed in Chicago. OK–Michelle was sort of a single Mom. But what is the deal now?

    2. When the grandtwins visit, my husband loves taking them golfing! They’re 10 now and last time he got two carts, and let the girls drive them (he in one and his golf buddy in the other). They took their job very seriously and did really well !

And yes, I’ve seen that “regrets” story in many publications. I have never known him to be sincere about it, except for photo ops when his poll numbers slip.

In the meantime, Gov Romney just had his 21st and 22nd grandchildren ! Remember during the campaign all the family movies and the vacations together ? He was a busy guy too and still had plenty of time free for family fun. He has Ann too, I guess that’s why he liked being at home :D

    1. I found this:
“Obama will attend the Phoenix Awards Dinner on Sept. 21, which is being highlighted as the key event of the four-day conference where leaders will meet to discuss public policies as they relate to the black community.”

Even though it’s assumed to be a trite cliche; what if White legislators were to “meet to discuss public policies as they relate to the White community”?
I’m sick of it; race, racist, racial, all of it.

      1. Hear, hear. Sounds like it will give him a forum to fulminate against the Republican votes on Obamacare and foodstamps. Another campaign opportunity.

      2. It’s fine for every other ethnic group to have their special clubs, organizations, foundations etc., but if whites have the nerve to attempt such things, we’re racist. Why?

        1. It’s the same for womyn’s groups. It’s okay to have a group exclude men, but not for men to have a group that excludes womyn. I’m surprised that the colleges are still allowed to have Fraternities that are male only.

  3. Obama may be rolling onto the course, but it’s not in a wheelchair–how about a full court press on revamping the clearance process and using all that data they are sucking up to find evil-doers? I mean–above and beyond some simpy thing about holding people “accountable.” Boy am I sick of that one!

    1. Speaking of the Muslim Brotherhood, I see that Chris Christie has received an award from CAIR for doing so much to fight Islamophobia.

  5. It figures Sir Putts a Lot would be out on the golf course again today. He’s had a busy week (in his mind only), what with the GOP “messing” with him and all.

  6. Thanks for the info srdem65 on what they will do at the meeting. I stil ldon’t know how they decide who gets these awards and why? I know Mr. Clin-ton was our first “black” president but why was he singled out? This Sounds like more”you know what” to me.

I hope someone asks Oba-me how his golf game went. What is his handicap? on the golf course I mean. The rest I know about.

    1. LOL!
The only “news source” I hear about Obama’s golfing is here on WhiteHouseDossier.com

I am CURIOUS, why does NO ONE? (Breit Baier, O’Reilly, Hannity, etc…) on “FOX News” ever mentions Obama’s weekend golfing/never going to ‘church’…???

    1. I doubt FCMABBHO is the first president over whom a Marine held an umbrella during an official event.

For pity’s sake: the job of anyone attached to any president is to protect him, and to make his life easier.

  7. After all the golfing, what the hell is his eminence’s handicap?
Answer: if it was any good you can bet your sweet aspic we wouldn’t hear the end of it.

  10. According to a personal source (who was at the event), the Washington Capitals pre-season convention had to do a bit of scrambling on orders from the Secret Service. Apparently, the Capitals had booked a couple of panel rooms until 7 PM, but they got kicked out of them by the Secret Service late in the afternoon.

Apparently, this administration doesn’t even trust fans of DC’s own hockey team.

  11. He plays instead of trying to build bridges on both sides of the aisle. Being the chief executive of this country is the least of his worries. How sad.

  15. This is W Bush in an interview TODAY:

“I see our president criticized for playing golf. I don’t. I think he ought to play golf,” Bush told Jimmy Roberts, host of Golf Channel’s In Play.

    “Why’s that?” Roberts asked.

“Because I know what it’s like to be in the bubble,” Bush replied. “I know the pressures of the job, and to be able to get outside and play golf with some of your pals is important for the president. It does give you an outlet.”

“I think it’s good for the president to be out playing golf,” Bush concluded.
