In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Statement Over With, Time for Golf

Updated 2:17 pm ET

From the pool report:

Immediately after delivering the statement on Egypt, the motorcade departed for Vineyard Haven. After an uneventful ride, we arrived at the Mink Meadows Golf Club a few minutes after 11am. Golf partners are below. Pool is holding.

Obama is golfing with some regular partners – White House aides Marvin Nicholson and Mike Brush and White House chef Sam Kass.

Twenty seventh golf outing this year, the 138th time of his presidency, and his fourth time golfing in give full days on vacation.

*******

UPDATE: GOLF ENDS EARLY.

The president returned to his residence at 1:30 pm, hardly giving him enough time for a full 18 holes. There must be a reason – pool is asking whether Sasha and Malia have arrived – will update you when I find out.

UPDATE 2: Sasha and Malia have indeed arrived from camp to spend the rest of the week with their parents.

    1. I am curious?
Why is it everytime I log on to “WhiteHouseDossier” over the past few days every ‘story’ is:
“Obama is golfing so he makes an empty/clueless/useless statement about International/National/Politics story (re: Egypt, etc.)
Of course, NO ONE ine the “media” every questions Obama on his vacation…

  2. Having reassured the MB here and in Egypt life goes on for Barack Obama.

And I repeat my self— for a guy who plays cards while the SEALS take out OBL, goes MIA during Benghazi and then hops his personal jet to Vegas to raise money is not above playing golf while Egypt burns. Heck, when America burns we will probably find him on a golf course somewhere far far away from WDC.

    1. Remember when he tsk-tsked the Detroit Big 3 for flying down on corporate jets?
Or when he scolds people who going to Vegas?

      He is just unbelievable.
It’s not that he can effect what is going on in Egypt. It’s just appearances.

      1. “Remember when he tsk-tsked the Detroit Big 3 for flying down on corporate jets?
Or when he scolds people who going to Vegas?”

Or, when he told people they couldn’t heat their homes, drive or eat they way they once did?

What did he do when he moved into the White House? He cranked up the thermostat.

        1. The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

  3. The raw video and still shots from Egypt are just amazing and astonishing.
The Morsi supporters are willing to die for their favorite dictator. They stand in the middle of the street, unprotected from oncoming fire, and shoot their AKs at an army equipped with tanks, armored vehicles and superior firepower. What those pro-Morsi fighters are showing isn’t the bravery or courage of the soldier, but the fanatical insanity of the brainwashed.

    1. So true, srdem. It is also the Morsi supporters who are killing the Christians and burning their churches. Pure unadulterated evil.

  4. Let me remind all you folks what a fine family guy Obama is. Which is why he is now on his second vacation of the year 100% devoted to him golfing with his friends.

  5. I read in “Der Spiegel” that the new military strongman, al_Sissi, has, or at least, used to have, close contacts inside Pentagon. He attended a “war course” at the US Army War college in Carlisle 2006, well that was in the days of Mubarak. Do we see a new Mubarak on the rise ?

    1. What’s going on in Egypt is so important. There is nothing we can do about it now really. Obama’s FP in the ME has been so inept but not inconsequential and left us without influence. There is no indication that this Administration in anyway, anywhere opposes the MB. And if nothing else the direct attack on churches and Christians just within the last few days should speak to how deadly this can be for all people in the ME.

Here’s a short summary by a recently retired senior FSO — it is brief and on target, and with a strong position.

Thank goodness Israel has always prepared itself to go it alone. Kerry ain’t doing them any favors with his ridiculous peace talks . And with Rice in the NSA and Samantha at the UN it’s only going to get worse.

  8. May I just say, “WHY is a press pool wasting any time following Mr. Obama and who in this country cares whether his daughters are there, at camp, or anywhere else?”
