In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama: Odds of Dying by Terrorism Less Than in Car Accident

Oh boy. What about compared to a shark attack? Or being struck by lightening during a shark attack?

Anyway, President Obama finally consented to some questions on the terror threat to the nation, answering, as I predicted, to the queries of a comedian, Jay Leno. With predictable results.

From the report of the press pool that covered Obama’s taping of the Tonight Show:

POTUS said the U.S. was not overreacting.

POTUS said people can still take vacation, just do so in a “prudent way” by checking on the State Department Websites for up-to-day information before making plans.

“The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”

Well, not much useful information here so far. There’s another pool report to come, and I will update you if the president says something meaningful, like about the virulence of the threat or the possibility of an attack occurring in the United States – or why it is that al Qaeda is no longer “on the run.”

  1. “The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”

What? It’s unfortunate that more people will be killed by automobile accidents than will be killed by terrorists?

      1. It made me say a few words not appreciated here, Julie.

My best friend was killed in a car wreck when we were very young teens. I spent an entire summer in the hospital.

I reckon there’s no need for me to add another reason to loathe this FUCKING COMMIE MUSLIM-APPEASING BASTARD BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA, but what the hell?

  2. “The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”? This man is nuts. It unfortunate that the odds are greater that you would die in a car accident that die in a terrorist attack? Is that what he truly wants is more terrorist attacks in the United States?

  3. What an arrogant, ignorant, and insensitive thing to say to the American public by the POTUS after his administration has issued warnings against using public transportation and evacuating or closing certain embassies.
That he would even be willing to discuss national security concerns on a late night comedy show makes his answer even more egregiously outrageous.
I’m out of big words now, so I’ll just call him reckless and foolish.

    1. Greta Van S tonight said she was confused that he was continuing to call Benghazi “a phony scandal” in your state today while his Department of Justice has secretly indicted the star murderer in that “phony scandal”. The man’s just not a logical thinker. Another example is that one above that “unfortunately” the chances of your dying in a terrorist attack are much less than your dying in a car accident.

      1. Julie, it’s gotta be years of drugs, chewing Nicorette or as they say in professional circles…”he’s got his head up his kazoo”. It’s not so much that he is an illogical thinker – he’s an evil thinker. We rarely get a chance to hear evil speak until their court dates unless we’re reading some missive from a mullah.

        1. Judging from the pictures above and the words uttered, I would sayhe is currently using drugs and got well choomed up prior to going on the show.

          1. Delusion is part of the narcissist’s perception. However, a narcissist is not always delusional.

I’m not trying to hound you, Susan. I’m just trying to say that FCMABBHO is not psychotic. He has full possession of his senses, and his mind.

But, his mind is inhabited by a narcissistic personality disorder.

I feel sorry for the man. He had a horrendous life when it comes to the things that make us human. I don’t care how many prestigious schools he attended. I don’t care how many privileges he was awarded.

The fact of the matter is that his mother kicked him to the curb at a very early age. He never properly bonded with a primary care-giver.

This ensured he’d not develop the core of humanity: empathy.

          2. I don’t feel a bit sorry for him; I despise him for what he’s doing to my country. He lived with his mother for his first ten years of life. His defective personality was already developed by the time she shipped him off to live with her parents. She’s the one who inspired his hatred for America and the hero worship he had for the drunken polygamist father who deserted him.

          3. Many, many people have horrendous childhoods and have suffered far worse conditions than those in which Barry grew up. Many people are able to overcome and rise above their unfortunate early experiences to become upstanding citizens. Many people develop empathy for victims and survivors of childhood abuse and neglect. Barry has no empathy for anyone. He is a serial liar and an expert at hiding behind a “mask of sanity”. Seems to me he is not only a narcissist, but a full-blown sociopath.

    1. Actually their driving the bus and BO is hanging on for dear life. AQ is looking for as many bumps and pot holes they can find.

  5. ““The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”

    this can’t be real

please please say you forgot the satire tag Keith

I think we need a Familyguy vomit scene right now

  6. ““The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”

    he really said unfortunately ?

    that is whacked

  7. I have not watched Leno in years. I gave it a shot, foolishly thinking I’d actually hear some THING . Fifteen minutes into the Obama-informmercial I called it quits. Leno spoon-fed him questions from a bowl of Pablum and I had no intentions waiting for a burp or diaper change.

    1. Well, while Barry and Jay were doing their thing on national tv, Juan McCain and Miss Lindsey were wrapping up their missiothen for King in Egypt. Yep, McCain clearly called it out as a “coup” and then they both went to lobby for releasing MB “prisoners” and some democracy blah blah democracy blah blah.

Since Obama also authorized some Special Ops activity in Yemen (I think they were already there and the BBC announced this) Juan really wants to go there I suspect. But Miss Lindsey probably doesn’t want to be around all those guns and thingys.

Maybe that terrorist versus getting run over by a car chance thing might change — and not in our favor.

Oh by the way, not only does Egypt really really hate us now, they really really hate the idea of a new Ambassador Ford most recently from Syria.

      The Rino/Obama combo rocks!

  8. Not likely to die from terrorism? Whew! Now that we’ve stopped fighting that, when can we start fighting Obamacare? A clear and present danger to the Republic.

  9. “The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”
    unfortunately? Unfortunately? UNFORTUNATELY?
Was he hoping for more terrorist attacks victims.
Is he extremely dissapointed in Al-Qaeda as well as he’s in Russia?
OMG what a stupid puppet he is.

  10. ““The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”

This slip that shows what he truly believes. Obama thinks it’s unfortunate that americans cling to thier gas guzzling cars. If we would all just use public tranportation or just live close to our goverment provided jobs, then we wouldn’t cling to an object that gives us freedom to go where and when we please. It’s hard to force a free and mobile population to do whats best (in Obama’s mind) to achieve the ideal socialist, utopian society.

    1. “You didn’t build that.”
      “You didn’t drive that.”
      “You didn’t eat that.”

      The possibilities are endless.

  11. Actually the odds of dying from terrorism are damn near nil compared to those of dying at the hands of the police state we have created for ourselves. Terrorism is a red herring for government control of everything in our lives. The government keeps us operating in a state of fear such that we can’t develop a logical solution to a problem. It works the same way with crime, childhood obesity, disease, etc… they get us scared, we give them more money and power.

Are there bad guys out there that won’t to kill us for being Americans? You’re damn right there are, but are they that much worse than any other threat we face in this country? Hell! I suspect Obama and his minions would put me away in a camp if he could get away with it!! The logical solution to terrorism is to 1) mind our own business internationally, 2) accept a certain amount of risk because that’s what freedom is all about and 3) conduct this war privately and in a vicious manner like the Israelis.

  13. “When the president says something meaningful”… I won’t wait around for that. This president and his administration is a threat to our nation and the election can not come soon enough. Our nation is truly stumbling down hill and no longer respected. Wake up people! Freedom is being threatened.
