In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Michelle Catches Beyonce on “Official” Trip to Chicago

First Lady Michelle Obama was Chicago Thursday for an official event touting career training for disadvantaged youth, but she spent far more time at a Beyonce concert the night  before, begging the question: What was the true purpose of her taxpayer-funded trip?

Michelle Wednesday night.
Michelle Wednesday night.

Michelle appeared for only 15 minutes at an event with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel promoting Urban Alliance, which provides assistance to students in low income neighborhoods seeking internships and helps them continue their education after high school.

She opened the session promising “we will talk and discuss,” but then left after making some brief remarks and answering only a single question.

But Wednesday night, a motorcade carrying Mrs. Obama and her daughters was seen being escorted into the underground garage of the United Center, where Michelle and the girls took in a concert by Michelle’s self-proclaimed hero, Beyonce. This even though Beyonce promotes unhealthy food choices for lots of money, records offensive music, and vacations in Cuba.

It’s not the first time taxpayers have been billed for Michelle’s trips to see Beyonce. Last year, she and her daughters jetted to Atlantic City for a Memorial Day weekend show at a Casino.

  1. Unfair. Beyonce has been in the Sit Room and made a trip to Cuba. She’s sort of, kind of, like an unofficial cultural Ambassador. Or sumthin’

      1. Well, considering that His Arrogance and Mooch just did the Grand Tour Afrique, I’m thinking somewhere on the Dark Continent.

She could bring light with her dazzle, her smile, her energy. She could be, as she is to Mooch, an inspiring role model. That’s the thing about Beyonce, she is just so darned approachable.

With extra attention from the Obamas, and Oprah’s school, and Beyonce’s presence Al Qaeda will not have a chance.

          1. Yes. :) :) If her PR people are as tuned in as JLo’s were regarding the political culture of Turkmenistan then perhaps they will miss this little tidbit. Too sad.

In some parts of the Islamic world, a woman is required to wear a burqa at all times in public, and this is enforced by law. Saudi Arabia has a particularly nasty group of police, the Mutween, who are most famous to non-Saudis for allowing 14 school girls to die in a fire because the girls were not wearing the proper covering.

  2. What do you think about this from SnarkEsq. this morning?

Meanwhile, Moochelle went to Chicago on our dime to participate in some BS event with Rahm, which was just an excuse to be there. The real reason for the trip – Mooch and her daughters went to go see her idol, Beyonce in concert. First, they and at least 20 “friends” enjoyed a private dinner out, and then they sat in a box seat at the concert. Mooch sat next to Oprah’s BFF Gayle and they all danced the night away.

The official reason she went to Chicago? To participate in an event about how to get summer jobs for high school students. Yep. In the middle of July. I don’t know about Chicago, but school here starts the first week of August.

From the Daily Mail’s link: ‘I am thrilled to be here. I mean, in addition to giving me an excuse to come home and sleep in my own bed, it’s really a treat for me to spend time with you guys,’ she said in her opening remarks.

Her “own bed”? Didn’t she and FCMABBHO sell their house in Chicago?

    1. No, they still own the house.

The local media were, of course, ga-ga over the Royal Visit, but they made it appear that the time with Rahm and his wife was much more substantial than it actually was.

Of course, they repeatedly showed The Queen entering the meeting and, as she always does, applauding her audience, Soviet-style.

No mention on where she spent the night, but it was reported that security around the house was beefed up. Another bill that Chicago can’t afford.

  3. Michelle decides she wants to go to Chicago so they call their good friend to ask where she can appear in order to make it official. There’s always some group meeting somewhere that they can glom onto.

Did they sleep in thier own house or did they do a hotel?

    1. I was wondering the same thing ? Where did they stay overnight? They don’t go to Chicago enough to justify maintaining their McMansion. It’s been hot, and to run the a/c all summer for one night sounds pretty wasteful. But hey, it’s the Obamas, they don’t understand budgets ‘n’ stuff !

        1. They have not sold the house that I know of. But I thought other times they still went to a hotel. I could be wrong. Room service at your house–well, that’s called cooking.

    2. “To you all students, for having the courage to step outside your comfort zone and do something that was probably initially pretty scary, I know that feeling,” Obama told about 50 teens gathered at Columbia College Chicago to see her. “I was you guys. I say that all the time.”
So who’s prouder, Princeton or Harvard?

    3. Now that Bill Ayers has admitted that he hosted an early fundraiser for Obama, he and Bernardine Dohrn could throw a bash for Michelle. (Word is that he and his wife really know how to “bring down the house”.)

    1. Did Michelle comment about any of these shootings that took place in Chicago while she was there, all in typically black neighborhoods? Including the murder of a 19 year old?

In Lawndale, Alexander Mayo, 19, was shot in the 1300 block of South Avers Avenue around 1:30 p.m. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead about 3:50 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 100 block of South Cuyler Avenue in Oak Park.

      In other shootings:

      • A 16-year-old boy was shot in the chest in Englewood about 4:15 a.m. Friday, police said. The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.

      • Just two blocks away a few hours earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot in the ankle near 63rd and Paulina streets in the West Englewood neighborhood. Two men stepped out of a white van about 12:45 a.m. and opened fire, Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

      • Another man walked into Advocate Trinity Hospital with a gunshot wound about 1:30 a.m., Alfaro said. The man had been on his porch, across the street from where a fight was taking place, when someone opened fire. He suffered a leg wound.

      • A man was wounded about 1:30 p.m. in the 400 block of East 69th Street in the Park Manor neighborhood, according to Police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss. The man suffered a wound to his buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital.

      • A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg about 3:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Allen Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood. The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Andre Button, 33, of Dolton was shot around 11:25 p.m. Thursday as he sat in a parked car near 15th Place and Indiana Avenue in the South Loop, police said. He tried to drive away and crashed into two parked cars on Prairie Avenue.

Button was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead there at 12:01 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 14300 block of Lincoln Avenue in Dolton.

        1. Any bets on the Obamas ending up in New York this weekend, to support Sharpton’s “prayer service”? Trayvon’s parents will be there, so the setting is right. And with all the media commemorating the one year anniversary of the Aurora shooting, they could talk about common sense gun control.

(I’d wager that the now-too-late ability for those in the Colorado theater to “stand their ground” would not be on the docket.)

      1. Surprise: Beyonce is scheduled for tomorrow night in Detroit!
Beyonce & Luke James Palace Of Auburn Hills
        (home of the Detroit Pistons)

So, Michelle had plenty of choices to see Beyonce. She chose the cush option where she could live and dine luxuriously with her daughters and friends. She could have made a statement, gone to Detroit to see the struggling city, had an audience full of unemployed or homeless, had her daughters see up close and personal someone who isn’t a millionaire, but oh my, Michelle get near someone like that? She’s the worst hypocrite in the nation.

  4. Chicago public schools just announced they were cutting over 1000 teachers.

Well at least there’s enough money for a Police Motorcade to the United Center for the Obama ladies.

      1. Haiku!

As I was saying, perhaps these teachers could get new jobs as flower “people”, strewing petals in advance of the motorcade when the Obamas return to Chicago to pick up some more loot.

  5. There’s nothing new in MrsO commandeering the jumbo-jet that we finance for her or her children’s amusement. That’s been her way since she moved into the WhiteHouse.

The basic problem is that being called “First Lady” is not an offical job title; she’s still a private citizen. When complaints were filed on her vacation to Spain, the WhiteHouse claimed that she was, indeed, a private citizen and free to go anywhere she pleases.
As a private citizen, she must pay her travel expenses, unless she’s with the POTUS.
There is no such thing as an “official” event for the FLOTUS.

    1. She is the head of the Office of the First Lady of the United States of America, and it has existed officially since Rosalynn Carter.

      1. Yes, she is, but her position has no official duties in our government. The Office of the First Lady is to assist the FLOTUS in her role as the official hostess of the WhiteHouse.
        Nothing more.

The Office was made official to allow government funds be used to pay employees and to carry out the hostess duties.

    2. The mere thought of that Spain vacation still burns me. Not only did we pay nearly half a million for that trip but we even paid for her breath mints, snacks and magazines from Costco and the commissary. I don’t recall the entire list but all her food and stuff cost close to $900, and included 4 largebottles of maple syrup and 1 pkg of pancake mix. It always struck me as odd that she’d need so much syrup.

  6. So what else is new. The MSM will ignore it, no one will ask about it, and nothing will ever happen.

To quote our old friend Hillary, “What difference does it make?”

    1. I think the MSM and their viewers will think it’s kinda cool and see nothing wrong with it. They are so brainwashed in love with everything the First Family does.

      1. The British love their royals and the dumbed down Americans love their celebrities who act as if they are royalty (including the Obamas). The only difference is the British royals, except for Prince Charles, are interesting people.

  7. The First Lady has no “official” post, so her phony meet and greets should never be an excuse to fritter away tax payer dollars to entertain herself and her entourage.

The other day Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) gave a floor speech about these two grifters use of AF1 as their “personal toy”. Doubt they paid any heed to his words, but they should. There is a lot of animosity growing, as evidenced by many of the comments on the articles about their lifestyle of the rich and famous…

    http://therightscoop.com/boom-gop-rep-slams-obamas-lavish-lifestyle-says-first-family-uses-air-force-one-as-their-personal-toy/

    1. Thanks for posting, Susan. Rep Coble can probably look forward to an IRS audit – or worse – after the WH mooch gets wind of his ‘racist’ remarks. No one criticizes the queen – off with his head.

  8. After some thought, I realized that I don’t care where they go, how they get there, what they wesr or who (whom?) are their traveling companions.
While I believe these travel/vacation decisions are not ethical/moral choices, they are not THE issues that will determine our nation’s continued existence as the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.”
I do care about what is behind the massacre in Benghazi.
I do care that “ObamaCare” is not the healthcare cure-all so many were led to believe it was.
I do care that I must consider who is reading these comments and flagging them for NSA.
I do care that the IRS no longer holds itself accountable to basic accounting principles. As surprising as it might be, there are many of us citizens who believe that tax payments are a worthy payment/fee to live as a citizen in the USA.
I do care that the MSM is not a reliable news reporting/recording source…referring to themselves as journalists? – please.
I do care that a “not guilty” judgement results in an investigation by the DOJ.
I do care about upholding our constitution…how did we elect people to government positions who do not recognize adherence to our constitution as the guidance for decisions regarding the sovereignty of our nation.
I care – and I believe many, many, many others care. We need a leader.

    1. Here’s one writer’s perspective on the DOJ and Zimmerman.

Seventeen months ago, authorities in Florida made the right decision — and George Zimmerman was a free man.

Seventeen months later, for what appears to be mostly political reasons, a second life has been destroyed with the same result — George Zimmerman is still (barely) free.

How many millions of dollars and thousands of lives and countless injuries and property damage and destroyed civility could have been avoided had the right decision been kept from the start, rather than tearing apart the country for pandering and ratings and political advantage?

You can’t turn on the television without seeing the Martin family AGAIN being interviewed — or some biased lawyers telling us how unjust this all is. How many dollars have to be made and how many cities — and people — have to be torched before we move on and accept what was the right decision all along?

      1. The race baiters are acting as if the feelings of the Martin family are the concern of the judicial system — in other words, there will be no “justice” until the Trayvon family is satisfied with whatever happens. When that happens, justice will have been achieved.

Of course, Trayvon could have gone home in the darkness, locked the door, and lived. But for whatever reason or feeling, he had to circle ’round and have a confrontation armed with his youth, his strength, his fists, his knowledge of fighting, and a slab of concrete.

And it’s always glossed over that though Trayvon had been sent to Dad’s place of residence because Mom couldn’t control him, Dad just went to bed before Trayvon came home. Either Dad didn’t care all that much where he was or Dad was used to Trayvon setting his own schedule during this visit that was meant to establish some control over Trayvon’s activities and behavior.

Things that make you say, “Hmmm ….”

  10. Well, what I want to find out is: did Beyonce take another moment of silence in memory of Trayvon Martin and dedicate another song to him?

  11. I’m curious as to what, if any, affect the racial divide being created by their parents and the Obama Brotherhood is having on the Obama daughters. Is the Sidwell School apolitical – or are the students exposed to current political events such as the Zimmerman persecution and affect of racism on the nation.
The Obama daughters are certainly at the age where peer pressure is paramount. Are they embarrassed by their parents? Do they share the same views? How does the school handle it? Sidwell has always catered to children of political figures, but this is the first time we have ever had a radical Marxist racist running the show. I feel sorry for the girls in some strange way.

  12. Does this cow ever get tired of taking vacations, oops, I mean, “diplomatic” or “official” trips?

Has anyone ever noticed noticed that this “woman” has an underbite, just like Rachel Jeantel? I wonder why Moochie doesn’t speak as poorly as Rachel, or why she doesn’t seem to be as ignorant as Rachel.

    1. Children’s value system is pretty well in place by age six. Obama was attending the Madras in Indonesia at that age. The girls’ values are established and they will be a direct reflection of their parents. Michelle, the main parent, is probably more radical than Barrack. His highness just appeared on television for an impromptu press conference. His remarks, in my opinion, created even further divide.

      1. You are braver than I am. I cannot stand to look at that man and hate to hear his voice. I actually get sick to my stomach, so I change the channel every time he is on the screen.
