In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Climate Change Push Begins Tuesday

President Obama will begin his attempt to make the waters recede with an address on global warming Tuesday afternoon at Georgetown University in Washington

He announced the speech in a carbon-friendly tweet this afternoon.

The tweet contained a video.

As you may be aware, the push will come by executive fiat, Congress having been unwilling to concur with the wisdom of The One.

  1. Did he finish with “we’ll all have a steak together”? Sounds like he’ll be upgrading those EBTs.

Georgetown? Will “Hurricane Sandra” be in attendance to attack the GOP “War on Warmin”?

    1. It’s not about We the People, it’s about appeasing his donors and those stupid groups who got the vote out for him. It’s mostly about 2014 too, he still needs money and vote getter outters.

      1. what gets me is there is still allot of people willing to give him large amounts of $$$.. granted it’s for the DNC and .. maybe local dems who want to be in or continue in politics. But then there is the others who want to be on the big committee who get to meet with Sir Putts-A-Lot once a month.

BTW.. has he even met with anyone yet?? Or even had a meeting. Oh, I’m sorry, he’s been so busy traveling.

  2. What he proposes to do is personal; it will affect me in a negative way.
He wants to force the power companies to change,or install new equipment, whatever, to lower carbon emissions and all that is expensive. The Salt River Project that supplies the electricity to my all electric home will pass that increased cost to me, and force me to decide just how hot I can stand it until I get sick from heat exhaustion.
    Yes, it’s all about me.

    1. You might not have a choice as to “how hot” you can take it.
I am sure the “Smart Meters” will make it for you one of these days.

      1. I already have a Smart Meter hooked up to my home. Time will tell if it has a negative impact. So far, nothing has changed.

        1. Same–I am also Salt River Project (there is another company here). My level fee per month for this hut is now $160. Five bucks higher than last mo. We keep it at 81 degrees. SRP is always angling for more money, although I think they were slapped back 1% recently. If they have to pay more–we will.

    2. “Smart Grid LA” has already begun in Los Angeles County. A notice was mailed to every household stating that DWP employees would be arriving in every backyard to install Smart Meters. Since it is a ‘pilot program, it is not mandatory. I immediately contacted DWP and told them in no uncertain terms to leave my meter alone. Today I received a letter informing me that I will be exempted but my request will have to be addressed at a later time if the program becomes mandatory. IF” the program becomes mandatory??? The question is “WHEN”!

  3. When are the students at these colleges and universities going to wise up and ban the wacko community organizing imbecile from invading their space and wasting their time? His daily carbon footprint is enough to rival China! Not to mention the hot air spewing from his lips!

    1. once they finally see he is not going to get them all high paying jobs and pay off or allow them to default on their college loans.

They have no clue about real world issues, yet they have been fed the line that they matter. Unfortunately it’s only at the polls.

      1. We manufacture Democrats at the university level. All those union professors that espouse the socialistic ideology. A Republican usually does not happen until they have to get a job, pay taxes and listen to people with some sensibility.

    2. When they are forced to work for a living, their parents that support them die, and they are on their own to survive in the economy that they allowed to exist under this administration without having the intuitive capabilities to see what was happening to them and their future.

  4. Obama has had a full plate. Transforming America from a Constitutional Republic with the rule of law into a political elitist government ruled by executive order and putting anti-America, anti-Constitutional, anti-human friends and campaign donors into positions of power while lying about everything and being the most corrupt and secretive president in history has taken too much time. Obamacare and expanding the government’s power and snooping on all Americans wasn’t too difficult but both took much more time than he anticipated. So now he’s pushing overrunning the country with illegal alien criminals, denying our right to own guns, and putting the final nail in our coffin-climate change regulations. Just think of the “new” America when he is finished.

    1. Money talks, and Washington listens.
They shut down the coal mines, but subsidize tobacco farms. Want to restrict soda pop consumption, but make no similar attempts on liquor use. Impose crippling regulations on the trucking industry, but not on the airlines. My pickup truck must meet certain fuel consumption markers, but limousines do not.

      Money talks.

  5. Psalm 94:11
11 The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.

    Job 38
1 Then the Lord spoke to Job (Obama) out of the storm. He said:

2 “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.

4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
    Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?

8 “Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb,
9 when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness,
10 when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place,
    11 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?

12 “Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place,
13 that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?
    14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
15 The wicked are denied their light,
and their upraised arm is broken.

16 “Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.

19 “What is the way to the abode of light?
    And where does darkness reside?
20 Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
21 Surely you know, for you were already born!
You have lived so many years!

22 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of the hail,
23 which I reserve for times of trouble,
for days of war and battle?
24 What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
25 Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,
and a path for the thunderstorm,
26 to water a land where no one lives,
    an uninhabited desert,
27 to satisfy a desolate wasteland
and make it sprout with grass?
28 Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb comes the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens
30 when the waters become hard as stone,
when the surface of the deep is frozen?

31 “Can you bind the chains[b] of the Pleiades?
    Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
32 Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons[c]
or lead out the Bear[d] with its cubs?
33 Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s[e] dominion over the earth?

34 “Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
35 Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
36 Who gives the ibis wisdom[f]
    or gives the rooster understanding?[g]
37 Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
38 when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together?

39 “Do you hunt the prey for the lioness
and satisfy the hunger of the lions
40 when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in a thicket?
41 Who provides food for the raven
when its young cry out to God
and wander about for lack of food?

    1. There are some U.S. persons who think he can walk on water, so maybe your suggestion is something they believe he can do.

If he was really serious and wanted to prove a point, he would announce a severe cutback in his constant travels in AF1.

      1. I was thinking along the same lines. Why does he really need a huge jet. He could get away with a plane 1/3 the size since no one else really travels with him.

          1. I don’t know who made the Holder/meerkat analogy but Obama kind of fits in that mold too. His head is not as meerkatish as Holder’s. Not sure whether meerkats are rodents. Holder and Obama are definitely rodents eating away at the roots of the Tree of Liberty.

          2. I sometimes think he hold his head up (BO) like Mussolini did after he gave his speeches. Shows an air of arrogance.

  6. Gee, maybe I’m just a stupid hick, but isn’t selling arms to our enemies TREASON? Why the fuck isn’t that insane, indonesion, commie, criminal, mass murdering koranderthal in prison yet?

  7. And one great big “confundantur maledicti” at Georgetown for consenting to serve as a backdrop. ESPECIALLY given Obeyme’s recent remarks about Catholic schools while he was in Ireland.

    1. True about him being en route to Moscow but not so certain where he is going from there. They are saying Cuba and then Venezuela, but I know there was talk of him going to Iceland before. Hong Kong said that the US did not offer strong enough reasons to detain him and hand him back to the US.

      1. How hard did we fight to get his sorry butt back here? Fox also reported that an attorney with Wikileaks is with him. Who’s footing the bill?

        1. Gosh, I just read somewhere this morning, that Obama really isn’t going to fight hard to get him back and that it may take years. Why is that? There are two issues here, Mandy. One, Snowden did reveal a top secret plan. He did break the law. Two, we know because of his doing so, however, that the US government has complete surveillance over the general population extending to personal information on all law-abiding citizens. My guess is that because of the second point, Obama would like the matter to go away and be forgotten so he isn’t going to press getting Snowden back or especially press for a trial.

          1. My comments on Friday’s Morning News:

Obama to meet with civil liberties board:

The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board is a little-known federal oversight organization. The meeting was arranged as part of the president’s pledge to engage a range of stakeholders on privacy issues, according to a senior administration official.

The privacy board was created in 2004 but has operated fitfully ever since, given congressional infighting and at times, censorship by government lawyers. The board was dormant during Obama’s first term and only became fully functional in May, before the NSA programs became public.

            Interesting timing.

          2. It’s been around since 2004, but only now is getting into action?

I hate to go into black-chopper territory, but I can’t help but wonder if this whole NSA issue was designed to take the heat off of Benghazi.

On December 17, 2010, President Obama nominated Elisebeth C. Cook to be a Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a term expiring January 29, 2014. SNIP On January 5, 2011, President Obama again nominated Elisebeth C. Cook to be a Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a term expiring January 29, 2014. On December 16, 2011, President Obama nominated Rachel L. Brand to be a Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a term expiring January 29, 2017. On December 16, 2011, President Obama nominated David Medine to be Chairman and Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a term expiring January 29, 2012, and a term expiring January 29, 2018 (reappointment). A hearing to consider the nomination was held on April 18, 2012. SNIP

On January 3, 2013, the nomination was returned to the President under the provisions of Senate Rule XXXI, paragraph 6 of the Standing Rules of the Senate. On March 21, 2013, President Obama nominated Patricia M. Wald to be a Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a term expiring January 29, 2019 (reappointment).

Medine’s nomination was held up for eight months, from 4/12 until 1/13. Why? FCMABBHO resubmitted his nomination on 1/22/13, and the Senate approved him in May.

I’m grasping at straws here, but something doesn’t set right with me.

          3. Something does not sit right, that’s for sure, only what I don’t know. I’m already a tinfoil hatter so black helicopters wouldn’t surprise me.

          4. You’re not the only ones mystified…

            via NYT
David H. Laufman, a former federal prosecutor in the United States, said it appeared that the Obama administration had flubbed Mr. Snowden’s case in at least two ways.

“What mystifies me is that the State Department didn’t revoke his passport after the charges were filed” on June 14, Mr. Laufman said. “They missed an opportunity to freeze him in place.”

He also expressed puzzlement at the decision to unseal the criminal charges on Friday, possibly prompting Mr. Snowden to flee. The standard practice in such cases is to unseal the charges only after the defendant is in custody, he said.

  8. Is he going to send his executive orders to the Sun? And will it pay him any attention? What a doofus. Somebody should lock him in a room with the WUWT archives.

  9. I just reread the Constitution. Can someone who is a constitutional scholar point out what sections of the Constitution grant a president these powers of “Executive Fiat”? Once again the republicans (and democrats) in Congress fail to uphold their Constitutional Oaths and let this crypto-communist/muslim of a president usurp more and more power. To paraphrase President Reagan “I didn’t leave the republican party, the republican party left me”. Conservatives are now like the Israelites. wandering in the Wilderness, in this case without a party they can call their own. No more voting for the lesser of two evils, no more contributions to the republican party. My vote will be based on my beliefs, my duty to my country, and my conscience. If voting this way is labeled as wasting my vote, by other republicans and conservatives, then so be it, because voting republican sure as hell isn’t working now.

    1. Executive orders have been used by presidents since Washington, but I doubt he and the other Founders had in mind the kind of power those orders have gained since then.

      1. Precisely my point. Dictatorial powers by Executive Fiat. Unconstitutional and where is Congress, particularly the republicans whom we voted into office to protect and defend the constitution and our individual rights of liberty. Where are they?

        1. Some would argue that a president’s power to issue an order can be found in Art. II, sect. 3, clause 5 “he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,…” But, does this apply to acts of Congress only, or to the the cabinet offices and their agencies as well?

          1. Good discussion, guys. You would think the Supreme Court should settle the definition and limits of executive orders, but I do not trust the court after the Obamacare ruling.

    1. This won’t hurt the poorest of the poor. They’ll still live in Section 8 housing, will still get food stamps, will still get heating assistance, et cet. It will hurt the middle class, though. Not only will their electricity costs increase, so will their grocery bills since it will cost more to grow the food and get it to the market. The same will happen to the costs of all other goods.

  10. Global Warming, my @$$. Temps here in Georgia are cooler than normal for this time of year and our years-long drought appears to have ended.

  11. OT, but the Grifters-in-Chief are taking off for Africa on Wednesday. Nelson Mandela is in critical condition now, and I hope they don’t try to make political hay with this dying man one final time.

    1. Was thinking the same thing. It certainly will cast a pall on the family vacation. I wonder if the O’s will cancel the family vacation if Mandela dies before Wednesday.

  12. Possibilty of a huge new program to control Americans? – Check.

Possibility of a way to tax hated corporations, who will pass the taxes to the citizens, the no-information voters of which won’t even realize their prices went up because of the government tax? – Check.

Possibility of damaging the United States economy further? – Check

Possibility of a wedge issue to beat Republicans up with? – Check.

What about the most IMPORTANT thing?

CERTAINTY of changing the subject from the IRS and Benghazi – CHECK!

  13. N.B. to anyone who things Obama makes sense;

“Along comes Steve McIntyre, a Canadian analyst, who spends two years of his own personal time reverse-engineering Dr. Mann’s PCA program. McIntyre subjects Mann’s PCA program to a “Monte Carlo” analysis – which inserts random data sets into the function – and discovered that no matter what data he fed it, the result was always the same. The arm of the “hockey stick” ( paleo-record ) always came out straight. In Dr. Mann’s case, the rising temperature of the Medieval Warm Period and the expected trough of the Little Ice Age had been completely erased. The hockey stick was broken. Fini. Kaput. We may never know whether Mann’s work was deliberately contrived to fit some personal environmental agenda, or just a colossal mathematical blunder.

McIntyre submitted his work to Nature Magazine – since they were responsible for publishing Mann’s flawed research without peer review in the first place, but they reportedly rejected it, saying it was “too long”. He then shortened it to 500 words, and re-submitted it, but again it was rejected, this time saying it was “too mathematical” or words to that effect. Heaven forbid any publication calling itself an “International Weekly Journal of Science” from actually publishing any science that hinged on mathematics. Let’s all push a yard stick into the snow, measure the snow depth, call ourselves “climate scientists”, and get published in Nature. In the end, McIntyre turned to the internet and its true freedom of the press, and today he is known to every serious climate scientist on the planet as the man who broke the hockey stick.

The National Academy of Sciences has found Mann’s graph to have “a validation skill not significantly different from zero” – i.e., the graph was useless. Note the corrected version, below, in which neither today’s temperatures nor the rate of warming are particularly unusual compared to the historical record. Thus, even the “global warming” of the 20th century was not even remotely a cause for the slightest alarm. It was all “much to do about nothing”.

The Medieval Warm Period, of which the proponents of Anthropogenic Global Warming don’t want you to be aware, was a period in which agriculture flourished, helping Europe emerge from the Dark Ages.
The Little Ice Age produced crop failures from too-short growing seasons leading to widespread hunger and even starvation in some more northern locales.

Since our emergence from the Little Ice Age, agriculture has again flourished, and most of us hope it lasts quite a while longer. This is certainly no cause for panic, and a few of us think being comfortably warm and having plenty to eat is actually good.”

I would recommend reading the whole article. Much information and fact proving that Global Warming is much ado about nothing environmentally, but has a LOT to do with political power…

  14. Been here before, haven’t we?

“In order to understand the liberal and progressive agenda, one must know something about their world vision and values. Let’s examine some of the evidence.

Why the 1970s struggle to ban DDT? Alexander King, founder of the Malthusian Club of Rome, wrote in a 1990 biographical essay: “My own doubts came when DDT was introduced for civilian use. In Guyana, within two years, it had almost eliminated malaria, but at the same time the birth rate had doubled. So my chief quarrel with DDT, in hindsight, is that it has greatly added to the population problem.”

Dr. Charles Wurster, former chief scientist for the Environmental Defense Fund, was once asked whether he thought a ban on DDT would result in the use of more dangerous chemicals and more malaria cases in Sri Lanka. He replied: “Probably. So what? People are the cause of all the problems. We have too many of them. We need to get rid of some of them, and (malaria) is as good a way as any.”

According to “Earthbound,” a collection of essays on environmental ethics, William Aiken said: “Massive human diebacks would be good. It is our duty to cause them. It is our species’ duty, relative to the whole, to eliminate 90 percent of our numbers.”

Former National Park Service research biologist David Graber opined, “Human happiness, and certainly human fecundity, are not as important as a wild and healthy planet. … We have become a plague upon ourselves and upon the Earth. … Until such time as Homo sapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along.”

Speaking of viruses, Prince Philip — Duke of Edinburgh and patron of the World Wildlife Fund — said, “If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.” The late Jacques Cousteau told The UNESCO Courier: “One America burdens the earth much more than twenty Bangladeshes. This is a terrible thing to say. In order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 people per day. It is a horrible thing to say, but it’s just as bad not to say it.”

That represents the values of some progressives, but what about their predictions? In 1972, a report was written for the Club of Rome to warn that the world would run out of gold by 1981, mercury and silver by 1985, tin by 1987, and petroleum, copper, lead and natural gas by 1992. It turns out that each of these resources is more plentiful today. Gordon Taylor, in his 1970 book, “The Doomsday Book,” said that Americans were using 50 percent of the world’s resources and that “by 2000 (Americans) will, if permitted, be using all of them.”

In 1975, the Environment Fund took out full-page ads warning, “The World as we know it will likely be ruined by the year 2000.” Harvard University Nobel laureate biologist George Wald in 1970 warned, “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” Former Sen. Gaylord Nelson, quoting Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, warned, in Look magazine (1970), that by 1995, “somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.” In 1974, the U.S. Geological Survey said the U.S. had only a 10-year supply of natural gas. The fact of the matter, according to the American Gas Association, is that there’s more than a 110-year supply.

In 1986, Lester Brown, who had been predicting global starvation for 40 years, received a MacArthur Foundation “genius” award, along with a stipend. The foundation also gave Dr. Paul Ehrlich, who predicted millions of Americans would die of starvation, the “genius” award in 1990. Note that these $300,000 to $400,000 awards were granted well after enough time had passed to demonstrate that Brown and Ehrlich were insanely wrong.

Just think: Congress listens to people like these and formulates public policy on their dire predictions that we’re running out of something.

  15. And, if you really think Obama’s concerned about actual, you know, life forms and such;

“Should companies be treated equally? According to a Wall Street Journal op-ed (9/7/2009) by Manhattan Institute’s energy expert Robert Bryce, Exxon Mobil pleaded guilty in federal court to killing 85 birds that had come into contact with its pollutants. The company paid $600,000 in fines and fees.

A recent Associated Press story (5/14/2013) reported that “more than 573,000 birds are killed by the country’s wind farms each year, including 83,000 hunting birds such as hawks, falcons and eagles, according to an estimate published in March in the peer-reviewed Wildlife Society Bulletin.”

The Obama administration has never fined or prosecuted windmill farms, sometimes called bird Cuisinarts, for killing eagles and other protected bird species. In fact, AP reports that the Obama administration has shielded the industry from liability and has helped keep the scope of the deaths secret. It’s interesting that The Associated Press chose to report the story only after the news about its reporters being secretly investigated. That caused the Obama administration to fall a bit out of favor with them.

But what the heck, the 14th Amendment’s requirement of “equal protection” before the law for everybody can be cast aside in the name of diversity, so why can’t it be cast aside in the name of saving the planet? There are politically favored industries just as there are politically favored groups.”

  17. It never ceases to amaze me that the first place the government always points their finger – is at the public. How about they look into a mirror – and as the old adage clearly states “we have met the enemy and it is us”.

Global Warming is a scam and a lie – it has been proven undeniably that it is a purely manufactured process – period. Climate change has been around since the dawn of time, and will be here long after every one of us have been long dead and buried.

What is not natural is geoengineering the weather. Modifying it and manufacturing through HAARP technology and the dumping of 10 to 20 million tons of aluminum oxide, Barium, strontium and other agents into the atmosphere to block the suns rays.

No, this is NOT a tin foil hat conspiracy theory – it is a fact – look at the following links:

These are but a very few of the many links of the multitudes of available research exposing it.

IF Obama really wants to stop what his administration terms as “Global Warming” then the first step is to immediately eliminate all weather modification programs currently being carried out throughout the world.

The end result (to date) has been unusual weather patterns (that conveniently occur whenever the government is exposed in a scandal), droughts, record wildfires, crop failures, etc. All of which are verifiable.

Rather than dismiss this as conspiracy drivel – take the time to prove it wrong. However, it is rather impossible to do, when you research the all the current and past patents, the documentation and remarks made by geoengineers like David Kieth.

Weather as a force multiplier – is the military’s definition of a weapon. One that is being deployed against the American public and the rest of the world under the guise of “geoengineering”.

Weather modification is nothing new – it has been around for a very long time, however, when you artificially disrupt the natural process of weather patterns in one part of the world – it affects the weather patterns in another part of the world. Every country has its own program – it is time to stop them all and let the planet do what it has always done – leave mans intervention out of the equation before we destroy this planet we call home.

Research the record cold spells, flooding, blizzards and snow in warm weather, destruction of the polar ice caps.

On another note research Monsanto’s development of an aluminum resistant seed – then ask yourself why would they need it – unless the 10 – 20 million tons of Aluminum Oxide being dumped into the atmosphere has something to do with it.

Research the raise in Autism, Alzheimers and respiratory ailments across the globe through the CDC on heavy spray days and then connect the dots.
