In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Issa Demands Answers on State Department Coverup

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is demanding documents related to charges that senior aides to Secretary of State Clinton quashed Office of Inspector General probes into misbehavior by various State Department officials.

Issa wrote today to State Department Deputy Inspector General Howard Geisel:

“The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has jurisdiction over the community of federal inspectors general. One of the Committee’s primary responsibilities in that area is ensuring the independence and effectiveness of each OIG,” Issa wrote in a letter to Howard Geisel, the Deputy Inspector General at the State Department. “As such, the Committee must thoroughly investigate the implication that the Department influenced the integrity of an OIG investigation, and the actions ofthe OIG in question.”

State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the department is looking into things. Now that makes me feel better.

  1. For pete’s sake, can’t the Congressman focus on one or two things? As scandals go, the misbehavior of some men while on security detail for MrsClinton is a personnel matter, maybe even criminal, but doesn’t affect the taxpayers the way Benghazi and the IRS illegal activity has.

The best he would get out of an investigation into this matter would be lies, stonewalling, and force the Dems to put up another wall to protect MrsClinton.

    1. maybe if he holds his breath till his face turns blue and kicks his feet…I was looking forward to the possibility of taking the senate in 2014 and retaining the house. At this point, I don’t think it would make a bit of difference if we did.

  2. this is just the logical extension of ‘community policing,’ which I’m sure Alinskyite organizer Obama was in favor of. State investigates malfeasance at State; Justice does same at Justice. and of course at the EPA, if anything goes wrong, “Richard Windsor” investigates it.

if the White House becomes seriously implicated in any of these scandals, I’m sure Obama will ask David Plouffe to look into it right away.

  3. Since the liberals always get away with all kinds of shenanigansI, I for
one am delighted that Rep. Issa is charging full speed ahead. Let’s
hope this does some good. Congress’s popularity is in the toilet, and maybe this is the way to get their popularity back.
