As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Napolitano: Trigger Shmigger

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano opposes a “trigger” that would require securing the border – at least to some defined point – before allowing a pathway for illegal immigrants.

According to the Huffington Post:

“I think that once people really look at the whole system and how it works, relying on one thing as a so-called ‘trigger’ is not the way to go,” she said at a Christian Science Monitor event. “There needs to be some kind of certainty in the bill so that people can know when they can legalize and then when the pathway to citizenship, earned citizenship, will open up.”

The White House has been coy on whether President Obama would support such a trigger, which would be a key component of any deal that wants to attract Republicans. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney Tuesday dodged a question about whether Obama agrees with Napolitano.

Let’s face it, Democrats want blanket amnesty, to be repeated by another blanket amnesty in 25 years, just like this one would be a repeat of the 1986 amnesty. If they can ram it through before taking time to secure the border, they will. After all, why throw away all those Democratic voters pouring in from South of the Border?

Like Napolitano said at the same breakfast, Arizona is set to turn purple and then blue – just like Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado – as low-wage Latino immigrants pile in to pull the lever for Democrats. California is long gone for the Republicans, and Democrats are even salivating at the thought of picking up Texas one day soon.

Sure, most Democrats probably believe immigration reform is good policy. But they are also building a Dr. Frankenstein laboratory for minting live new Democratic voters.

H/T Hot Air.

  1. Democrats believe in blanket amnesty all day, everyday. If they could they would say, everyone come here and in 5 years you’ll be a full fledged citizen.
They believe in border to grave government assistance.
    They truly do.

And the power that comes with that is FANTASTIC, BABY!

    • This is a huge problem for the Republicans. Incidentally, the Democrats are grabbing votes wherever they can: the Democratic controlled Oregon State Legislature will pass a bill allowing 16 year old Oregonians to register to vote when they get their driver’s licenses. Supposedly they will not be able to vote until they are 18 so why register them at 16? (That’s a rhetorical question.) The state of Illinois is giving out driver’s licenses to illegals, and I wouldn’t doubt that they will soon be registering them as ‘future’ voters.

  2. Maybe the Republicans should take up Rush Limbaugh’s amnesty plan. He would support amnesty if the newly minted citizens cannot vote for 25 years. Betcha not one of the supposedly bleeding heart Democrats would support that plan. Sure would expose their intentions, but the foolish Republicans are too timid to propose that kind of plan.

    • I doubt if that could be enforced anyway. They will have photo I.D.s and will be allowed to register at the polls on election day as is happening right now.

        • Exactly! I’m not familiar with the fine points of the Hatch Act, but I read somewhere yesterday that this provision of Obamacare might be challenged under the Hatch Act.

          • The Hatch Act of 1939, officially An Act to Prevent Pernicious Political Activities, is a United States federal law whose main provision is to prohibit employees (civil servants) in the executive branch of the federal government, except the president, vice-president, and certain designated high-level officials of the executive branch, from engaging in partisan political activity. The law was named for Senator Carl Hatch of New Mexico. It was most recently amended in 2012. (WIKI)

      • Oh enforcement-shimforcement (thanks, Keith). Since when has this government legislated any law that concerns itself with the Constitution and the rule of law. We have to shame these people into taking off their masks. If the ruling class isn’t challenged, they will hide behind their fake persona of caring about the safety of us and our children.

  3. Arizona is still like garlic to vampires after the enactment of SB1070, even after some of the bill was struck down or modified. There is no massive movement of illegal aliens residing in Arizona as there are in sanctuary states.

However. There is a massive movement of former California residents into our state as they escape the higher taxes and what they call the “browning” of their state. Like all immigrants, they bring their prejudices, their liberal leanings, and poor judgement that was responsible for the ills of California with them and vote accordingly. They like the way our state is run, the conservative allocation of funds, but then forgetting that their poor judgement caused California to become the mess of America, they call for greater liberal actions.

Some day, and it will come, the illegal aliens that the Dems are courting will come to realize that they are nothing but votes for their agenda, that the business community thinks of them only as cheap labor to be exploited, and they will turn to the Repubs whose platform more resembles their own conservative views of life.

    • We’re seeing lots of transplanted Californians here in Texas too, srdem. Liberals are like locust – they produce nothing and consume everything in their path. They swarm a state and once they have sucked the life blood out of it, they leave the carcass behind and look for their next victim.

      • Oregon too. You don’t hear about us because we’re a smaller state, but Californians are moving here and bringing their liberal disease with them.

      • Exactly why I thought Perry was crazy for going to CA to court business owners. The business owners themselves might be fine, but if they bring a certain number of their liberal empoyees with them in a move, TX gets the shaft, all for a buck or two of economic benefit.

  4. Maybe I got it wrong (wouldn’t be the first time!), but did I hear that Big Sis might throw her hat into the POTUS ring for 2016? Now that’s a scary thought!

    • she is looking at a couple of options.. presidential run, take out Holder and be the next Atty General, or even run for Gov again. If Arizona were to take her back as Gov…. well, I don’t even want to think of how that would turn out.

  5. While Big Sis is talking triggers, when does she plan to answer the questions about the ammunition recently purchased by her agency? I fully support law enforcement weapon proficiency but if they REALLY need this much ammo for training, I suggest they spend the money on vision exams instead!

  6. I wonder what the Democrat position on immigration would be if the majority of those imports voted Republican. Surely there’s no hypocrisy on the left side of the aisle.

    • surprise surprise surprise…… what secure borders we have ;-) Checked a couple of MSM sites, no mention of the tweet. Maybe Leno will comment.. lol.

  7. i’ve got as simple “trigger”:

if there are illegal aliens trying to enter the country, you stop them and, if they are already here, you deport them, after taking DNA samples, etc, so they can never apply for legal immigration in the future.
