Hillary Clinton announced today that she supports gay marriage.
WOW, THAT’S A MIND BLOWING SHOCKER.
She did it somewhere within six minutes of video mumbo jumbo taped so Hillary could pretend she wasn’t pretending when she previously opposed gay marriage.
So our Hillary, who gave the commencement address four decades ago at her lefty alma mater, the all-female Wellesley College – where she wrote her senior thesis on Saul Alinsky – and who has been a devoted liberal all the succeeding four decades of her adult life, just got down with gay marriage?
If someone can prove this to me, I will pretend my computer is in fact a for-real apple, and eat it. The whole thing, including the separate keyboard, and the mouse. And the mousepad for dessert.
“Like so many others, my personal views have been shaped over time by people I have known and have loved, by my experience representing the nation on the world stage, my devotion to law and to human rights, and the guiding principles of my faith,” she said.
Excuse me, but, HER PERSONAL VIEWS HAVE BEEN SHAPED OVER TIME BY THE POLITICAL EXIGENCIES OF THE MOMENT.
I get why she and then-Sen. Obama said during 2008 that they opposed gay marriage. They wanted, as Bill Clinton memorably put it while he was successfully dodging the draft in the 1960s, “to maintain my political viability within the system.” They wanted to be president.
Okay, fine, just don’t give me six minutes of garbage positioning yourself for 2016 against others who evolved more quickly on the issue by noting you had fought for gay rights as Secretary of State and talked to so many people and thought so hard about this and blah blah blah blah blah.
Actually such dissimulation and hypocrisy should be more insulting to gay and lesbian Americans, who are being used as political tools, than anyone else.
Here’s her announcement, if you can stand it. Sorry to torture you.
And now this . . .
