      I watched a movie in which a lesbian couple’s kids meet their sperm donor. Pretty lame movie. But it beat the alternative. Ruffalo looks like an old BF, so that part was OK. Did anything happen nationally? (kidding)

    Cokie Roberts says GOP is the party of white guys. Bigoted Democratic white guys were ok, though, when Big Daddy was in the Congress. And I remember her in 2008 before she was for Obama saying that Hawaii was just like a foreign country. Too bad our TVs don’t come equipped with hooks.

    yeah… that is going to get the economy going. This man is clueless. Raising the min wage has only proven to reduce employment. The best way to increase your income is to provide VALUE.

      when i lived in Ann Arbor, MI, they had a living wage ordinace. It was the first time i saw automatic check out lines in the grocery. Raising the min wage only make technology a better investment or alternative which will reduce employment. Tie in taxes, obamacare, regulations, and unions, why hire someone to actually take care of a customer?

      I caught that too. Like us, we’ve heard it all before, the same old..tax and spend.
      His ideas are great, it would be wonderful if we could afford to do what he proposes, but we’re broke. In debt.

      Question; were there empty seats or did it just look that way?

        I am nto so sure we should do all this from the central govt even if we could afford it. Why should someone in Washington State pay to fill a pothole in Chandler AZ? What happened to bond issues–that pay decent interest etc.

      I had Fox on with the sound off until Rubio came on, but I noticed that Fox had instant polling on-going throughout the speech, and the graph lines for Democrats, Republicans and Independents remained in the negative area throughout. There was no noticeable gender disparity either.

        Fox partnered with Bing last night and as we watched the SOTU we voted in real time on Bing. It allowed you to vote every 5 seconds. I never once saw the vote average enter the positive range.

    Studies have shown that Head Start does nothing to prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond, yet Obama wants every 4 year old in preschool. No more childhood, just indoctrination, the earlier, the better. All it is is governmental babysitting.

      Well, when the inflation hits from printing all of this money, every household will have to have at least 2 wage earners, so he’s saving us all the trouble of figuring out what to do with the kids. Bless his heart!

      I’m right there with you. But to add to what you say – most moms and dads both work so they are ok with putting their 4 year old in school so they don’t have to pay for day care. Much of where we are today is our own fault.

          I don’t see any problem with the 1950s. But that’s not at issue here. What is at issue is that the government is smack dab in the middle of our business and are now requiring that 4 year olds go to preschool. I think some parents, because it makes their lives easier, allow the government to continue to do this. I will determine whether preschool is OK or not for my child.

    Obama boasted last night that he put more boots on the border than at any time in our past history and he has reduced illegal crossings to their lowest level in 40 years. If that is so, it’s only because they aren’t enforcing immigration laws.

      he may have put them on the border but a good % of them (national guard / reservists) could only watch and make a call on activity last year. Their deployment made allot of media hoopla but didn’t slow down the crossings. The group on the other side of the border knew they were about and just moved their activity to another area. It’s a huge game of hide and seek down there.

    Another promise from Obama 2008 was minimum wages would be $9.50 an hour by 2011. Last night he said he wants to raise minimum wages to $9 an hour. Guess he forgot about his earlier promise…

    Another thought – how did those illegal aliens gain entry to the SOTU last night? I thought everyone attending had to provide ID and a SS#. Did they bend the security rules for the illegals?

      yup.. they did. Just like the illegal alien who testified before the Senate as ICE watched and could do nothing. Granted he is a high profile illegal, but still not right. But maybe they are tending the magic money tree?
