As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Quote of the Day || August 2, 2012

“Of course I want Churchill’s bust back in the Oval Office. I mean, just because my grandfather was held for two years without trial and tortured by the British while Churchill was prime minister doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to be looking at his bust every day.”

– Barack Obama

  1. Churchillian times- yes, those were the days when the West seemed united.
Big breaking news today over here is that Obama secretly decided that US is to support and back the Syrian rebels. Here some of the media has finally started to look more thoroughly into who these rebels really are and what they do. The picture is not pretty. Many groups, many extremist muslims, reports of massacres, murder and torture. Maybe the US repeats the mistake in Afghanistan when the rebels ( including Bin Laden and his followers ) were armed by the US . I guess these violent, hateful men will just grab the offered weapons and then laugh at the Wests gullibility. The Christians in Syria fear for their lifes now. I think it´s wrong to pour more gasoline into a civil war in this violent region but then maybe I , a faraway woman from the cold and stable North, am unaware of the political chess politicians play here.

  2. “I’ll put the bust of Churchill on my desk between the busts of Rev. Wright and David Ayers. That should keep him in good company and provide the proper perspective for my thinking.” BO

  3. I’m not sure I’d want to look at that strange rendition of WinstonChurchill in my office either. But, personal feelings aside, rather than return the bust to the BritishEmbassy, it would have been more politic to place it in public view somewhere in the WhiteHouse.
