In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Takes the Week Off

President Obama appears to be mostly taking the week off, making a rare sojourn at Camp David through Tuesday before celebrating the Fourth of July and then heading out on the campaign trail.

Obama presumably also has his usual August vacation lined up as well, though it’s not been announced where he will be headed. It is known, though, that with an election coming up, Obama will not be restoring himself at his customary location, the super-rich enclave of Martha’s Vineyard.

Obama at Camp DavidThe president has grumbled that Mitt Romney can campaign full time while he continues to have to perform his day job, but it’s questionable how many hours he’s putting in at the office. Obama found time for 33 fundraisers in June and campaigned widely, sometimes returning to the White House after Midnight and then sleeping in the next day.

Obama will return to the the White House from Camp David Tuesday and then preside over the White House Fourth of July festivities Wednesday. He will be campaigning in the critical battleground states of Ohio and Pennsylvania Thursday and Friday.

The White House often argues that Obama can perform his duties as president anywhere and suggests that’s exactly what he’s doing when he appears to be obviously resting or campaigning.

But it’s hard to see why he would head to Camp David for a long weekend – he’s been there since Saturday – if his goal was to focus on matters of State. And the Thursday and Friday campaign romp will be of the type from which it’s the least easy for him to conduct business – a barnstorming bus tour.

  1. The president has grumbled that Mitt Romney can campaign full time while he continues to have to perform his day job….

This fraud is a very small minded man. YOUR “day” JOB YOU TOOL is to do the best you can for AMERICA! You truly are in over you small minded head. Loser.

  2. As we’ve observed on countless occasions in the past: Obama has a shamelessly slothful work ethic that makes a slug seem like a workaholic in comparison. This is all good, however, because when he gives the appearance of working, Americans get the shaft. The best of all possible scenarios between now and November is for Obama to stay on vacation, and take the missus with him. Forget the expense, we’ll make that up on the backside once they’re gone.

  3. “The president has grumbled that Mitt Romney can campaign full time while he continues to have to perform his day job” When did the little turd EVER perform his day job?

  4. Analogy heard today:

Re-electing Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and ramming the iceberg again.

    Truer words were never spoken.

  5. In 2008 Obama claimed he had all the answers and all we got was blame Bush, now its time we give someone else a try rather then repeat the same old rhetoric and the same old excuses.

Someone once said ‘insanity’ was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, lets stop the insanity!

  6. Taking off only a WEEK?! Hey, Barrack, We The People don’t mind…go ahead and take off the next few months, we’re actually quite tired of seeing and hearing you. Go away and have fun! Go away and play golf. But mainly, JUST GO AWAY! For good. We’re arranging a little going-away effort for you in November, so until then… just do America a HUGE favor and GO AWAY.

    1. Just think of all the money I will save on remote controls if he stays away for a while. In the past four years I have worn out six of them by muting and/or changing channels whenever his ugly freaking mug appears on my TV.

  7. Well, it’s good to see he plays pool, as well. I mean 100 rounds of golf can get tiring in a 3 year period. Gotta slow jam the recreation by playin’ a little stick.
I’ll challenge the President to a game of 9-ball. Winner gets to do whatever he wants to with healthcare. When I win (which I will), I’ll repeal completely.

  8. It seems to me he’s on a perpetual vacation and it’s gonna get worse if he loses election in November (praise God he will). He and Michelle will take every trip imaginable on our dollar and not feel one bit guilty. What a piece of ****!

    1. Not true, that’s when he will get down to work pardoning every crook, deadbeat, welfare cheat, czar, Holder and all his cronies. Then he will us decrees to complete the destruction of our country between November and January.

  9. He has to “reward himself” for the SCOTUS decison. Remember his comment: any excuse for a party?

it’s his typical immature, exploitive, America-hating attitude.

Keep keeping track Keith. His endless golf, vacations, games and parties need to go into the Romney ads!

  10. Another move that just makes this FRAUD look weak.
Envy thing the touches seems to be turning sour.
( but y’all know what the above sentence really says !

  11. Pour Obama, has to do his day job. Playing Golf, Celebrity Funds Raisers, White House Parties, Jetting around on Air Force One, Talking to his Teleprompter, Taking Vacations and Complaining life is tough and it’s always somebody elses fault.
    Pour Liberal Socialist.

  12. That poor man, to hear his subjects speak like this about him. But will it affect him? I think not. He will return to the WH, graciously issue his blessings during that silly July 4th thing and will then throw himself back into campaign mode, never missing a beat. What a guy!

  13. “It is known, though, that with an election coming up, Obama will not be restoring himself at his customary location, the super-rich enclave of Martha’s Vineyard.”

“I feel your pain. I understand. So Michelle and the kids and I are taking a ‘staycation’ at the White House. Sasha! Malia! Is that wading pool blown up yet?”

  14. “The president has grumbled that Mitt Romney can campaign full time while he continues to have to perform his day job, but it’s questionable how many hours he’s putting in at the office.” In other words, he has no time to hit the campaign trail and lie about what he has accomplished. It’s like listening to a little kid. He really needs some counseling. I honestly think he is in the wrong line of work. He should consider a golf club job.

  15. Bet he’s going to Maine…I know how he’s so concerned about giving the wrong impression if he goes off with the rich people on the vineyard…although I would find it very amusing if he went to Nantucket!

  16. With no golf course at Camp David, the President obviously choose this period and the seclusion of the Camp for a campaign strategy re-make. Obama’s campaign contributions are down……… drastically. Note he had a two to one spending advantage against McSame in ’08. And his “message” isn’t arousing anyone but his hardcore sycophants, all of whom are getting poorer by the day. Add a population of Middle Class workers who just figured out that it is they who, after paying for their own families policies, will be TAXED to pay for the healthcare of those 30 million “newly insured”, compliments of the “Grape Flavored Savior”.

  17. Reports say no electric in DC. That would be the only reason he would spend so much time at Camp David. It is much too rustic for one of such “refined” sensibilities. We all know there is no way he would ever endure the same disadvantages of common folk.
His “barnstorming bus tour” will be much like the last one , staying in upscale hotels, bogging down traffic and then riding on bus only long to get off so people might be fooled into thinking he is an average person.
Is there anyone left in America that actually believes this administration would “ever” spend any large amount of time on a bus?

  18. Seems like that’s probably his best bet. He doesn’t know or care about why he’s doing. Might as well get the hell out of the way. It’s a fairly consistent theme with him. Stuff breaks, “Hey, anybody seen Barry?”

  19. Spend, Baby, Spend seems to be the O’s mantra. He’s given us the BIGGEST tax hike in history, We now have the Biggest national debt ever What do we have to show for it? A President who trashes his country at every opportunity. spits in the faces of the Military who is protecting the United States, who signs executive orders in complete opposition to our Constitution. Spends as much time as he can in Air Force One and NOT in the White House, or on a golf course or on vacation, each one costing the taxpayer more than the last. Yes, it’s spend, baby, spend. We can’t afford another 4 years. We’re on the fast track to becoming a third world country.

  20. It’s interesting how there were two major blizzards in Washington DC in March 2010 while Obamacare was being debated. Then there was the earthquake. Then there was that big storm last Friday the day after SCOTUS announced their ruling on Obamacare. Don’t mean to make too much out of…just saying…

  21. How would we know the difference this clown has been on vacation for last 4 years and suddenly it is re-election OBOZO wants to get busy

  22. It will be news when he actually “works for a week”, with no speeches, fundraisers, photo ops, complaints, golfing, party, complaints, press releases, conferences, sports, B-ball, tweeting, etc.
You know, basically performing the duties of a president and not a multimillionaire, jet setter, celebrity, or rock star –lol, they actually put in more work hours than O has –.

  23. He wouldn’t have had to worry about campaigning if he had done his job right. The job he has done speaks for itself, and it’s not good!!

  24. I have NEVER heard of a President grumbling about having to be president before! Let’s look at his schedule,He doesn’t start until 9:00 or 9:30and he probably went on more vacations than any other president before ! People at top levels of thier proffesion [CEO’S, Bisiness Owners etc.] probably start thier days around 6:00 or 7;00 A M [ G.W.Bush had meetings starting at 7:00 am] . So come November we should vote this lazy sob out of his position so he can have all the time off he wants!

  25. Why stop at a week take the rest of your life off!!!! Play some golf and enjoy life but get out of the Govt. of our country!!!!

  26. I see another Katrina brewing here, DC is dark because of the storms and Obama has retreated to Camp David allowing al his supporters to remain the the heat and darkness.

  27. My wife passed away in Nov. 2010 after 24yrs of marriage, even though I had a little time off for grieving which I am in no way over with yet, I have not had a real vacation in over 2 years. Every time I see reports of our President or his wife or both taking another vacation makes me want to cry or just give up on everything. I have lost our house to foreclosure and have outstanding medical bills to pay off. I can’t seem to get ahead of everything even though I try my best in my circumstance. With all of the stress they have to put up with, I hope he has a nice relaxing vacation with his family. Way To Go O!

      1. what jim said and try not to get too mad (i know it’s not easy) that just means he is getting the better of you, don’t waste your precious time

        1. Thank You both. I try not to let it get to me i.e.; staying away from “news stories” but sometimes it can’t be helped. Come November my vote will be for the other guy. God Bless you both.

          1. It gets to me too and I can’t stay away from the news like I should, I am semi employed here and the money is going out faster than coming in

I am no romney fan but november is crucial! this guy cannot win again-he will ruin the country even further
            Good luck to us all

  28. Gee, a week off of the watch the world burn while I campaign and golf endlessly, because Bush and the Republicans are evil, always out of Nicolette, look at that guys a$$, Mooshelle don’t let me eat this at home tour?

  29. “week off?”…Obama has been on a vacation for the past three & a half years…

Not to worry, in 4 months we’re gonna correct the ’08 mistake & give Obama a permanent vacation from the presidency on 1/20.
