In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

“Thank goodness Roberts didn’t read the bill either.”

– Nancy Pelosi

A note from our attorneys: This is not a real quote

  1. “So we didn’t need to pass the bill to see what was in it – it’s so long nobody wants to read it.” – The Runaway Bride (a.k.a. Nancy Pelosi a.k.a. Deer in Headlights).

  2. I’m sure he didn’t read it; there’s no way the US can tax somebody for not doing something. A punitive fine is not a tax. Even if the IRS is charged with collecting your money for not having health insurance, it’s still not a tax.

This law will provide lawyers with a never-ending cache of lawsuits, and will prove to be the undoing of the government health-care scheme to tax the people.

  3. Good news, bad news. We may not like seeing the sausage being made, but at least we are learning more and more about the process. I found the following interesting regarding whether tax legislation has to begin in the House and how Obamacare was written into a shell bill by Harry Reid.

“Unless I’m missing something, no. The bill that passed the Senate wasn’t technically a Senate bill. Reid took a bill that had already passed the House, stripped out the provisions to turn it into a “shell bill,” and then inserted the text of ObamaCare to get around this requirement. The bill that passed the Senate was H.R.3590, which initially had to do with tax breaks for military homeowners. And yes, they’ve used the “shell bill” strategy before. In fact, the conservative opinion today specifically mentioned Article I, section 7 at one point while raising no objection to Reid’s sleight of hand. ”

If you’re interested I saw this here :

      1. These sleazy tactics legislators use to get around their constitutional obligations need to come to an end. Congress is so rife with corruption it might take a wholesale thumping of progressives on both sides of the aisles to make it stop. November 6th will be our second chance to turn as many of them out as we can…

  4. They didn’t read it. They couldn’t possibly have read it and ruled the way they did. This is infuriating. NOBODY involved with making this happen has actually read the bill.

This has to be political but I can’t figure out how. Why on earth would Roberts vote to save Obamacare after that public dressing-down at the SOTU?

Damn you, George W. Bush. I don’t want to hear any more whining about missing that mofo. This is HIS fault.

There is only one good thing to come of this ruling. I now have proof that I am smarter than five of the Supremes.

    1. We hope. Still to be determined on Nov.6. The vampire isn’t dead until the stake is driven through it’s heart. Count Obama could somehow escape and wreak havoc again, unfettered for another four years. If you think it could not get any worse…..
