In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

12 noon back to bed…..
Is this guy planning to work this wee or is this a campaign vacation for him?
SnarkEsq.
It’s mostly campaigning all week. Today is just his rest day in between big campaign days in NY and CA (and don’t forget the 6 fundraisers last Friday, June 1st!) I think they are making such a big fundraising push right out of the gate in June and won’t be letting up all month because they are desperate to report some big numbers for the second quarter.
Schedule for the Week of June 4, 2012:
On Monday, the President will travel to New York City where he will attend campaign events before returning to Washington, DC at night.
On Tuesday, the President will attend meetings at the White House.
On Wednesday, the President will travel to San Francisco, California and Los Angeles, California to attend campaign events. The President will spend the night in Los Angeles.
On Thursday, the President will travel to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for an official event. The President will return to Washington, DC in the evening.
On Friday, the President will welcome President Benigno Aquino of the Philippines to the White House for a bilateral meeting.
Also on Friday, the President will welcome the Super Bowl XLVI Champion New York Giants to the White House to honor the team and their Super Bowl victory.
——————
Note Thursday’s pit stop in Vegas on the way back from CA for an “official event” = he gets to bill the taxpayers for most of the trip back to DC.
So, let’s see, he did six cash grabs on Friday, June 1st. Then on Monday, June 4th, there were three. Wednesday, there will be at least two more in San Francisco and Los Angeles, but it could be as many as four to six more (two to three per city, as he’s been doing lately).
That makes at least ELEVEN fundraisers for this month and only by June 6th! Four business days so far (June 1, 4, 5, and 6) and he has fundraisers on three of those days, while resting on one day in between all the cash grabs. At least eleven fundraisers in only three days. Unbelievable!
Susan
He’s resting up for Wednesday when he’ll hop back on AF1 to troll for cash on the left coast…again.

Andrew Lloyd Webber should do a sequel to ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and call it ‘The Phantom of the White House’!

Girly1, I have never seen a single comment that so captures this Presidency as well as this one!

Does he get a binky and a nap?

You know . . . I really do hope that he is working on things that don’t show up on his schedule. He probably does. If he is like other professionals, they usually work between appointments that show on an appointment book. I really hope that is what happens with him.
The people who worked with Pres. Bush said he worked all of the time.

I was thinking that too. Lots of official business that’s not part of the public schedule. Nah, we’d see results of all that hard work.
I think he’s working the phones mostly with his big donors, and making little Chicago deals here and there. Working with his speech writers and schedulers to plot “official business” legs of his fundraising trips to help pay for his campaign trips.
Like I said a few threads ago, MO’s “official” commencement speech in Oregon next week will probably kick off a West Coast fundraising sweep and/or a vacation with the family.

working on things not on the schedule… more like scheming with that evil Valerie Jarrett…

Another grueling day… How DOES he do it?? ;-)

That sounds pretty much like my agenda for tomorrow:
Daily briefing: reading the morning paper.
Meets with senior advisors: chatting with my peer group.
The big difference is I am retired and my day starts at 7am.

I read an interesting article today on Drudge Report this morning: ” Russia turns east to embrace looming China”. The Russia-China axle is on the rise. Russia is a giant energy producer and China is a giant energy consumer. And China is also deeply into Africa, hunting for raw materials such as minerals. So, the world is positioning itself to this new world order. The US is in dire need of a strong, capable President, a person who commands respect across the globe. Who is in the White House right now ? Well, some guy who thinks it is cool to travel with Bon Jovi in the Air Force One.

I wrote a paper on the rise of a China-Russia axis of power in the 21st Century in college… some scarry stuff

This is the result of “Amateur Hour” at the White House. From the preezy on down and especially the Secretary of State who, by the way, is clueless.

Langley spook and Just2old, yes, it´s a new worrying power shift in the world. On the news over here I heard that Putin is to meet Ahmadinejad when in China. Russia-China can certainly push a new MidEast agenda as well.
I would love to have the President’s schedule. It sure beats even an 8-5 job with a half hour commute.
Quintis Arrius
What’s absent from his daily briefing is the time he no doubt spends on his drone-killing fetish. That’s gotta be 2-3 hours today on the footage showing Al Qeada’s number 2 being blown to bits. And this from the guy who thought waterboarding was wrong.

If Obama is personally picking-out who to kill, where is the outrage calling “Obama a war criminal”?
Quintis Arrius
He will find a nice way to say he is doing the work “previous adminstrations couldn’t or would do!” Follow that with “Send in 3 dollars and you too can have a brave service man chalk a message to the ALI-BABBAS on a Predator missle!”
Robin H
“Send in $3 and we won’t drop a drone on your house!”
