In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Could Lose Arkansas Democratic Primary

President Obama is barely leading an out of state challenger in the May 22 Arkansas Democratic primary, according to a local poll conducted by the respected Hendrix College and Talk Business Research.

The poll of likely voters has Obama leading Tennessee attorney John Wolfe by 45-38 percent. Wolfe is also running against Obama in the May 29 Texas primary, according to the Weekly Standard.

Wolfe’s apparently credible challenge comes just a week after Keith Judd, an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Texarkana, Texas, picked up 40 percent of the vote against Obama in the West Virginia primary.

If I were the RNC, I’d be pouring money into the Wolfe campaign. A Wolfe victory would actually be A SERIOUS MATTER for the Obama campaign.

Why? Because the president would begin to look a little ridiculous. Wolfe will start appearing on talk shows, gain momentum in Texas, and arrive at the Democratic convention parading around with his delegates and generally creating a spectacle that will attract reporters bored to tears by the Obama coronation.

They’ll do the roll call and someone will say, “The great state of Arkansas casts its votes for John Wolfe.”

One problem for Obama is that Wolfe doesn’t sound like a lunatic. I’m not saying he isn’t a lunatic. Just that he doesn’t sound like one.

Presidents really should not be losing primaries. Lyndon Johnson withdrew in 1968 simply because he didn’t win New Hampshire by as many votes as he was expected to.

Losing Arkansas would help create a sense among voters that something is very wrong. I would expect over the next week an strange infusion of buses and passenger vans into Arkansas to get Obama supporters to the polls.

  1. Yup. Send $3 to this guy. It will be enough if obummer has to even spend one dime to defend a primary. It could be the same as a loss. Hopefully this is a closed primary so there can be Lottie doubt of the impact.

  2. What makes this even more embarrassing is that the last Democrat president was from Arkansas – not like they can argue about a bunch of red necks

  3. Given the ‘investigations’ into Romney donors what kind of ‘accident’ do you think Mr. Wolfe may encounter in the coming weeks?

    1. No specific ideas. But certain people who have gotten in other certain people’s way have lost their jobs, their credibility, even their lives. This thugocracy does not play well with others.

  4. I’m so loving this. West Virginia felon, the dog eat dog fiasco, stay-at-home moms getting p.o.ed, and now another one of the redneck, bitter clinging, Bible loving States is giving the Prez another shellacking.

  5. “Losing Arkansas would help create a sense among voters that something is very wrong.”

Something IS very wrong! Ever since 1/20/09.
