In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Campaign Collecting GOP Emails

The Obama presidential campaign is launching an effort to collect Republican email addresses by inviting its supporters to submit information about their Republican associates to the Obama 2012 website.

The effort could help the Obama campaign build a database that would enable it to target Republican voters during the general election campaign. But, more perniciously, it could also become part of an Democratic effort to influence Republican primary voters to select a candidate Democrats think Obama could most easily defeat.

The Democratic National Committee last month released a video that seemed designed to damage Mitt Romney, the GOP candidate feared most by the Obama campaign.

The Obama information collection effort is cast under the mischievous guise of asking Obama supporters to “have a little fun at the expense of a Republican in your life” by signing them up to get an email from the Obama campaign ribbing them for having “inspired” the Obama supporter to donate.

The result, however, is that the Obama campaign gets a new trove of Republican email addresses that it could never have collected through voluntary submissions.

From the Obama website:

Who inspires you to give?

This holiday season, we’re giving you a chance to have a little fun at the expense of a Republican in your life by letting them know they inspired you to make a donation to the Obama campaign.

Simply enter their name and email address below. Then, we’ll send them a message letting them know they inspired you to donate.

Thank you for supporting this campaign, and happy holidays.

Important: By making a donation today, you’ll be automatically entered for a chance to have dinner with Barack and Michelle Obama. By clicking on the “Submit” button below or otherwise participating in the promotion, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and represent that you satisfy all of the eligibility requirements.

The effort is being supported by emails from the campaign to members of the vast Obama 2012 email list urging them to participate.

One message, from Deputy Campaign Manager Julianna Smoot, also invites donors to buy something from the Obama 2012 store for their Republican friend.

Really want to fire up your GOP friends? Buy them a gift from the 2012 store. I recommend the birther mugs — they get the message across pretty well.

The email was sent Tuesday. If the Obama supporter sends the gift directly to their Republican friend, then the campaign has a new personal address for its database.

  1. Kinda weak, don’t you think? If my Dem friends turn me in, I can just delete any emails–I tend to get them anyhow… Yeah, pretty funny–send your friends dopey irritating crap like a mug with a grinning mug on it… genius.

      1. Nope, not even the slightest inkling.

Their are so enamored with their own greatness, fairness and integrity that they think they should be part of every aspect of everyone’s life and with them in control there should be any concern.

        1. I have never made a political donation in my life, other than a local election.

This year I will donate the max I can to whoever is running against Obama.

          1. The Dems, are blinded by a politician not a leader. This is not a move of leadership, it sounds like a desperate attempt by a politician.

          2. Obama is the Antichrist

Does this constitute any type of crime such as harassment? I would be intrested in any type of class action law suit filed against Barry the Clown

          3. He’s a community organizer; what else do you expect? He divides to get his way. “Divide and conquer’, as they say. We can’t let him divide the Repubs. Once a candidate is picked, we all need to get 100% behind that candidate. We absolutely CANNOT stand another 4 years of this narcisstic, petulant dolt! ANYONE is better than what we have now. I’m not sure we can even stand another year of him. When he’s not on vacation or campaigning, he’s calling us names, telling lies and spending our money on unnecessary things.

      2. It seems that MSM is all atwitter over the GOP field of Candidates for CIC… Frankly I think that they are SCARED!
However see following which might have Obummer debate a Contender …..
In the coming New Year, 2012, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address will occur on the same day.

This is an ironic juxtaposition of events. One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to an insignificant
creature of little intelligence for prognostication.

        The other involves a groundhog.

and i bet that even with teleprompters and Axelrod feeding him what to say, Obummer will lose to the Groundhog!!!

        1. I think if I get one of the mugs I’ll just take a dump in it, and mark it “Return to Sender”. That way the Obama Administration can have a freash full cup of what it’s been feeding us for the past 2+ years.

          1. Speaking of the Anarchists of OWS… The Clean ups and Work disruption Costs should be paid by the OBOZO re-election Campaign and via the Pelosi Ill Begotten VISA profits… Don’t you think???

          1. This isn’t about the 1st Amendment, but about encouraging Democrats to take childish jabs at Republicans while providing Democrats with email address to send unsolicited — and therefore potentially illegal — emails.

          1. The same way they would be exempt from the ObamaCare legislation. Gotta wonder about “cooks” that won’t “eat their own cooking”…
The same way they can vote on and approve their own pay-raises. Imagine that in the private sector. I think I did a fantastic job this year, I failed miserably at my job responsibilities if I even bothered to show up for work. I deserve a 30% raise. Cost of living is a s.o.b.!

      1. Yea, it is the Turn in your friends and neighbors game. “WE Want You” Kind of like Hitler and the Jews. They want to know who you are, and if you are against us. They could send out “Botsd in the emails that are opened, and really snoop!

      2. Yea, it is the Turn in your friends and neighbors game. “WE Want You” Kind of like Hitler and the Jews. They want to know who you are, and if you are against us. They could send out “Bots in the emails that are opened, and really snoop!

      3. Excellent response! This man is using tax money to campaign by planning meetings in the same cities that he raises fundraisers. Corporate America has been using this same tax write method for years. What makes Barry such a moral guy when he is doing the same as the so called 1% ? Now they plan to use money government machines (paid for by us) to spam us with re-elect duffus propaganda? Yuck.

      1. They are going to steal the election too. Tyranny, corruption..just what this country was founded to get rid of. Thanks to all the morons who voted this garbage into office.

      1. Desperate enough to declare martial law over parts of the US to delay, or cancel the election. Remember the idiot idea of the Demoncrap governor of NC a couple of months ago, who opined that the elections should be postponed in order for the politicians to be able to do their important work without the stress and distraction of a campaign. Straight from the comrade Hussein WH playbook. You doubters might also ask why martial law signs have been trucked to Western parts of the US, and why the government is advertising for National Guard recruits to man detention camps via a 10 minute video. Too many new laws and regulations that are absolutely tracking those enacted by the Nazis when they came to power. But, no worry, we can trust our government, right?

    1. Not just Creepy…DUMB. As someone who is in business for myself and does his own marketing, I cannot tell you how stupid this is.

When you engage in mass marketing you do so to either keep your name out there (e.g. we are real big), the cost of this marketing is not to bring in new clients, its to ensure your current clients that you are big. The problem with the marketing is that its expensive and a total waste of time.

Obama is Big…He is the president. Those Republicans who get the e-mails they already know who Obama is. The E-mails will be deleted…those that aren’t will likely be ridiculed…which is negative.

Obama is not going to win Republican voters (unless Ron Paul is nominated…to which he will get some cross-overs). In fact looking at the electoral college, I don’t see how Obama can win period. Latest polling against Romney and Gingrich (who are currently beating each other up, thus driving their respective popularity down), shows him LOSING by 3 to 5 points, and worse barely cracking 45%.

      1. The DNC is counting on 5% to not vote due to their billion dollar smear campaign against whomever the Repubs put up against Dear Leader. If that happens, Dear Leader wins. America loses.

      2. If you don’t think Ron Paul is a viable candidate please go to his web site and read his position on the major issues, you will find that you agree with him more than you think. Ron Paul is one of the most intelligent and honest people in politics.

        1. Ron Paulsen is the greatest candidate since Pat Paulsen.

PT Barnum’s had a great assesment of the typical Paulsen supporter. WC Fields would be chorkeling in his scotch over you whackos.

          1. Buddy Rogers = Head in the sand… Keep supporting those bankers that care so much about you and your children’s future there, Buddy. Geeeeezzzzz – Try thinking before you spout the media’s talking points.

        2. Ron Paul has the same international policy as the Republicans of the 1930’s…its called being an isolationist. Its fair game. But its not a winner. Americans are not thrilled about war, but they sure as heck don’t want a leader who has (and this is not misquoting) concluded that 9-11 was based on our international actions. This is not dissimilar to the international views of Reverand Wright. While I respect Paul’s views, and in fact agree with some of what he states. His platform is not going to net him the votes necessary to win the election. Nominating Paul is like putting a square peg in a circle whole. The left won’t vote for him because he wants limited government. Those on the right or in the middle will be concerned that we would be electing Reverand Wright as our Commander in chief. Its a loser either way.

Frankly it looks like its Gingrich or Romney. I was and still am hoping Santorum could take off…or perhaps Perry wows us in the last debate. But truth be told it doesn’t look that way. Real shame that Tim Pawlenty dropped out…he would have ran away with this.

        3. Ron Paul is an a dodering fool…neither conservative nor libertarian. No matter what the question, he stammers around incoherently, eventually focusing on abolishing the Fed and returning to the gold standard. He’s like watching Admiral Stockdale babble on in previous VP debates…the guy isn’t even lucid half the time. That said,he’d STILL BE A FAR BETTER PRESIDENT THAN THE MARXIST IN OFFICE!

      3. It’s not intended to win republican voters – it is intended as a mechanism to convince otherwise timid democrat donors who have a mean streak that this is one more ‘benefit’ they receive from their donation.
        It’s all about the money.

      4. The point is NOT to send emails to Republicans.

It’s to get the email addresses of Republicans for later use — and I don’t mean emails, I mean targeting.

      5. Compiling a list of republican emails is not so they can convince republicans to vote for Obama. Its so they can tamper in the republican primary by sending emails promoting the republican they think they can beat, or simply dividing the republicans further, or suppression. And since there is no democrat primary, many states that don’t have party registration will see democrats voting in the republican primaries to queer the vote. The statists of the Obama camp believe that they know better than all of you, and that self-mandate empowers them to win at any cost, so they can control your lives in their ‘enlightened’ way.

    2. It’s a weak approach without getting any approval or avoid accusation of accessing private citizens information without consent. What do you do when you receive an e-mail that states if you delete this or do not respond we have the reserve the right to contact you in other ways? Do not trust a group that always has to go through the backdoor to get their business done

    3. Yes, but the problem is you’ll get an email that will look like it’s coming from a Republican or independent group and it will contain information intended to damage a Republican candidate to skew you to another Republican candidate which Obama thinks he has a better chance of beating.

    4. I use hotmail. With one click you can notify MS that a friend has been hacked on any email. If I get such an email, I plan to mark it as being from a hacker. :)

    5. If you don’t want the e-mails you can alway put the domain name in your blocked senders list and it will bounce back to the sender unopened. I assume the libs don’t realize that.

    6. yeah, but do you really want the DNC to have your email, with the asterisk “gop” next to it? i can’t even imagine what they might do with that info

      1. Let’s turn the tables on them. Let’s send the e-mail addresses of all the Dems we know and flood their database with useless information. They won’t be able to distinguish between R or D!

      1. Typical liberal. Too stupid to understand sarcasm, and too indoctrinated to see any problem with 0’s latest effort to turn in your neighbors.

        Spay and neuter liberals

      2. Sorry bud…. LIBERALS are the biggest victims in the world… that’s why they need “fairness” doctrine, “affirmative action”, and “Redistribution”…. they cannot stand on their own, blame everyone around them for their shortcomings, and demand (not earn) some form of advantage over another, all in the name of “victimization”. Cry me a river, liberal. Cry me a river.

        1. Democrats are well know for their name calling and mudslinging when they cannot defend their argument, Lizzy. Just ignore it, look above it.

    1. Who does this guy think he is? He successfully removes all remaining dignity from the Office of the President. He accuses _us_ of being divisive… Anyone who isn’t one of his minions knows beyond doubt he’s perhaps the most divisive figure ever in the history of this nation.

    1. What about his wifey? She was the one who went to Chicago for a fund-raiser this fall & one of the “offerings” was a pic. of her-signed, no less, with you & your family-limit 6- for only the bargain-baement price of $10,000!

Do these people EVER stay home?

          1. I love the fact that instead of trying to help those who have clearly been harmed by the education system, you just point the blame at the liberals from your “high-horse” like you are any better.

Quit bitching and do something if you don’t like it. Get off your overweight, over privileged, pompous arse and DO something.

It is ridiculous listening to entitled morons slam the left when we are ALL at fault.

          2. Yeah, we’re ALL at fault. Especially all those conservative republican teachers and conservative republican administrators and conservative republican union leaders.

            Moron.

        1. I think that alleged misspelling was intentional. Sediment — the gunk that sinks to the bottom of a cesspool. Brilliant allusion when speaking about our current leaders.

        2. Appears that autocorrect is at fault here. However, you are correct that our education system is far from effective. Makes you wonder how liberals escape criticism. It is their policies, leadership and agenda that has been guiding schools from kindergarten to university level for decades.

As far as this fascist attempt at collecting “enemies” (Obama’s description of opposing party members) email addresses, I find it another attempt at intimidation in line with the Attachwatch website and Hoffa’s “take the son’s a bitches” speech. I find the acceptance of this type of behavior further evidence of the left’s inability to agree to disagree.

          1. The teachers Union has been bought using tax payers dollars. This president paid the Union for supporting him. Much like any company that donates enough money to him is exempted for the illegal and immoral “Obamacare”

        3. Really dude?? Grow up. Ever heard of typos? I’m sick and tired of libs like you looking for any excuse to denigrate someone with a thoughtful opinion. You have no substance so you go for the typo insult. hmmm… commentary on YOUR education? Go back to skool an lern ta thinc u lib-tard!

Oh, sory. My spelin mus be a bit off.

        4. Hear, hear! I am in complete agreement! I am glad that my teacher’s pet, Johnny, is spending his day correcting everyone’s spelling and grammar. Johnny, you make me so proud. (By the way, the use of a second question mark is improper, but I won’t mark off points for you, Johnny.)

        5. Almost as illiterate as the subject in the article!
Normal procedures for this administration – cannot stand on any accomplishments so hide behind trickery and/or someone else!
Just when it appears as if B.O. has hit as low as he can, he surprises everyone and stoops even lower.
          Most pathetic administration ever.

        6. Actually it’s sedimentary, Dear Watson. And furthurmore I’m sedimentarily today, not goig out at all. And that’s because I’m a lazimentarilaholic. I entind to stey that wey, to.

  2. I’ll go you one better! The White House Fax number is 202-456-2461 …
FAX the lawyer-in-chief and let him know what you think of his job performance!

  3. This is absolutely beyond the pale. My vote will never be influenced by Obama other than to vote against him. Sounds like David Axelrod and Plouffe are at their same old dirty tricks.

  4. The “friend” would be a “friend” no more and would probably be subjected to a pretty beating for sharing my contact information without my permission!!

    1. How do you find that funny? Seems as though your low class, anti-Semitism has reached another low. Grow up and take note that you are responding regarding a completely different matter here. Democrats/ Obama email list.
Perhaps you should direct your bs in the appropriate place, perhaps he

      1. Krysta, dear, simply referring to a period of history during which anti-semitism was displayed does not make one anti-semitic. If you refer to the period in U.S. history during which slavery was legal, does that make you a slave owner, or a supporter of slavery? Logic, please.

The point that GRAM was making (and that you clearly missed) is that NAZI Germany also used tactics to gather intel on the location and contact information of Jews, in order to compile a list and make it easier to hunt them all down. There were even ‘rewrds’ for turning in intel to the authorities pertaining to the whereabouts or other ‘useful’ informattion concerning Jews, both before it became ugly and then after. It is simply somthing to consider, as history does repeat itself, dear.

Now this little circus performance in and of itself is nothing too crazy, but perhaps it would do some good for your perception of reality if you spent a little time researching just how much data-mining the feds are doing and what they’re looking for. I’ll give you a good starting point : check out the ‘signs of a possible domestic terrorist’ posted by Homeland Security.

  5. F*^^% YOU Obama! your treasonous run in OUR white house is OVER!
take your traitorous A** back to Kenya- you new world order clintonite bill of right killing scumbag

  6. What a complete douchebag Obama is.

If Newt gets the nomination, Obama will get creamed in every debate. If he can hand Mitt his own head in a all-Republican debate, he’ll destroy him in a Democrat vs. Republican one.

    1. Baldy Kirby from Atlanta

Actually, you just came up with a great idea:

Everyone needs to mail a douchebag to Obama and Debbie Wasserman Shultz….

Everyone is flattered by a self-portrait, so I now they’ll love the gifts!

  7. Oh I just LOVE this idea~! I have a couple of “Flaming Liberals” on my email list & as soon as I get a B.O. email, I’ll sign them u for the G.O.P. After all, isn’t “turn-about” fair play?
(NOT a registered Democrat OR Republican)

    1. Vicky, (and all not registered R)

You all need to register R so you can vote in the primary. Most Ron Paul supporters are not registered R and can’t vote in the primary! What good is that? We have a two party system and primaries are just and important as the general. Thanks.

      1. Depends on the state, in my state you don’t have to register as being anything, you just request either the Dem or Repub ballot for the primary, and that’s all you can then vote for.

    2. I was thinking you return the favor and send their email to Sarah Palins PAC as well as Bachmans. The dems would love to receive emails from their two favorite conservatives.

  8. I look forward to getting one of those emails. I will get their domain blacklisted. And I’ll do it again and again and again. Hell, I may make a hobby of it.

  9. If Republicans begin receiving such childish drivel, the solution might be for all of them to e-mail the White House site with their opinion of Soetoro-Obama. A flood of mail to that site and to the DNC might be the perfect antidote.

    1. vote for gingrich? why bother? no difference between him and obama other than physical appearance. but alas, i try to awaken those that are suffering acute and permanent cerebral degradation.

      1. Perhaps you should start with yourself. No comment is as ignorant and misinformed as stating “no difference between him and obama”.

We wouldn’t have Obamacare if anyone other than Obama was elected.

All the GOP candidates right now want to overturn Obamacare.

The GOP candidates want to drill and utilize our energy resources, Obama does not. The GOP candidates want to build more nuclear plants to provide cheaper energy, Obama does not.

The list of differences is endless.

        1. He’s right you know. look at Newty’s record:
          – pro ethanol mandates
          – pro green garbage
          – pro global warming
          – pro cap and trade
          – pro amnesty
          – took fannie mae money.
          – cheated on his dying wife..

He’s bill clinton and obama rolled into one.

          1. No, he didn’t cheat on his dying wife. Do you actually know the facts concerning that time. One of his children set the record straight about that and I would believe his child before some propaganda from an opponent. Check it out.

          2. Gingrich’s position on illegals is much more nuanced than you’re saying, he’s not pro cap and trade, and his wife wasn’t dying. He’s also vastly different from Obama about tax. Policy, economic policy and foreign affairs. All of which you’d know if you followed the debates rather than the Ron Paul – Michele Bachmann talking points.

  10. I received an email from barackobama.com suggesting I give to the campaign and then provoke my conservative friends by telling them I gave it in their honor. Talk about goading people into anger. Does he want to deepen the division between the parties and ensure we have the same conflict in our social lives? #confusedformersupporter

    1. “Does he want to deepen the division between the parties and ensure we have the same conflict in our social lives?”

Exactly. This Marxist creep in the WhiteHouse is hoping for all out civil war.
      And he may get it.

      1. Actually, not if it is unsolicited. They can’t ask people to add your e-mail address without your consent. You have to sign up yourself. It’s illegal.

  11. What a good way to p*ss off your friends. Wait! If someone added my email to his list, then they wouldn’t be a friend at all. Come to think of it, that might be a good way to determine who to cross off your Christmas list.

  12. The man loves his tyranny. Yet the LATEST example.

Funny how this metrosexual doesn’t view republicans as americans he has sworn to protect, and called them his enemy on more than one occassion.

  13. Obama, our Dear Leader, has created an entirely new email marketing mechanism… not Permission Marketing, but Against My Permission Marketing, bound to enthrall, enrage and embitter all who are subjected to his & Debbie Wassername’s distortions and pleas for Other People’s Money to Redistribute or use in 2012 to run from his record, not on it. Despicable!

  14. After this is all over, and President Gingrich is in office, we have GOT to prosecute Booga-Booga and his unAmerican monkey wife for HIGH TREASON against the United States during war time. These “people” are absolute filth.

    1. Don’t insult monkeys. They are evolved creatures.

It would be more accurate (and less open to a charge of racism) to describe MoochMORE Michelle Antoinette Obama as a grabber, a werk-the-perker, an attention hound, a pathetic example of Ivy League “education,” and a perimenopausal woman who is desperate to be considered attractive.

      1. You’ve done it again with a truly accurate description of the FLOTUS.
Her majesty is definitely a six pack of beer and a few shots of tequila handsome.

  15. Remember the ATTACK WATCH or some such marxist turn in your neighbor site the WH put up? Gone now.

Now this, more of what a man with nothing to run on does. Sounds so much the Soviet Union turning neighbors on neighbors.

  16. Sniff-sniff…………is that desperation I smell?? Go ahead, make my spam folder angry! This will only backfire by making independents angry by spamming them.

  17. I’ve been getting e-mails from the presidents campaign for years. The motivation for doing so goes back to my days in the military, and the training I received to “know your enemy”.

  18. Go ahead, Mr. President, drop me an email. I’ll be glad to reply, although I guarantee you won’t like my response. Do you really think that there are that many Republicans sitting on the fence in this election? While we all have our favorite candidate, the clear majority of voters will vote for “ABO”: Anybody But Obama.

  19. They already have mine. I sent a helpful message to the prez advising him how to improve. Now I get hilarious emails from him, his wife, his election campaign and others. As usual, he was not listening.

They usually tell me what the Republicans in Congress are doing wrong and they always want money. $3 to eat dinner with Barry and Michelle? Heck, yes! I will enjoy that dinner more than they will.

  20. ” I recommend the birther mugs”

Damn that Hillary Clinton for starting the rumor that Obama was not a Natural Born US citizen (not born physically in the USA). I guess it die not help that Obama withheld his birth certificate for 2 years and that it had suspicous cut and paste edits to it.

  21. This from the PRESIDENT Of The United States. hmmm, appears rather childish, something a teenager would come up with to get even for some perceived slight. He really is a Man-Child. So glad I didn’t vote for him the first time, & praying he is voted out the second time.

  22. Isn’t there a 2003 federal law against Spam? It’s known as CAN-SPAM act, or properly named: “Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing Act of 2003.”

  23. Wow! If this was a company there would be a lot of heads rolling. I do email marketing and to receive our emails you must “double opt in”. Does the “Can Spam” act not apply here because this is political? Either way this doesn’t pass the smell test.

    1. It’s certainly in a very gray legal area. It’s one thing to get names off of voter rolls. It’s quite another to ask people to sign up others without their consent. Yes, people send e-cards to each other through on-line services so I suspect that would be the argument here. However, intent is commonly invoked in the interpretation of the law and the intent here is spelled out quite clearly: “[H]ave a little fun at the expense of a Republican in your life…”

They’re basically advocating harassment by signing up people to receive something they didn’t consent to. Orwellian concerns aside, this form of incitement by the administration is beyond the pale.
