As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Do We Have Two Secretaries of State?

Having shed responsibility for promoting the unpromotable stimulus act, Vice President Biden is now making himself secretary of state.

Of course, we already have a secretary of state, but if you’ve failed to notice based on the lack of improvement in the U.S. position in the world vis-a-vis OTHER COUNTRIES, you can be forgiven.

Biden has long been the “point man” for Obama’s retreat strategy in Afghanistan and Iraq, but the former Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman seems to be expanding his portfolio.

In the past couple of months, Biden traveled to Greece, Turkey, and Iraq, held an important call with President Saakashvili of Georgia, met with a Kurdish leader, spoke by video to the London Conference on Cyberspace, led a presidential delegation to Saudi Arabia, participated in hosting the South Korean President, met with the prime minister of Montenegro, and held a session with the deputy prime minister of Russia.

Biden and Hillary Clinton
"He's mine!" "No, he's mine!

I’m glad to know the vice president is finally having some fun instead of having to run out to the hinterland of the U.S. and declare how happy he is about improvements in the highway connecting Dayton to Cincinnati. But how, exactly, is this new system working?

Do Biden and Hillary Clinton carefully coordinate their actions? Have they sat down to work our some grand strategy for handling the world? Are their staffs on the same page? How is she able to conduct Obama’s foreign policy when Biden has constant access to the president and seems to have the power to make his own?

My guess is that, with Clinton seemingly tired of the job and looking to wrap it up, Biden pretty much does what he wants and then lets her know about it. We have an ad hoc foreign policy. Not that Clinton was known as a strategist to begin with.

It’s just so great that Biden has put himself in charge of diplomacy. He’s always so careful and measured in what he says.

If Obama is reelected, look for Biden to seize the portfolio from whomever they make secretary of state and completely dominate foreign policy.

And just maybe, watch him resign the vice presidency to actually BE secretary of state, and let Obama anoint a true successor as VP.

  1. Hillary looks whipped… I am not too comfy with the Joe-ster swanning around making policy, little deals, and leaving promises etc behind. Is anyone figuring this out? Does it matter? I don’t even know anymore. We don’t even have delusions of adequacy anymore.

  2. Are we ready for an “Obama/Obama” ticket? MrsO has formed a campaign committee/ with staff supposedly for her upcoming efforts to campaign for her husband’s re-election.

  3. Coordinated policy? This administration can’t coordinate day-to-day activities. Plus, it’s kind of hard to have a coherent foreign policy when the guy at the top feels the need to apologize for his country at every opportunity.

  4. Having Biden there just about says enough…and Hillary has always been an overrated -itch. that we’re in trouble is a BIG understatement.

  5. I have been kinda curious why SecState Hillary has gone “missing” lately…(I figured it was Hillary’s Botox updates)

Yet over the past few weeks VP Biden has been barely mentioned; but for his times on his overseas trips (given the fact Biden is clue-less, blow-hard)
I am still curious why we have not seen Obama or Biden “together” lately…?
What is VP Biden’s “daily schedule”?

BTW; I dare anyone to mention who is Obama’s “National Security Advisor” or “Director of National Intelligence”? I understand they stuck Paetreus as “CIA Director”, but being a ‘national security/intelligence’ student I am VERY worried about the Obama’s admin. lack of knowledge-intrest in “National Security-Intelligence”

You won’t like the answer any better than I do.
Six years later, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is due to host OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Washington, DC in mid-December 2011 to discuss how the United States can implement the OIC agenda to criminalize criticism of Islam. Cloaked in the sanctimonious language of “Resolution 16/18 ,” that was adopted by the UN Human Rights Council in April 2011

  7. The only reason Obama appointed Hillary was to get her as far away from Washington as possible! Obama needs to keep his enemies close to his vest! He wanted her for VP but MOOSHELLE had a hissy fit!

Biden the Buffoon is campaigning for military votes…pure and simple. I am shocked that Obama would keep him on after all of his huge gaffes but he is the ONLY one who actually makes Obama look smart! He grovels at Obama’s feet just as Jill Biden does with the angry Black woman!

Everyone in Obama’s cabinet is interchangeable because it’s all about Obama! Obama refuses to allow anyone to share the stage with him – it’s bizarre!

The first thing I noticed about Obama 3 years ago was that he ALWAYS appears solo no matter what the occasion, including the Grant Park production with the styrafoam columns. When Obama gave the acceptance speech, he stood there all alone!!!! The family was allowed to make a token appearance for a minute or two, but then they all left the stage so that Obama could bask in the spotlight!

Hillary is being phased out now….just in time for the New Year and the election. Obama needs to take credit for everything that Hillary has accomplished (whatever that may be) and it’s time to make her vanish into thin air! It’s going to be OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA…mmm….mmm!

Looking forward to a tell-all book from Hillary and Panetta!

    • At least Biden is CHARGING the US Secret Service ‘rent’ ($50,000+) on the gate-house that the US Secret Service is using to protect the Biden mansion in Delaware…

  8. The posts here are really “Dialed-In.”
World leaders are no doubt picking up the same clues that all is not of one mind at 1600 Penn and at State. Canada’s Harper is a good example. Hillary at State gives Keystone XL the greenlight but Obama delays his decision until after Nov 2012. Now Harper has hinting he will sell oil to China. No coherence in the executive!
