Report: Cain to Endorse Gingrich

The Atlanta TV station that broke the story about Herman Cain’s alleged 13-year affair with Ginger White is now reporting that Cain will endorse Newt Gingrich. From the report:

Sources tell FOX 5 News that Herman Cain plans to endorse fellow Georgian Newt Gingrich on Monday. They say details of a formal announcement are still being worked out.

A spokesperson with the Gingrich campaign said there is a 2 p.m. press conference in New York, which would follow a meeting with Donald Trump.

  1. I, for one, am concerned about all the momentum Gingrich is getting. I don’t happen to think he can beat Obama…..too much baggage that Obama can dig in to if Gingrich is the candidate. I’m not a Romney fan either but I would vote for Romney. This is such a tough year for us Independents to find someone who represents us well.

The Donald was on Fox early this morning saying he will reconsider his bid once the Apprentice is off the air in May. He was directly asked by Doocy if entering on an independent ticket wouldn’t further insure Obama’s victory (as often the third party candidate does that), but of course The Donald felt he’d not have that same cause and effect. I think the Donald needs to stay on TV, not politics!

    1. I agree. Newt’s just another Washington retread. We had to support John McCain in 2008 and he had a fairly clean past. That didn’t work out well. No doubt Romney could at least run as the anti-establishment candidate. I just can’t believe we’re going to screw this up, but I think we might.

  2. One report I saw was Newt failed to meet the deadline to get on the Missouri ballot. Makes one wonder about the people who surrounds him Does he have a “Karl Rove type” to help him map things out?

  3. That’s nice of Herman. I can’t get my head around calling anybody “Newt”…
A newt is an aquatic amphibian of the family Salamandridae, although not all aquatic salamanders are considered newts.
He should have stuck with his given name, Newton.

  5. How ironic and interesting! You have one man who repeatedly cheated on his wife endorsing another man who has done the same and gotten divorced twice because of the behavior!

  6. At the moment everything looks good for Newt Gingrich. To get the Cain endorsement must be helpful. The Republicans need a tough warrior with wit and stamina to fight the little poseur and his shrewd and cunning helpers. Could Gingrich be the one ?

  7. Herman Cain lost my support when he admitted giving money to a woman friend without telling his wife of the 13-year friendship or the financial help. That was a betrayal of trust. Who he puts his support behind is of no consequence to me at this point.

    1. Agreed, Susan. I think Cain very much wants to be “relevant”. He is not and, IMO, neither is Newt. Was once impossible to believe but I am starting to think GOP is going to blow this election.

    2. Susan, I don´t trust Cain either but in the eyes of many he is the black Republican and the symbolism of his support may perhaps be helpful to Gingrich.
