President Obama unincorporated Great Britain Tuesday, regretting the Iranian seizure of the English embassy in Tehran.
No, I’m not making a big deal of this. It just occurs to me that if Bush seemed to think England had its own foreign policy, you’d be able to hear the guffawing all the way over to the Scottish Embassy in Prussia.
This come just days after Obama referred to himself as the Commander AND Chief. I don’t think even Bush would have been capable of that one.
H/T to Weasel Zippers, where I saw this, and The Foundry, which first ran it.
UPDATE: William makes a great point below, which I wanted to bring up into this piece. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? Why is he not condemning an attack on the territorial integrity of Great Britain? “Deeply disturbed?”
I mean, I realize he’s not going to put any passion into the statement, which is characteristically flat. But he needs to send the Iranians a message that we’re mad as Hell.
He says this is “an indication that the Iranian government is not taking its international obligations seriously.” Really? At what point in the last 30 years did the Iranian government take its international obligations seriously?
Maybe they’ll start when Obama begins taking his international obligations seriously.

OK…I’ve been holding out for soooo long…Obama is an idiot, moron clueless baffoon, brainless comunity organizer…..57 states…Marine Corps and now Commander AND Chief!!! Sorry I just had to get that off my chest! November 2012…where are you??!!! Can’t get here soon enough!! This guy is a total looser and is killing our nation!
I think that this is just another example of his anti-colonialism. He desperately hates anything British (remember the removal of Churchills bust from the WH?). His idialogy is so engrained and flows so deep that I wonder if he even knows what he is saying sometimes.
Now, on a glance, this could be chaulked up to slips such as 57 states, Marine corpsman, etc, but really it is a geneal disdain for anything that is a example of American exceptionalism.
Thanks for reminding everyone of the Churchill rejection. Looking back
that was a sign of things to come. Our best friend and always stands with us that was when he threw them under the bus we just didn’t grasp
what he was up to sadly.
He regrets? I regret every minute he and his wife occupy the people’s house!
looking back, Obama flubbing the oath of office on inauguration day was a sign of things to come.
we don’t see any outrage because Obama isn’t particularly outraged. the British or English (he also later referred to the “Embassy of the United Kingdom”) or whatever you want to call them are just a bunch of white colonialist oppressors, so who cares.
the Churchill bust was just one example. remember the present he gave the Queen? an iPod pre-populated with his own speeches.
and then there was the gift to–I’m 99.9% sure Gordon Brown but maybe Tony Blair–which was a DVD box set of the 150 greatest American movies…the DVDs produced for the USA zone, not playable in the “English” zone.
there are many liberal Democrats who are very smart. they must be having some major cognitive dissonance trying to keep believing that Obama is the genius president. I wonder how they do it.
Leave the guy alone, he’s been sleeping and playing a lot of golf lately, trying to avoid exercising any leadership on any major issue of the day. It takes a lot of effort to avoid doing anything about Pakistan, the collapse of the Eurozone, the looming debt crisis, etc. I think he deserves another vacation instead of attacks like this. Besides, under communism, this kind of difference in nations wouldn’t exist anyways.
Excellent points, CT.
More like the Usurper & Thief..
I watched Obamas weak respons to the storming of the embassy and thought: what will the Iranians think about this ? Well, they will be once again convinced that Obama has transformed US into a toothless lion.
Obama “strongly urge” that the participants in the storming will be held responsible by the Iranians. So utterly unrealistic, just watch that big, screaming, anonymous crowd. Also, the Iranians probably think this is a great triumph. Obama finally says that he expects to see some result ( ?) but I didn´t hear “or else”. But then again, what on earth can he say . The result of Obamas “reach out to the Muslims” foreign policy is starting to show…
Beyond the failure to understand the difference between England and the UK, what’s with this “regret” and where’s the condemnation? Why does he express a feeling of remorse or sorrow rather than anger?
re·gret, -gret·ted, -gret·ting,
verb (used with object)
1. to feel sorrow or remorse for (an act, fault, disappointment, etc.): He no sooner spoke than he regretted it.
2. to think of with a sense of loss: to regret one’s vanished youth.
noun
3. a sense of loss, disappointment, dissatisfaction, etc.
4. a feeling of sorrow or remorse for a fault, act, loss, disappointment, etc.
5. regrets, a polite, usually formal refusal of an invitation: I sent her my regrets.
6. a note expressing regret at one’s inability to accept an invitation: I have had four acceptances and one regret.
Iranian “students” storm the US Embassy on 4 November 1979, and took hostages until 20 January 1981. Thirty-two years later Iranian “students” storm the UK Embassy.
Obama’s poll numbers have now dipped below Carter’s approval level in 1979.
In 1979 the US economy was a disaster: high unemployment, fear of a depression, high gas prices, a feeling of malaise starting to grip the country, and on 15 July 1979 Jimmy Carter delivered his infamous “Crisis of Confidence” or as it has become know his “Malaise” speech (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/primary-resources/carter-crisis/).
Thirty-two years ago I was a college student looking forward to a future that was as bright as that of the previous generation. Now, as a middle-aged man with health problems and years of loyal service to his country and community I cannot help but wonder how we have lost, in three short years, the “American Dream.” We are being told that the condition we are in now is the new norm. We are being told now that the only solution is a total re-making of America, a re-making into something that the Founders would never have dreamed of. We have a President and Congress (both sides of the aisle) that cannot and will not build a consensuses as to how to fix the problems we face as a country.
We have protracted wars and kinetic military actions going on throughout the Middle-East, south central Asia and northern Africa. We have the threat of a new Soviet style Russia looming on the horizon. China is bankrolling our debt, leaving us to the mercy of its rulers. We have the threat coming out of Iran with its nuclear program, and the rising threat of more radical Islamic regimes throughout the world.
In the streets of our own country radical leftists are camping out in cities, trying to shut down the wheels of commerce, and looking to instigate altercations with the police.
Academia and the social elite rule our country, and use every “crisis” to further enhance their standing. We have a federal government that knows no bounds as to its legal authority, and chooses to ignore its own laws.
Is there a “Crisis of Confidence” in the United States? The only “Crisis of Confidence” the American people have is in our own government. Many, dare I say, most, Americans still believe in this nation as one of opportunity and greatness. The only way to restore that greatness is by remembering who we are as a people and a nation. And then work tirelessly to elect men and women who also remember the greatness that is America.
Obama is Jimmy Carter 2.0. Hopefully there is a Reagan 2.0 out there somewhere.
Excellent post!
Thanks Shofar. We do need remarkable leadership now. I’m not sure I see anything on the horizon.
I don’t see a leader either, but I am praying for one and praying for that “love of country” leadership ASAP.
It will take a strong new President two terms to undo the damage this
idiot has done in less than four.
Outstanding Post.
Thank you.
Leaders can get carried away–how about a solid administrator?
Thank you for your excellent post, Shofar!
Regarding China’s bankrolling us, in the Bible, massive interest payments was called “paying tribute”. Obama is in a hurry to destroy this country any way he can. Actions speak louder than words.
Why isn’t he outraged? He doesn’t mind radical islam acting like barbarians. He sure seems to like it.
Must not have had his trusty TOTUS with him. The guy is a blithering idiot when he’s left to fend for himself. That was one minute of tortured word butchering interspersed with a generous supply of uhhhs and ahhhs.
More proof that the Iranians are stupid, suicidal morons.
As for our Prez, he’s a sloppy and unprepared speaker when he doesn’t have a teleprompter. Ol’Newt would chop him up in pieces at a debate.
Insulting the Brits is in his DNA.
What an embarrassment to the US.
Israel, Judah, Britain And America

They speak British in the English embassy, so he’s correct.
Funny–like that one.
Do they speak Welsh in the Welch’s Embassy?
Fore!
OT–but speaking of “storming,” just heard Ron Kessler on Fox say they are building a huge bunker under the White House able to withstand even a nuclear attack–they are saying it’s utility lines–has anyone asked Jay bout this? Are we going to have to pull him out of there after the election?
Are you saying the he is building an indoor golf course? Sand bunkers and all?
Hmmm. I was thinking Dr Strangelove bunkers–but maybe…
A five star restaurant for Michelle so she won’t have to mingle
with the ‘folks’.
A lobster farm. They’re just being practical.
Obama ‘ HATES’ = Winston Churchill.
FACT = why was the bust of Winston Churchill ‘sent away’ in the Obama “White House”…?
It was sent away because of his anti-colonialism hatred for anything British. It was reported that the moment he walked down the hallway and noticed the Churchill bust, he told a staffer to send it back, then, not tomorrow, now. This all goes back to Kenya and his fathers rage. He not only has “Dreams of My Father”, but he is living the dreams of his father. Barry Jr is a anti-colonialist and again, hates anything from the Brits or what has made America exceptional.
what a dufus
Star….funny you should mention the bunker building under the WH! A few months ago I tuned into a radio program and I thought I was listening to a science-fiction show. The guest (can’t remember his name) claimed to be a veteran terrorist expert. He went into great detail about the fact that he was in charge of a secret project at the WH – building a nuclear bomb shelter! He went to to say that almost every member of the Senate was also using his services to build bunkers on their own personal property! I was stunned, to say the least – since we haven’t done this sort of thing since the 50’s!
Is there something the govt. isn’t telling us???
He’s just happy they didn’t storm the American Embassy in Iran and is trying to not provoke them into doing so.
Yes, I know we don’t have an embassy there, but does he?
I WANT MY DREAM BACK. I AM TIRED LIVING THIS NIGHTMARE!
