In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Quote of the Day

“I worked the weekend, so I get to take Monday and Tuesday off. It’s in my contract.”

  1. “If the NBA owners cannot reach an agreeable contract with the players union, I will push Congress to pass the ‘NBA Players Job Act.’ This will provide hoop ready jobs for hundreds of professional athletes, and ensure that janitors, beer and hot dog vendors (you know the middle class) will be able to return to work as soon as possible. If the Republicans in Congress refuse to act, I will, through Executive Order, seize control of the NBA and turn the teams over their rightful owners, the players.”

  2. It is President Obama who is lazy, not the American People as he likes to say. On July 30, 2009 President Obama attempted to mediate a dispute between his friend and a police officer by bringing them to the White House for a beer. Well where is he when his basketball playing buddies in the NBA need him? Where is he when the American people would like to sit in front of their TV’s with a beer in one hand and the remote control in the other watching their favorite NBA Teams? Obama is absent. He is schmoozing with the G-20 in Cannes or with the Asia Pacific leaders in Hawaii where he said “I want to emphasize that the Asia-Pacific region is absolutely critical to America’s economic growth. We consider it a top priority,”. Hey Mr. President, what about putting the American Basketball Players back to work? Isn’t that a Top Priority? What about putting the stadium workers, vendors, ticket takers, and janitors back to work? Isn’t that a Top Priority? What about filling American basketball fans refrigerators and kitchen cabinets with beer, pretzels, chips and hot dogs while they watch basketball on their TV’s? Isn’t that a top priority?

On August 9, 2011 when you wanted to play some Basketball you didn’t hesitate to call LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Bill Russell and Magic Johnson to join you on the court. I know you like Basketball. You keep inviting teams like UConn and Texas A & M to visit you at the White House. You even found time to play Basketball at Martha’s Vineyard. You like to watch Basketball so much that you had a Basketball Court built on the deck of the USS Carl Vincent just last week so you could watch a game with the troops. In fact a Google search of Obama Basketball White House resulted in 30,800,000 hits. But why does it always have to be about you, Mr. President? There are Millions of American Basketball Fans that need your help now. So Please Mr. President, no matter where in the World you are and no matter what you are doing, please come back and settle the NBA strike. We have already endured 137 days without basketball. It is now two years and 4 months since your one and only Beer Summit. Surely you can do one more for the American Basketball fans. Please don’t make us suffer any longer. Don’t be lazy.
