In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Using “Jobs” Plan to Pay for Campaigning

This is really so annoying. Obama is campaigning on your dime again.

Ostensibly, he’s headed out into the hinterland to “discuss¬†the bipartisan proposals to grow the economy and create jobs as part of the American Jobs Act he unveiled in an address to a joint session of Congress on Thursday,” as the White House puts it.

But really he’s using this new “jobs” bill as an excuse to campaign in key swing states. Since the travel is billed as “official business,” taxpayers pick up the tab. So all expenses get added to the national debt.

The SOJA – or the Save Obama’s Job Act, aka The American Jobs Act – now serves two main purposes: to put Republicans on the spot to support the bill or risk being stigmatized by Obama as job killers; and to help the president reach voters. It’s effect on the economy will be marginal at best.

Today, Obama appeared in Virginia, flying to Richmond, the “Dixie” part of the state where he needs votes to add to the majorities he’ll likely get in Northern Virginia, which is demographically part of the Northeast.

On Tuesday he’s off to Columbus, Ohio, supposedly again to urge congressional action on his proposals.

And, the White House just announced, he’ll be in the Raleigh-Durham area Wednesday,

Virginia + Ohio + North Carolina = 46 electoral votes Obama desperately needs in states where the presidential hand to hand combat will be brutal.

  1. MrO is playing a dead hand. If Congress does pass his mini-stimulus act, nothing much will change by Nov2012. If they don’t pass the act, they’ll accuse the Prez of being a tax and spend union stooge.
    He should just fold.

  2. Let me guess…all university visits? Young people are not mature enough to recognize his deception. They are one of the few captive, adoring audiences he has left.

There ain’t no accusin’ about it srdem… Obama is a tax and spend union stooge.

  3. I’m listening to him right now on Fox. He seems over-the-top angry. Is that what people want to see in a president?

I’ve watched videos of Chavez and even he doesn’t seem like the angry, demented man that Obama has become.

He just seems desperate and Michelle looks miserable except today at the tennis open where she just seemed looped. What a couple.

    1. This is the thug Obama the union was asking for. He’s calling on his people to rain down on the House Republicans to bully them into giving him another stimulus. He needs Congress to give him more taxpayer money so he can give it to his union buddies so they can fund his re-election campaign. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

    1. Totally agree. That he’s campaigning on our dime … he really wants to remain president. I’m guessing Michelle really likes the perks.
He MUST know he sucks at the job. Why else would he want to continue on?

    1. $52,000 a year to attend.. great place to start his *jobs* campaign. Should get him a few thousand in campaign funds
Where’s Maxine Waters when we need her? LOL

  4. And this surprises who exactly? This administration has been “gaming” America long before they reached the White House. They just do it on a grander scale now.

  6. He used Air Force One to get from D.C. (had to go out to Andrews AFB) to get to Richmond, and back, on this day.

It’s 107 statute miles between the cities…. and Obama flew it in Air Force One! What a misuse of the airplane, not to mention the taxpayer’s money. This is from a guy ostensibly concerned about the environment, and who says there shouldn’t be tax breaks for jet owners.

  7. Why are my taxes being used to pay for Obama’s campaigning when I did not vote for him and — as a matter of fact — would not even consider him for the lowest clerical position? Years ago when I applied for a clerks’s job with the government I had to produce a birth certificate and give the names of two neighbors who would vouch for me. Then I had to be finger-printed. Now we have a man in the White house who will not submit any of his records — school, etc. — to the public. Wake up America
