In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR
They may as well add Kotosoupa, and Baklava for dessert. If we are going to be Greece, then we should go all the way and just serve Greek cuisine.
My fear is that we are heading to be more like Ireland in the 1840s and 50’s. We are headed for an American “An Gorta Mór” all the while the political elite dine on lobster bisque, filet mignon, and sip nouveau beaujolais.
The debt ceiling and other machinations of the right and left simply show how far this country has drifted from exceptionalism to expectionalism.

I think it would be more appropriate to serve Chinese food: perhaps Pressed Duck with an American flag in its bill.
