As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

President Obama and congressional leaders agreed to strive for a blockbuster deficit-reduction deal and will begin gauging support for a plan to curb entitlements and make tax-code changes.

House Speaker Boehner is open to President Obama’s far-reaching plans to reduce the debt, but other Republicans are not so sure. The political left is steaming amid reports Obama is offering changes to Social Security and Medicare as part of a grand compromise.

POLITICO describes five reasons a debt deal may happen.

Treasury Secretary Geithner told top lawmakers at a White House meeting that failing to raise the debt ceiling soon would have calamitous economic consequences.

  1. “Gun control measures”? Bring it on Mr. Obama.

Clinton’s Assault Gun Ban was sun-setted during the Bush presidency; we successfully fought the 2nd Amendment up TO the Supreme Court who sided in our favor (I believe it was 5-4) and the NRA is now stronger than EVER, in its 94-year history. And there are now more firearms in the U.S. than ever before.

I love how the Marxist press corps words this, “…in the wake of the Gabby Giffords tragedy.” No sir. Had Mrs. Giffords had a specific security detail protecting her; had all citizens been checked for firearms; had the U.S. instituted Israeli-developed mental health strategies for discovering criminals/terrorists/suicide bombers in airports, shopping centers and hospitals Loughner would have been caught the day he walked in with his 9mm pistols.

    • He planned on using the results of his Fast and Furious program to take away our guns, but that backfired on him. Obama is the new “Tricky Dick”.

      • Obama’s program caused the death of one of our agents. And of course, the Marxist anti-Semitic, anti-American press is *silent*.

  2. From the Huffpo article on gun control:
“But in a nod to the difficulties of getting legislation through a Republican-run House of Representatives, only executive orders or administrative actions — and not an actual bill — are expected to be handed to Congress.”
He can use his autopen to sign whatever executive orders he wants, but if he plans on taking away our guns by fiat, he’s going to face some push back. Charlton Heston said it best…

    • I made the decision long ago: I will never give up my firearms. Whether its a Rep or Dem in the WH is machts nichts. And neither will another 19,000,000 gun owners. The majority may give them up voluntarily … but there will be at least 5,000,000 who will not. And its those 5 million that keep the Jack-booted thugs at bay.
