First Lady Michelle Obama will appear at three fundraisers next Thursday, June 30, bringing to seven the number of fundraisers she has held this month.
The heavy schedule of money raising this far our from Election Day suggests that the Obama reelection campaign is going to make frequent use of the first lady, both to raise money and campaign.
By comparison, former First Lady Laura Bush held 13 fundraisers in all of 2003, the year before George W. Bush’s reelection.
Mrs. Obama’s first fundraiser will be at a luncheon in Boston, followed by two early evening fundraisers in Burlington, Vt.
Much of the cost of Mrs. Obama’s travel will be borne by taxpayers since she has an “official” first lady appearance squeezed in between the Boston and Burlington fundraisers – an event “to show appreciation to the Vermont National Guard and their families,” according to the White House.
President Obama also usually has an “official” event to attend when he travels to raise money. Having such an appearance that defrays costs on the itinerary is common practice for presidents when they travel to fundraisers outside of Washington.
Obama himself will appear at two fundraisers next Thursday in Philadelphia, meaning that between them the Obamas will hold forth at five fundraising events in a single day.
Earlier this month, in a swing through California, Mrs. Obama raised a total of at least $2.5 million at four stops over two days in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. She attended two official events on the trip.

“The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury.” ~ George Washington
They are just making sure their coffers are full before the fall. Congress doesn’t even have the guts to cut off funding to the illegal non-war in Libya, so party on Trotskyites.
OK, I know other presidents have combined “official” trips with fundraisers – but to this extent? Why no screaming about the blatant hyprocrisy? I see Axelrod’s and Plouffe’s fingerprints all over these ploys. My fear is that they “won” in 2008 without all the taxpayer’s money. Now look what they’re doing with all our wealth. Five fundraising events in a single day? How many planes, limos, secret service, handlers, etc. etc. etc.? Hypocrisy on steroids!
The Obamas could raise a trillion $$$ but we need more than happy words and pretty videos to convince us to reelect a President who has shown us that he doesn’t know what to do about anything
The Repubs will offer a new beginning, a candidate with real political credentials and give us a reason to believe that we can gain back the freedoms that have been taken from us.
Back in 1968 Pat Paulsen ran for President. Henry Fonda narrated the story of Paulsen’s campaign, perhaps we need another Paulsen to counter the craziness that the campaign is already starting to become.

Around 7:22 Paulsen does his take on fund raising. Funny!
Great post!
Maybe it’s time Congress limit these taxpayer funded trips like the IRS limits tax deductible business expenses. The ” official business” is paid for by the taxpayer and the percentage that was used for one’s own re-election campaign is paid by donations or political parties. This privilege is being abused by the politicians and needs to be rectified because we can’t afford it anymore.
Who in the h e double hockey sticks lives in Vermont besides The Bob Newhart Show? Which I enjoyed!
Oh boy more clothes and jewelry for Michelle! Everybody get your wallets out!
Ah… making the taxpayers that want him out of office pay for his re-election… That’s Change You Can Believe In.
Yes We Con !
Maybe it is time that Presidents and wives are not allowed to fund raise. I have had no problems with it because I didn’t think any President abused the taxpayers. At least not to the extent the Obamas are doing.
This is when rights and freedom get restricted . . . when anyone abuses the right. Obama’s may be overdoing it.
Didn’t the left have a problem with President Bush at one time? Seems to me that they did and the RNC ended up paying a good chunk of money reimbursing the government. I think it had to do with a trip to somewhere in CA.
Here’s an inside look at one of her fundraisers:

Wow, now that is living the high life. Didn’t look like very many low cal treats among all the finger foods. Quite a few of the attendees could stand to watch Michelle’s “Let’s Move” exercise tape a few times too ;-)
With Soro’s Attorney Generals in many states, who do you think is going to win in 2012. I predict landslide vote for whoever is running against Ovomit. I also predict that Dear Leader will be proclaimed the winner, the media will back this up, and their will be riots across the nation. This man and his administration will do whatever is necessary to remain in office, and I mean anything!
What’s the drill? Don flashy, overpriced outfit and carry on about how overworked the president is?
They are such ugly people. And looks have nothing to do with it.
May she choke on a spring roll. One can only hope. Oh…the audacity!
I am no fan of Hillary Clinton, but when she tried this, the entire country went up in arms.
Why doesn’t anybody say anything about Michelle doing this?
Michelle Obama should have raised funds for her trip to Africa instead of having the taxpayers pay for the trip. I thought everyone was going to sacrifice – sacrifice should start with the President and first family during our country’s current economic problems. Working class Ameicans are sacrificing while our government and Wall Street are partying.
Before my WSJ was so cruelly whipped from my fingers by poverty, I think I saw Wall St may be laying off. Poetic justice! Or just a good time for us bitter, bent, and ruined types?
