In the history of mankind, many republics have risen, have flourished for a less or greater time, and then have fallen because their citizens lost the power of governing themselves and thereby of governing their state. TR

Obama Just Wanted to Help Poor Mr. Weiner Out

This is so touching.

During the interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts that was on the telly this morning, President Obama, who had just forced Rep. Anthony Weiner out of office against both the Congressman’s wishes and those of his constituents, said he DID IT FOR HIM.

I wish Rep. Weiner and his lovely wife well. Obviously, it’s been a tough incident for him, but I’m confident that they’ll refocus and he’ll refocus, and they’ll end up being able to bounce back.

I think it was just important for him to be able to focus on his family. And what’s most important, I think for all of us, is, how do the people we love … how are we interacting with them? And this gives him some time to do that.

Awwww. I’m sure Weiner called Obama and said, thank you FOR SCREWING ME.

This is truly (Bill) Clintonian in its level of self-delusion and abnegation of responsibility. Obama earlier this week finished Weiner off by signaling the White House wanted him out, saying  “I can tell you that if it was me, I would resign.” What’s more, he did it because it had become clear to Democratic leaders that Weinergate had become a big political loser, as I wrote today in POLITICO,  jeopardizing things like, you know, Obama’s reelection.

This is like if Henry VIII told Anne Boleyn he was removing her head to improve her appearance. Not really very believable, but it makes the executioner feel a lot better.

  1. It’s not that we expect the Press to ask the POTUS is he quit beating his wife now or does he plan to give all of his friends positions of power, but it would be so nice if they would quit with the bunny puff questions that elicit platitudes of syupy goop.
As for helping the Weiner’s to cope with this public humiliation, the less said the better now. MrsWeiner and her unborn child will have to deal with this scandal the rest of their lives.

  2. The syntax of the second paragraph is so tortured, that it almost makes me think that Pres. Obama is professing to love Rep. Weiner.

  3. Weiner is just another casualty of the Obama campaign bus. He isn’t the first and he won’t be the last to have tire tracks on his back. Weiner was supposed to be the rising star of the Democrat party. Too bad for him, he wasn’t a member of Obama’s crew. Weiner was a protege of Bill Clinton so he is expendable.

Keep hoping there is one loyal American among the ‘road kill’ who will come clean and confess to the criminal enterprise that is D.C. That probably won’t be Weiner. He’s only worried about #1 and nobody else. I’m sure he has been promised a lucrative job that will keep him living well and his lips zipped.

  4. Ha, ha, ha! “I’m relieving you of your job so you can concentrate on healing with your family.”

Empty your desk and let the healing begin!
