Obama Politicizes Bin Laden Killing

News Flash: Osama Bin Laden may not be dead. How do I know? It seems he has joined President Obama on the campaign trail.

That’s right, Obama has scooped up the vanquished evildoer and brought him out onto the hustings, bragging tonight during a campaign appearance at a fundraiser in Austin about his success

The Los Angeles Times reports.

Early in Obama’s appearance, someone shouted out, “Thank you for getting Bin Laden!’’

Obama said that was a “case in point’’ – a reason for voters to let him “finish what we started.’’

Later, Obama ticked off what he described as his administration’s accomplishments: lifting the ban on gays in the military; bringing troops home from Iraq.

And then: “And because of the extraordinary bravery of the men and women who wear this nation’s uniform and the outstanding work of our intelligence agencies,’’ Obama said, “Osama bin Laden will never again threaten the United States.’’

The crowd roared.

Nice how Obama tries to pretend he’s crediting the military instead of himself. THIS IS A CAMPAIGN EVENT. Are the “men and women who wear this nation’s uniform” running for president with you? We’re really not fooled, sir.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney assured us last week that this was not to be:

I think that what happened on Sunday — and this is very important because it would be a shame if this became a piece in a partisan narrative, because what I think the President feels very strongly about is that the accomplishment on Sunday was an American accomplishment, and it was not a Republican or a Democratic accomplishment.

Yes, it would be a shame, and it is. It seemed to many of us that Obama was taking just a little too much credit in the aftermath of Bin Laden killing. Now we know he was only getting started.

    • That article is very revealing Granny Jan. All the intelligence they were able to collect is now worthless because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

  1. The man has absolutely no shame at all Keith. That he uses our military and intelligence community as pawns to help fill his campaign coffer is unconscionable. All the while Holder is still prosecuting the CIA interrogators who helped him get Osama.

I’m almost embarrassed that Austin is the capitol of Texas. Can’t believe a bunch of looney drones were slobbering all over this man who has repeatedly kicked Texas in the teeth. Now I understand those “Keep Austin Weird” bumper stickers the liberals are so proud of.

  2. He lies. “He” didn’t start the hunt for BinLaden so it stands that he doesn’t need to be re-elected to “finish” anything.
He lies. The border fence is not almost completed; it is 1,200 miles short of completion.
He lies. Repubs don’t want a “moat” with alligators at the border; almost everyone in the US wants a moat filled with alligators at the border.
He lies. Passing the DREAM act or any variation of it will not enhance our country, our economy, or our status in the world.
    He lies.

    • I am not sure I want alligators…but I take your point. Maybe some attention to this would be good. What do I know–I am so depressed over all this I watch “Breaking Bad” reruns all nite.

  3. Oh, Keith! Maybe Obama should have landed in one of those stealth helicopters, under a banner proclaiming “Mission Accomplished!” Though I guess this time it should read “Mission (Actually) Accomplished!” Let’s face it: Obama did what GWB couldn’t do, has left so-called “hawkish” Republicans sputtering, and just cinched his own re-election, even if the lasting bump is only 1-2%. Sorry, guys…

  4. “Early in Obama’s appearance, someone shouted out, “Thank you for getting Bin Laden!’’

Look for this to happen frequently…from now on. Can you imagine how tired this will sound by the 2012 summer?

  5. The ‘victory lap,’ ‘spiking of the football’ (I still don’t know why, with Duh Won’s affinity for basketball, call it a ‘slam dunk’), I predict, will backfire.

Dear Leader did it all, didn’t he? Put together the team; approved the intel; doubled the team; probably even pulled the trigger (twice!) via remote…he is a military genius. Its a long time til November 2012…when something goes wrong…how will micromanaging Soetaro back away…given his stated ‘I am doing it all, all the time’ mantra now?

Even BinLaden’s son is saying he wants an investigation…ouch. Will Barry Soetaro be called out by the Hague?

  6. Later, Obama ticked off what he described as his administration’s accomplishments: lifting the ban on gays in the military; bringing troops home from Iraq.

First, the troops in Iraq, such as the Soldiers of 3/1 CAV, will be fascinated to learn that they are home. Second, no mention of the stimulus or ObamaCare among the accomplishments?
