Thanks Bush! Obamas Get the Old Rates and a Refund

President and Mrs. Obama reported $1.796 million in pre-adjusted total income on returns released today, ending up with tidy $12,334  refund in part because of Obama’s own unsuccessful efforts to eliminate the Bush tax cuts for those making more than $250,00.

Much of the Obama’s income was from the two best selling books he wrote prior to becoming president.

The Obama’s reported $245,000 in charitable giving. The largest beneficiary was the Fisher House Foundation, which provides free or low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers. It got $131,000. The Bush Clinton Haiti Fund received $15,000 and the Boys and Girls Club of America got $10,000. Many of the other charities on the Obamas’ list center on education and health.

The comparatively impoverished Vice President and Mrs. Biden earned but $379,000 – Biden having had no dreams from his father and having failed to study the potential audaciousness of hope. They gave $5,350 to charity, but this includes $950 of their old junk clothing and household items provided to Goodwill and the Clothing Bank of Delaware.

They filed as residents of Delaware, while the Obamas filed as residents of the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  1. Huh. If they are legal residents in the WH located in DC then they should not have voted in Chicago for MrMayorElectEmanuel. One could argue that they don’t own (yet) the WH, nor do they rent the WH as tenants. Their primary residence in in Illinois.
As for the source of the income; nothing he wrote is anywhere on anyone’s “best-selling” list. So, the question is who’s buying the books 3 or 4 years after they were written.

  2. So if Obama believes the rich should pay a higher tax rate, why did he not set an example for the American people by refusing some of the deductions?

  3. Book royalties that he neither deserves or earned. Dreams From My Father is the biggest hoax ever perpetrated in our political history and the most destructive. Jack Cashill has led the way but even though his book is irrefutable most of the media, conservative and liberal just look away.

  4. Who’s buying books 3 or 4 years after they were written? Perhaps the beneficiaries of taxpayer largess buy his worthless books. Seems like an excellent way to garner compensation for services rendered.

The Fisher House is a fantastic charity that helps the military community. It is good to know they have a new found love for the military. Those other education and health care charities wouldn’t have anything to do with the non-profit groups that provide the ground troops for the various progressive causes they support I’m sure.

Did anybody see Michelle’s performance on The View today? I don’t watch the show, but I did see the RCP clip where she said she wants to embrace the country she loves. Do you think it is the same country she is, for the first time in her life, proud of?
