As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Video: Carney Readies Rhetoric for Debt Limit Clash

Jay Carney entered the briefing room loaded for bear yesterday, the bear being Republicans who might want to achieve some deficit reduction first as a condition for raising the debt ceiling. This will be the next big budget battle, and Carney previewed for us some of the rhetoric the White House plans to brandish in the fight.

I prepared a little video for you of Jay’s jabs. Personally, I think he got a little carried away. He just suddenly unfurled this string of awful eventualities. Reporters tried to stop him, but he was rolling.

I’m pretty sure Jay had no idea what was even happening. My sources tell me he was programmed by David Plouffe in an experiment that will be repeated with President Obama as the campaign season heats up and the need for extended streams of vitriol becomes greater.

Anyhow, Jay, please take it away.

Well, I suppose at least he made his point.

    • I think I can paraphrase it for you. Carney said that if the debt ceiling is not raised, “I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields. They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the [Americans]—something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.”

  1. Does Obama have any knowledge, from his “proffesional career” as a “community organizer” & empty suit “politican”, how to set-up or use a “budget”?
(does Obama have ‘economics classes’ in his “college records”?)

  2. A budget is never actually prepared by the CEO. The CFO is responsible for the details based on guidance from the CEO. So Obama acting as CEO wants a large social services budget which is to be funded by taxes on the rich. The OMB prepares the actual budget. Using budget tricks not accounting tricks they present a balanced budget.

To analyze the budget you need need to see the detailed Department budgets. If the Rep. are serious about reform they need to go through each Department budget and cut waste and duplications.
