As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

President Trump notes a few controversial pardons by his predecessors. Don’t remember much outcry when Barack Obama pardoned Puerto Rican terrorist Oscar Lopez Rivera.

From Trump’s remarks:

President Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, who was charged with crimes going back decades, including illegally buying oil from Iran while it held 53 American hostages — wasn’t allowed to do that, selling to the enemies of the United States. He was pardoned after his wife donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Clintons.

Then you have dangerous criminals. President Clinton pardoned Susan Rosenberg, a member of the Weather Underground, charged as part of a bank robbery that led to a guard and two police officers being killed.

Drug dealers. President Clinton commuted the sentence of Carlos Vignali, a central player in a cocaine ring that stretched from California to Minnesota.

Criminal leaker. You’ve heard the word “leaker.” President Obama commuted the sentence of Chelsea Manning, who leaked countless sensitive and classified documents to WikiLeaks, perhaps and others. But a horrible, horrible thing that he did. Commuted the sentence and perhaps pardoned.

President Obama commuted the sentence of Oscar Lopez Rivera, who was charged as part of a violent independence group from Puerto Rico, responsible for 28 Chicago-area bombings and many deaths in the 1970s and 1980s.

  1. OT. I read Sheriff Joe has considered running for some office…mayor, legislature or even challenging Sen. Flake who is up for re-election next year. Right now he is going fishing. He said he had no hobbies. He is 85. He looks to me a young 85. I am glad he got the pardon so he can get on with life.

The MSM did not hold Obama accountable for anything.

    • I would luv to see Keith ask his fellow “WH press corps” buddies why they are such HYPOCRITES; Clinton & Obama pardons of criminals vs. Trump’s pardon…???

  2. It’s time for Our President to look past the MSM and the anti-Trumpers on to the country as a whole.
We’re concerned about N. Korea’s aggressions, we’re sad at heart following the tragedy in Texas, we’re divided on the Black football player’s refusal to honor our Nat’l Anthem, and we have families, jobs, medical issues – all of which have nothing to do with Sheriff Joe, Russia, what Joe Biden is doing or anyone in the Press who has a grudge against anyone not a Dem.
Sheriff Joe followed the law as he read it. We here in AZ were grateful for all he tried to do. The citizens of California now have the illegal aliens to care for, to teach their children English, to tend to their medical needs and we’re happy about that.
For all of his time in office, Sheriff Joe rubbed up against everyone except the voters who appreciated an honest, hard working servant.
Our President did the right thing in granting this pardon. It’s over now.

  3. I have no issue with Sheriff Arpaio getting a pardon.
When I the see the people that Clinton and Obama pardoned, it is refreshing to see this. Quick, swift and just

  4. While politics contests economy, this is a war which is difficult to judge who win, who lost. Sometimes, the politics may even surrender. Even the evil criminals can be commuted or even pardoned when encountering with benefits. Marc Rich who’s illegally oil pedlar was pardoned by Clinton since he’s willing to donate money to the white house. Even the dangerous criminal who plan a bank robery which cause a guard and two police officers being killed was pardoned. Drug dealers were moved from California to Minnesota. Information leakers were also commuted or even pardoned.
