Trump Regrets Hiring Sessions

President Trump told the New York Times in an Oval Office interview Wednesday that he would not have appointed Jeff Sessions to be attorney general if he knew Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia investigation.

From the Times:

President Trump said on Wednesday that he never would have appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions had he known Mr. Sessions would recuse himself from overseeing the Russia investigation that has dogged his presidency, calling the decision “very unfair to the president.”

In a remarkable public break with one of his earliest political supporters, Mr. Trump complained that Mr. Sessions’s decision ultimately led to the appointment of a special counsel that should not have happened. “Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Mr. Trump said.

Sessions, according to reports, has fallen out of favor and is no longer included in the inner circle.

Trump obviously is deeply frustrated and quite fixated on the whole Russia mess. And I’m sure its even worse for him now that his son has been drawn into it and is going to have to testify.

But I think problem is eventually going to pass, because it does not appear to me that there is anything significant there, at least as far as I can tell right now. And he’d do well to remember that nobody will be more effective implementing his immigration agenda than Jeff Sessions.

  1. He’s unhappy with MrSessions? That makes two of us who feel that way.
Instead of standing tough, Sessions caved to the PC influence of most of Congress – don’t rock the boat, don’t stand for anything special, and pretend you’re really working hard.
The political class of professionals have one goal – to stay in power, no matter what it takes.

    • I really wonder why Trump hasn’t gone after the Clinton crime family. There is something we don’t know. Do they have something on him that might be revealed? Something of either a personal or public nature?

  2. I, too, am disappointed in Sessions after having admired him for some years. His recusing himself from all Russian-related investigations did, indeed, open the door for this endlessly tumbling forth of anti-Trump time-wasting garbage.

And it is NOT Trump’s immigration agenda, Keith, it’s the American peoples’ agenda. I still think Sessions is ethical enough to see the difference and not punish us because he and Trump are no longer best buds.

    • Sessions turned out to be a freaking elf, probably with a small brain! Sessions is acting righteous about what he did to Trump by recusing himself. It seems like he’s acting like a boyscout rather than his phony title that he took. After reading and digesting what Sessions did by recusing himself, I believe he is the cause of the special counsel. Sessions was aware with special counsel’s do and what this ugly biased special counsel would do to Trump and still, Sessions let the special counsel do his evil things to Trump. With friends like Sessions you don’t need enemies, as the saying goes. I believe Sessions will be gone in shame pretty soon, its all his fault that this hoax investigation is betting bigger. Sessions is the one who hurt Trump from the getgo of this so-called witch hunt. Sessions thinks he’s a goody two shoes about what he did, but God knows he is helping hurt Trump.

  3. Yesterday Sessions issued an order to increase “Asset Forfeitures” This means no due process if they think you have something from crime.
They just have to think…just think you have done something they take your money, house, cars and anything of value.
The land of the free?? Innocent till proven guilty? All thrown under the bus to protect us. Right!
Taking your money because they think you are a bad guy. Insane in this Country, but they do it every day. Think about that!

    • Many dem operatives have dropped out. Also the political scene is depressing these days. Way spend time looking at the fake news the MSM puts out.
Its impossible to have a meaningful talk with a dem…I have tried and they are so brainwashed its insane what they believe.

  4. Why did Mr. Trump give an interview with the New York Times? They obviously are out to get them and will highlight anything negative that he says. Big mistake to give that interview.

  5. Gee really?
This is the kind of thing I wish DT would just button his lip about.
There is nothing wrong with Sessions. He is perfectly competent and he backed DT when others were not.
