As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Trump Continues to Help CNN Self-Destruct

Speaking at a press conference on Poland today, President Trump noted that CNN now has “some pretty serious problems.”

It does. Its latest problem is that it threatened and blackmailed an individual it dislikes, something so contrary to what we think of as journalism — even partisan journalism — that it demonstrates the depths to which CNN seems to have sunk.

Trump said:

Yeah, I think what CNN did was unfortunate for them. As you know, now they have some pretty serious problems. They have been fake news for a long time. They’ve been covering me in a very, uh, very dishonest way . . .

But CNN and others — and others; I mean NBC is equally as bad, despite the fact that I made them a fortune with ‘The Apprentice,’ but they forgot that. But I will say that CNN has really taken it too seriously, and I think they’ve hurt themselves very badly — very, very badly. And what we want to see in the United States is honest, beautiful, free — but honest — press. We want to see fair press. I think it’s a very important thing. We don’t want fake news.

And by the way, not everybody is fake news. But we don’t want fake news. Bad thing. Very bad for our country.

Below, CNN’s Jim Acosta strikes back at Trump, accusing the president himself of conveying fake news.

Back in the day, journalists who claimed to be from neutral networks did everything they could not to get personally involved in the story they were covering. It wasn’t about them, it was about the news. Well, that’s all gone, and CNN can no longer ever claim that it is operating mainly as a news organization.

Now, I realize CNN has long had a liberal bias, just as nearly all mainstream news outlets do. But at least they tried to minimize it by not making themselves part of the story.

I can remember years ago, when I was part of the mainstream media, Nelson Mandela came to the White House. I stood right next to him. I wanted to shake his hand, but I didn’t. I was there to cover Mandela, not to engage with him personally. It wasn’t about me.

Now that Trump has baited the media into a personal fight, he has caused them to damage themselves — and whatever “authority” they had — irreparably. It’s very clever what Trump has done, and CNN now must either try to compete with MSNBC for liberal viewers or start going down the tubes. Probably, the latter.

  1. It’s understandable that MrK is dismayed by the state of decline of the MSM, but us yokels out here in fly-over country are enjoying every second of their misery.
We deplorables, clingers to guns and bibles, non educated voters, racist/sexist/many phobic and alt right wing radicals are seeing the MSM reveal their true colors.
They are conceited, bigoted, condescending liars who have tried to influence America into thinking they represent the majority – they don’t.
CNN’s Avalon is claiming that PresidentTrump is “airing America’s dirty laundry” on his overseas trip. (clueless dolt that he is)
When Obama spent years denigrating our country, our past and our future, and is still doing it today, not a word from the MSM CNN people.
We aren’t fools, we see what they do, and we don’t like it.
    Eat dirt and die, CNN/MSM.

    • Yes, I am certainly enjoying their misery too.
Our MSM is in well-deserved decline too because they choose to support a pro-immigration-globalist agenda instead of good old honest reporting. They denied what happened for a long time. But now we have Internet and alternative media. Long live the Internet. It liberated us.

  2. Absolutely agree here, they self destruct in front of everyone.
Now I read that CNNs president Zucker complains about Trump ( !!!!) bullying CNN ! They must think that viewers have neither eyes nor ears.Or brains. Well, CNN seems to exist in a bubble, CNN-people don´t realize how the Internet changed the world. CNN now belongs to yesterday. And they certainly pulled that victim-card quickly, oh dear, for that they will only get scorn and contempt.

  3. MSM is pro climate change by man. Here is a fact to consider.
The earth axis spin is a wobble. Taking 22000 years to complete one wobble. 10000 years ago Egypt was very wet now its a desert. The wobble effects the angle of attack to the sun. Changing the weather patterns as it points to a different spot in the sky.
Current polar star is not the same as the one 10000 years ago.
Fact not fiction…..good luck saving the planet !!!

  4. srdem – I kind of mildly object to the use of “yokels” for fly-over residents as we are so much smarter than the trash in Washington even though I get your point and agree wholeheartedly with it.

    • “They” also love to use the word “rubes,” which…I love history and all, but that’s very, umm, 1908 or thereabouts. Sorry that we don’t inhale our daily dosage of carbon monoxide and whatever else is floating around in those glorious urban areas, right?

  5. I saw there was a poll out saying that more people trust CNN’s truthfulness than the President’s. Where do they find these unenlightened people?

  6. Acosta is bent out of shape because he didn’t get facetime when they turned the cameras off during some of the WH Press meetings. Throwing a tantrum;) He’s extremely vain and thinks he’s George Clooney, who I can’t stand either.

  7. It seems Acosta himself is what the MSM , public education, the corporate world, & much of Christianity have been all about since since 1955: any one who would want to shake the hand of the communist terrorist, Nelson Mandela, demonstrates supreme ignorance & is unAmerican in the original sense of the word!

  8. I find it slightly amusing that just a couple of months ago the MSM was decrying (celebrating?) the imminent destruction of Fox News (which hasn’t happened). Now here we are with CNN in at least equally bad shape, albeit for very different reasons, and yet not a peep from them.
