Former Special Prosecutor Ken Starr said Thursday that he does not believe Trump’s purported statements to ex-FBI Director James Comey amount to obstruction of Justice.
Obstruction of Justice is really a very hard crime to make out. It’s not just, you want the investigation to go away, you suggested the investigation goes away, you’ve got to take really affirmative action.
Starr noted that Trump was expressing a “hope” that the investigation into former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn would go away. “The language is far removed from a directive,” Starr said, even though Comey said he interpreted it that way.
