So Erdogan is in Washington ? Interesting.Turkey has a key position, Turks can play the EU, the US and Russia, and they do. Now, they don┬┤t like that Trump wants to arm the Kurds in the fight against IS. If anyone can and will fight IS it is the Kurds, they are extremely tough, ruthless and hard fighters, and Erdogan fears them. Because they want a nation of their own. At the same time, Russia has long historic relations with Turkey, they are friends, on and off, useful in the Syria conflict. And Europe pours money in the Turkish coffers to make Turkey stop the invasion of migrants running from Syria. What will Trump do in this mess ? What will happen to Mr Gulen ?

  2. The US needs to be tougher on Erdogan. He is a thug. And although he is important , even he knows he will not do so well outside the Alliance where he will be just one thug against many.

And speaking of getting tougher. The Trump Administration needs to get rid of the Obama holdovers. The US Ambassador to Qatar, an Obama bundler (or her parents were)is disturbingly critical of the President.

The Administration says it can’t find people, other than other Obama holdovers. I say bunk. With the exception of critical countries, the primary requirement for an Ambassadorship is that one is supportive of the President and/or the Party and has donated, or has, a lot of money. The State Department is full of laughable Ambassadors. Absolutely ill equipped.

I don’t know if the Trump Administration is lazy, overwhelmed or just blind to the danger Obama left overs can cause. If they can’t see it now with all that is going on, then they never will. And that’s on them.

A President is entitled to have his “own people” to assist.
