As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

This is cute. Watch as President Trump and Vice President Pence suddenly materialize behind Education Secretary Betsy DeVos during an event on school choice.

Trump seems to be serious about expanding children’s access to better schools. And in Betsy DeVos, he has a fighter who is not afraid to take the arrows that slung at her by the moribund education establishment that wants to preserve the failing system. Nothing could be more important than giving kids, particularly the poorest among us, the chance to realize their God-given talents by getting a strong start with a solid education.

From Trump’s remarks:

So yesterday I said that our spending bill was a win for the American people, which is exactly what it was — an amazing day. And this is what winning for young children and kids from all over the country looks like. The opportunity scholarship program that we’re funding allows families in the inner city of our nation’s capital to leave failing public schools and attend a private school, making an extraordinary difference in these incredible young lives.

    • Agree. President Trump is engaged, involved, interested in the affairs of the nation, and works the job from sunrise to well past sundown, it seems.

In the end, with all his seemingly awkward steps (as well as when he takes the right steps) his heart and his head are in the right place. That counts for a lot. He’s a “get ‘er done” type of manager, doesn’t tolerate or brook fools, loathes incompetence and deception, works his butt all day long trying to get the right things done.

Oh, he’ll stumble on occasion, say exactly the wrong thing at times, listen far too often to what his family members say about this or that policy. We know that. In the final analysis, though, he is interesting, unpredictable, smart, courageous, awkward at times, and, by golly, he has come to Washington to try to root out the bad policies, the self-serving politicians and bureaucrats and get us back on track. As much as he can do those things. And given he’s one person fighting against the way things are at the present times, he’ll make some progress over time. That’s all we dare to ask for at this point.

    • And Jeff, speaking of Barry’s behavior as President, we have this:

“President Obama’s team sought NSA intel on thousands of Americans during the 2016 election”

      From the story:

“During his final year in office, President Obama’s team significantly expanded efforts to search National Security Agency intercepts for information about Americans, distributing thousands of intelligence reports across government with the unredacted names of U.S. residents during the midst of a divisive 2016 presidential election.”

I’m sure Barry will explain all that in his upcoming memoirs, no?
