Two Republicans Join Democrats’ Call for Trump’s Taxes

President Trump is under no legal obligation to release his taxes. Where were the Democrats when Barack Obama and Bill Clinton refused to release their health records? Where are Obama’s college records? Sure, I think it would be nice for Trump to release them. But don’t these Republicans understand that they are making themselves part of a¬†wide ranging Democratic effort not effect good government, but to destroy the administration?

Two House Republicans joined more than 160 Democrats on Friday in calling on President Trump to release his taxes, the Washington Examiner reported.

Reps. Mark Sanford, R-S.C., and Walter Jones, R-N.C., signed a letter to Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Texas, and Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, calling on them to ask Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to compel Trump to release his taxes for the past decade to those committees for review.

The letter is the latest move by Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., in trying to finally pry Trump’s taxes loose.

“Disclosure would serve the public interest of clarifying President Trump’s conflicts of interest in office, the potential for him to personally benefit from tax reform, and ensure that he is not receiving any preferential treatment from the IRS,” the letter leads.

  1. Even if they passed a law and overrode a Trump veto it would be deemed unconstitutional encroachment by the legislative on the executive.
    It’s nothing but a gimmick for the media to pick apart and Mitt Romney’s dad should be dug up and whipped for starting the stupid stunt.

  2. There’s no political value in him doing it…the MSM will spin it every way contrary to reality.

    And it’s obvious some House Republicans would rather have a Democrat back in the White House in 2020 rather than Trump…and they should be smoked out accordingly at the ballot box in 2018.

  3. Sanford: not exactly the poster boy for good behavior…. ran away for a few days in 2009 and ended up with another woman, something like that…. and HE is the one demanding answers…. laughable.

    H

    • Not only did Sanford run away, he went to Argentina!! His aides told the press here in SC that he was hiking the Appalachian Trail!

      • LOL, I had forgotten that. Methinks Sanford was hiking himself in other locations, not necessarily associated with our national hiking trails. What a maroon he is. ;+}

  4. Here’s what would happen if they got their grubby fingers on MrTrump’s personal tax returns:
    First they would hire a bevy of accountants to pour through thousands of forms. They would then demand(!) documents proving what was claimed or assigned to one line or another. MrTrump’s accounting firm (I suppose he has one) would spend weeks explaining how and why they put this number on that line and what it meant.

    Here’s what we will be told, courtesy of the Dems/MSM:
    He only gave XX% of his yearly income to charity!!!
    He was only taxed at XX%!
    He has money invested in offshore banks!
    He deducted something! And another thing!
    He’s not as rich as he claimed!

    We had a small business – 15 employees. Our tax return was done by professionals. It was 40 pages of forms we didn’t understand, but signed anyway.
    The IRS was satisfied.
    The IRS is satisfied that MrTrump has paid his taxes as proscribed by law or we would see him in court already.

    All they want to do is embarrass him again.

  5. Like anybody that gets the bits and pieces they will disseminate will understand what they are looking at.

    People don’t even understand that when companies move their production overseas, it is not the company’s evil management that is to blame, it is the economic climate set up by the federal government that is to blame.

    They’re not going to understand taxes of a multi-gazillionaire.

  6. I have been shocked that the Democrats learned nothing from this election! Now, I have to say the same of the Repubs- quit eating your own. I’m so mad at the way they turned on Jeff Sessions this week I could scream. If there is anything to learn from Democrats, it’s that they don’t turn tail and run, they don’t recuse, they never back down. Please Repubs, grow a set!!!

  7. I have worked in accounting for many many many years and have no desire to see the President’s taxes. Most boring documents EVER!
    Lil Barry’s records,however,would intrigue this inquiring mind,so bust it out you shadow government cling on.

    • Same here. CPA/CIA and seeing his returns won’t get you much other than as someone else said up above fake reasons to try and embarrass President Trump (didn’t give enough to charity, didn’t pay his fair share of taxes, etc.).

      Barry Soetoro on the other hand, I would bet a million bucks he claimed he was a foreign student in order to get preferential acceptance at Columbia. Kinda like Elizabeth Warren being a fake Native American to her advantage.

      What I do find ironic but not surprising is that Hillary only served one term as SOS and notice that the returns she released didn’t include any during her time as SOS.

      • On the other hand, as to Hillary, she made available every national secret we had on her open servers. which even a high school kid could get into. Every enemy of the United States had access to the most sensitive secrets we had by poking into Hillary’s servers (and, in fact, likely did so). So maybe she somehow had her tax records on those servers via her computer? Maybe we can just check with the Ayatollahs in Iran, or Putin’s intelligence forces, or the Chinese intelligence agencies. They surely have Hillary’s tax returns on file, no? ;+}

  8. Grrrr.. How about the millions in unspecified “Foreign Income” reported by Obama during his White House years? Millions of dollars in income the media simply assumed probably came from his book sales? Millions on which he took a “Foreign Tax Credit” year after year to avoid paying taxes in the US during the time he was yelling about how everybody else needed to pay more?

  9. Trump’s taxes don’t interest me one bit. What matters is that Trump loves this country, wants to make it better for my children, and keep us safe. He is surrounded by evil people who will stop at nothing to undermine him at all costs. Pray for him.

  10. They can also release all of theirs and their spouses. That should be interesting. Then they can release all those personal documents and records Obama locked away under “priviledge”. Hmm, Obama changed the security for former presidents and their families to lifetime. Maybe President Trump should change it to —- oh, I don’t know — 2 months, retroactively?
