Reid: Dems 2020 Roster looks like an ‘Old Folks Home’

Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid says the potential 2020 Democratic presidential field resembles an “old folks home,” according to a new report.

In the aftermath of President-elect Trump’s victory and recent chatter that Vice President Biden could launch a 2020 campaign for the Democratic nomination, the Nevada Democrat remarked that the field of prospective candidates in four year’s time looks like an “old folks home.” The soon-to-be former senator was referring to Biden, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, all of whom could launch campaigns.

“It depends on who’s running,” Reid told an aide while preparing for his final press conference at the Capitol in early December. “It appears we’re going to have an old-folks’ home. We’ve got [Elizabeth] Warren; she’ll be 71. Biden will be 78. Bernie [Sanders] will be 79.”

  1. The Dems seem to be looking around the country now and don’t like what they see.
After 8 years of Obama and Obama, the Repubs have quietly wiped out any Dem control or support inside the coastal states.
They lost the White middle class, the unions, the confused and befuddled, and all that’s left are raging young progressives and moribund fuddy-duddys.

They’re not stupid, nor blind. We can only imagine how jealous they were of the Repub bench that ran for President – 16 up and coming, young enough to last, yet old enough to inspire trust.

With MrTrump and his Repubs getting ready to appropriate what used to be Dem’s projects such as roads and bridges, attacking unfair trade agreements, freeing educators from rigid government control and worst/best of all – recharging the Supreme Court, the Dems seem to be frozen in the past without any hope.
Maybe Michelle Obama was right – the no-hope crowd exists, but it’s just the Dem elites, not the whole of the USA.

  2. Well, considering that “Young Harry” was 71 when he was last re-elected to the Senate for a 6 year term, he seems to be of the “Do as I say not as I do” camp.

  3. A solution to ‘old’ people being all the left has to offer, so they say, term limits will eliminate that problem very quickly. New blood is necessary, too many of these old congress critters are life-time government employees who have done little real work in the real world and have become disconnected from the working class who they constantly put more DEBT upon.
