As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Video || Trump Meets Obama at the White House

President Obama and President-Elect Trump pronounced themselves happy with their meeting at the White House today. Seems like they both acted like adults.

Trump brought several of his aides with him.

Noteworthy is the lead role played by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Is in line to be chief of staff? Could be. If you are going to bring family into the White House, they can’t be in a position of taking orders from anyone other than the president. So either chief of staff or “senior aide” with an office right next to the Oval.

From the pool report:

Seen as your pooler is waiting to enter the Oval Office, chief of staff Denis McDonough walking near the Rose Garden with Jared Kushner and other Trump aides, including Dan Scavino. McDonough was leading Kushner on a walk down the South Lawn.

Here’s the video.

Here is the transcript from the White House:

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, I just had the opportunity to have an excellent conversation with President-elect Trump. It was wide-ranging. We talked about some of the organizational issues in setting up the White House. We talked about foreign policy. We talked about domestic policy. And as I said last night, my number-one priority in the coming two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our President-elect is successful.

And I have been very encouraged by the, I think, interest in President-elect Trump’s wanting to work with my team around many of the issues that this great country faces. And I believe that it is important for all of us, regardless of party and regardless of political preferences, to now come together, work together, to deal with the many challenges that we face.

And in the meantime, Michelle has had a chance to greet the incoming First Lady. And we had an excellent conversation with her as well, and we want to make sure that they feel welcome as they prepare to make this transition.

Most of all, I want to emphasize to you, Mr. President-elect, that we now are going to want to do everything we can to help you succeed — because if you succeed, then the country succeeds.

Please.

PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP: Well, thank you very much, President Obama. This was a meeting that was going to last for maybe 10 or 15 minutes, and we were just going to get to know each other. We had never met each other. I have great respect. The meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half. And it could have — as far as I’m concerned, it could have gone on for a lot longer.

We really — we discussed a lot of different situations, some wonderful and some difficulties. I very much look forward to dealing with the President in the future, including counsel. He explained some of the difficulties, some of the high-flying assets and some of the really great things that have been achieved.

So, Mr. President, it was a great honor being with you, and I look forward to being with you many, many more times in the future.

  1. So Mr. Odestruction put on his Muslim lying face and blew BS.

He hates this country and hates Donald even more.

Obummer knows the trail of emails leads to him and maybe he wants a pardon for his miss deeds.

Jail for him and the Hildabeast!

  2. for the first time in 8 years I am proud of my country.

Its time for the discrimination of whites to end.

I woke up today in a New America….Hope for the end of the illegal invasion to finally end is here.

Build the wall and send the criminals illegals back to there deplorable homeland.

  3. All well and good. But I got an email from a friend in WDC who said our boy Josh had a little presser for DT with WH press corps or perhaps other and that the questions were demeaning etc etc. No surprise.

If this did happen — stooopid. Trump has good press people. And he has been known to limit access already — talking to you WAPO when he was traveling candidate. So go ahead, take your best shot. Ain’t going to last forever.

But — this is what I heard. Do not know. But would not surprise.

  4. OT–Interesting comments from Putin regarding Trump’s election:

“Putin sent Trump a congratulatory telegram Wednesday morning and made a televised statement expressing the hope that frayed U.S.-Russian relations could be put back on track. He said Moscow is ready to try to restore good relations.

“We aware that it is a difficult path, in view of the unfortunate degradation of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States,” he said, adding that “it is not our fault that Russian-American relations are in such a state.”

  5. Am I the only one losing patience with the sore loser Dems (and their children) who seem to think they were the victims of some nefarious Repub scheme called the “2016 presidential election”?
Listen up, Dems: look around you – Repubs are running your state, your legislature, your city and now your federal government. The American people don’t want your brand of politics and have acted in a responsible way by voting for sensible Repubs to govern us.
No Repub mob blocked traffic,or rioted in the streets when MrObama was elected twice.

Act like adults with some common sense. Rein in your truant children, look for some attractive candidates and take your best shot in the next election.
    geez.

    • It looks like the Democrats and their DNC have begun some serious soul searching as they begin to repair the damage done to their party by both Hillary and Obama. How’s this for a “what the hell went wrong” comment from the D’s?

“In the wreckage of Hillary Clinton’s unexpected loss, liberal lawmakers and advocacy groups have started plotting a major overhaul of the Democratic National Committee, with the aim of using the staid organization to reconnect the party with working-class voters it lost to President-elect Donald Trump.”

“Unexpected loss”? Really? Only they didn’t see it coming.

    • The temper tantrums I can deal with . The permitted threats of assassination on Twitter I can’t. Where is Twitter management, where is the FBI or the SS. These are identifiable threats to an elected official — to a President Elect. WTF does it take to move Loretta Lynch’s fat rear end out of that chair or wherever she is and act?

She sure scrambled her forces fast enough during Ferguson etc. Disgusting.

And hello Comey. You still have a job to do.

    • Seriously? I believe that’s what you and your candidate are whining months ago. Nor do I hear anyone whining about losing. Just that we’re sad and concerned given the rhetoric of the last 18 months. And he’s already whined that the protesters were unfair…WTF? If Obama had done that, you would have lynched him.

  6. DJT: “I very much look forward to dealing with the President in the future, including counsel. He explained some of the difficulties, some of the high-flying assets and some of the really great things that have been achieved.”

Any idea what ‘high flying assets’ are? Is this a real estate term for hot real estate properties?

  7. Can you clarify the rules on press pools in this transition.

I had ready something earlier that the Trump Press Pool was not allowed to go or not allow to photograph the meeting. But in another article it talked about the WH not letting the Press pool do any photos prior to the Trump/Obama meeting.

Are these one in the same or two separate issues?

  8. Hmmn … what suddenly BHO & his spouse have rejected malicious nastiness seen all through their tenure?
Nope I would be very wary of this ‘gracious’ veneer
when BHO & Clinton-Podesta Demoncrats appear reasonable – they’re up to something.

    • No doubt in my mind that Obama and his fellow usurpers, Soros, the Progressives, the anti-Constitutionalists, and the rest of that rabble are developing plans to destroy Trump’s presidency from day one.

  9. There is so much joy to take in…all the scary guys in the closet….i.e. The stock market is mighty fine….gridlock? Smooch….libs defiling their own neighborhoods…too freaking bad. You lost we won….deal with it!

  10. Allen West has some good strategic thinking to go along with Keith’s commentary. And after Obama is gone , he and the others will still be plotting.

West is a great military guy. He got screwed politically by the Dems also and he knows what he is talking about.

I am surprised not to see his name anywhere in the transitioning or Cabinet or personnel decisions.

Oh well, here is his advisory to Trump.

  11. Mr Trump is as “innocent as a dove and wise as a serpent”. These two months are his opportunity to spend one-on-one time with a man whose inability to keep quiet led to his staff restricting his public statements to those typed into a tele-prompter by someone else.

The President’s calendar-keeper scheduled 15 minutes for the meeting to save President Obama from any awkwardness or confrontations by Mr Trump. But Mr Trump was genuinely interested in listening to President Obama talk, and the President enjoyed himself so much that 90 minutes passed before he realized it.

A few more such meetings in which Mr Trump asks for “counsel” about this or that, and President Obama will have no more secrets left about his future plans, or the people who are involved in implementing them. With Mr Trump’s new hotel just across the street, impromptu chats will be easy to facilitate.

  12. Dictator Obama has not nor ever will act like an adult. He is a classic case of arrested development. Can’t wait to see the news clips of Dictator Obama and the hulking First Entitlement Queen, Moochelle skulking out of the White House come January.

This election was basically an exorcism being performed on the country.

  13. I saw the photos of the White House staff looking all glum after the Trump family left. They must have been high on the idea of welcoming Hillary — but if they had read anything about how she treats her underlings they would have been dancing in relief.

  14. I’m insulted, Keith, that you mention that “they both acted like adults.” I expect that of Mr. Trump. He is an international businessman and thus has wide experience. You may not agree with his New York tweeting side, but really, did you think he was going to piss on the carpet or punch Prez?

Obama is the one who has behaved like a spoiled boy these past 8 years. I wonder if he now regrets being disrespectful of the privilege he was given.
