As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Trump Contradicts Himself on Japan Nukes

Every time Donald Trump contradicts himself, his flacks say, Oh, we’re having a discussion, he’s bringing up important points.

Well, the only person he’s having a discussion with is himself, because he is speaking before having bothered to think the issue through.

“They said I want Japan to nuke, I want Japan to get nuclear weapons. Give me a break,” Trump said Wednesday night.

Actually, he has repeatedly suggested Japan might be better off with nuclear weapons. “Maybe they would in fact better off if they defend themselves from North Korea  . . . including with nukes, yes, including with nukes” he said recently on Fox News Sunday.

Sure hope he spends more time taking briefings after he is president.

  1. I don’t see that as a “flip-flop” at all.
It sounds to me as though he is using critical thinking.
NK is the unknown here, they are the threat, not Japan.
And they are ruled by a complete nutjob.
Japan has every right to defend itself.

  2. Here’s the thing – unlike all of the political drones that we’re used to hearing read from a script or from the teleprompter, MrTrump speaks from the heart and off the cuff.
Sure, he’s going to say something odd, or at odds for what he said before, but even that is refreshing to the voters who are tired of being manipulated.
He once said that he could kill someone on the street and not lose a single voter – well, he’s right.

  3. Hillary may face indictment over e-mail scandal.
Chap who set up Hillarys server joins Lerner and pleads the 5th.
Head of VA says wait time to see doctor isn’t any worse than waiting in line at Disney World
Barry flips out bad mouthing Trump, Bill Clinton says “white unemployed non college educated”are Trump supporters.
So Trump re-thinks about Japan or changes his mind, and THATS big news?
Just another media hit job. I DON’T CARE!

  4. OT: Interesting comment from Camille Paglia on Hillary Clinton’s e-mail mess:

“If it were a Republican in the crosshairs, Hillary’s shocking refusal to meet with the Inspector General (who interviewed all four of the other living Secretaries of State of the past two decades) would have been the lead item flagged in screaming headlines from coast to coast. Let’s face it—the genuinely innocent do not do pretzel twists like this to cover their asses.”

    Ain’t that the truth.

  5. The truth is, realistically, that no American president is going to be able to prevent any country from weaponizing whatever it wishes. If China has nukes, then Japan will need them too. They probably all already have weapons even worse that we have never heard of.

I don’t “blame” President Obama for Iran and NK “getting” nukes – I blame him for sending a social worker to lead the negotiations with them that resulted in the USA giving them lots of money while pretending it was about keeping them from making bombs, and deceiving the American public about it all.

At the very least, with President Trump, the person sitting at the table making deals is less likely to be an elite Planned Parenthood/Fannie Mae social worker, and the person writing the reports about it is less likely to be a novelist of curious pedigree and no previous experience who brags about his success at deceiving Congress and the public.
