As of now, I am in control here, in the White House

Hiring Slowed in August

Hiring slowed last month as employers added 173,000 jobs, according to the Department of Commerce, perhaps just a bit ahead of the number needed to keep pace with population growth.

The slackening growth now makes it unclear whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates as it had been expected to do in September.

Nevertheless, the unemployment rate declined to the lowest rate since 2008, dropping two tenths of a point to 5.1 percent.

Economists had expected an increase of about 220,000 jobs, which had been about the average for the year.

The labor force  participation rate remained at historic lows, with only 62.6 percent of Americans working or looking for work.

“The labor force participation rate remained stable,” said White House Council of Economic Advisors Chairman Jason Furman, as if that were a good thing.

Another example of this Admin trying to make a Silver Lining out of a Sow’s Ear!!!

  2. Seasonal jobs are ending and kids going back to school probably weighs in on job numbers too ?

Yet I keep seeing serious shortages for teachers and law enforcement officers. Wonder why? Heh.

    • The Pope will say mass in WDC in Spanish.

I am Catholic. I am an American. I speak English. If the Pope wants to come here and say mass say it in English or Latin . If he wants to say it in Spanish go to a Spanish speaking country, like Mexico or Spain.

      • The Pope will visit Cuba before coming to the US. When they put cameras on him during his speech a photo of Che will clearly be visible. There is speculation Castro, Inc. will round up the dissidents and not let them near the Pope.

When Kerry spoke there recently the US let Castro, Inc. pick the reporters who were present. Needless to say reporters unfriendly to Castro, Inc. were not invited.

        • And dissidents or opposition writers were not invited onto Embassy grounds, US soil, for the ceremony.

All this bff stuff with dictators disallows this government to stand for human rights and freedom throughout the world.

But then again they keep chipping away at it here too.

Sort of like an obese person saying “Well, at least I didn’t get any fatter last month”.

  4. Can’t believe that Trump is running around saying that ‘real’ unemployment is 42% and 93M people are unemployed in this country!

According to Bloomberg, if 93 million people were out of work, the unemployment rate would be 59 percent. The actual number of unemployed Americans who are part of the 157M person labor force (as of July) — that’s Americans who aren’t disabled, retired or children — is around eight million. Not 93 million.

    Is he serious???
