CNN Clears a Path for Fiorina in the Debate

After weeks of pressure, CNN changed its debate criteria in a way that may allow Carly Fiorina on the primetime stage when the network hosts the second Republican debate September 16..

From CNN:

CNN reevaluated its criteria and decided to add a provision that better reflects the state of the race since the first Republican presidential debate in August, the network announced Tuesday.

Now, any candidate who ranks in the top 10 in polling between August 7 and September 10 will be included.

This means that candidates qualifying under the old criteria – which included earlier polls – as well as those in the top ten from August 7 until September 10 will be in, meaning more than ten candidates may take the stage.

  1. War on Women! ……oh, it’s the Repubs who are accused of that, not the Dem MSM such as CNN.
It’s just killing the MSM and the elites from both parties that someone like Ms Carly, The Doctor, and The Donald have trashed their careful rules and protocols designed to keep outliers such as this group from being on any stage.

The poobahs of the AFL-CIO have been strangly shy in announcing their favorite who would get their massive backing in this race. The only candidate who has promised to rebuild our infrastructure and put Americans back to work (union dreams) is – MrTrump.
In this topsy-turvy presidential race, could we see the major labor unions back someone not a Dem?

  2. Good for Carly standing up for herself. Now let’s hope this doesn’t become on of those “be careful what you wish for…” moments.

It is good to have a woman, a black doctor, Trump on that stage — maybe some Dems will consider what their options are in comparison.

  3. I’ve just been over on thehill.com, and boy is there a lot of Carly hate in the comment boards! of course, the hill is kind of a fever swamp anyway, but many people were calling her a crybaby and a whiner. (if Hillary had done something similar they’d be calling her a “fighter.”)

Carly is not well known enough–and she’s not controversial enough–to inspire such hatred. so I have to believe that this is part of an astroturf campaign…which in turn makes me believe that “they” are worried about her.

    heh heh heh.

    • Same stuff over and over…and over and over. Trump not folding as some said, the masses mad as hell (boy did that screenwriter birth a movement), outsiders killing it, etc etc. And each time–they hold up these deathless observations as fresh, insightful, brilliant.

  4. Having 11 is too many. The candidate will have time just to do sound bits. It would be better to have about 4 of them set around a round table and let some regular citizen ask them questions. They could spend 10-15 minutes to explain their position. Fiorina is one of the ones I follow. I’d like to see more of what she has to say.

    • Added a Provision. What exactly was the provision that they were allowed to add?
Ot: Lt Col Peters on Fox said the lastest Drone on Isis in Syria ia not enough. If we do not use Max force they win.
