How Can We Trust Obama on Iran When He Was So Wrong About Syria?

Just a few years ago, President Obama said the time for talking was done, and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad must go.

The future of Syria must be determined by its people, but President Bashar al-Assad is standing in their way. His calls for dialogue and reform have rung hollow while he is imprisoning, torturing, and slaughtering his own people. We have consistently said that President Assad must lead a democratic transition or get out of the way. He has not led. For the sake of the Syrian people, the time has come for President Assad to step aside.

Several months later, Obama’s then-Press Secretary, the Prince of Prescience Jay Carney, said Assad was finished – through, done, I tell ya.

The fact of the matter is that the pressure on Assad continues to intensify. He’s been — he has dwindling financial resources. He has dwindling access to what he needs to continue to govern. His regime has lost control of parts of the country. There are a number of indications of the desire to depart from the regime by senior Syrian government and military officials. These are telltale signs that Assad’s future is very limited at best.

And we continue to work with the international community to do everything we can to enhance the pressure on him, to make it clear to everyone that they should not want to place a bet on the Assad regime because that is a losing bet — and it is a losing bet in pure realpolitik terms, but it’s also a losing bet, obviously, in terms of being on the right side of the people of Syria.

Well that was three years ago. If you bet on Assad, you won.

Now, Secretary of State John Kerry wants to negotiate.

But how can you negotiate with someone who isn’t there? Oh, wait, he is still there.

Now the same people who brought you the demise of Assad are bringing you the fully verifiable deal that will keep Iran from gaining nuclear weapons.

Place your bets! Except this time, your gambling with your life.

  1. Remember Keith, keep it simple. Headline should have been “How can we trust Obama?”. Then you can just reuse it any time he does anything!

  2. This is the same Iran that last month it’s jet fighters were pretending to take down a US aircraft carrier.

As usual, we know our enemies motives, but what are Obama’s?

The Chinese, Russia, and The EU want to do business with Iran. Once Obama goes straight to the UN to undo sanctions, and they approve, the US will have no leverage.

The only winners Iran, China, and Russia.

  3. Negotiate? Being a lowly folk from fly-over country, I can’t imagine what the US will negotiate about/over/? with a brutal dictator who hasn’t yet invited Mr & MrsO to his country for a vacation.
Perhaps a novel trade agreement where we promise to buy Syrian-made autos or solar energy products, or maybe some new immigrant policy wherein we welcome all the undesirables deemed by the Assad regime.

The possibilities are endless for SoSKerry to make himself loved around the world of ruthless dictators.

  4. The Obama regime is on the verge of overthrowing their arch enemy, Bibi Netanyahu. Iran will welcome him with open arms and play him like a fine violin.

    • I fear that’s exactly what is happening here. Is this part of Obama’s negotiations with the Ayatolahs in Iran–to help overthrow Bibi to get him out of the way? Is this why Obama’s political campaign gurus were dispatched to Israel? I don’t even want to think about the possible answer.

      • Determination by everyone. I am convinced.
The everyone, Who is he speaking of? All nations, all American citizens? Determination should have been used at the get go!
I just got finished doing two hours of grass work and pressure washing the sidewalk. I experienced real determination when I kept sweeping the dirty water into the grass. I didn’t give up, the water kept coming back my way, and I pushed it over and over. I did not let it sit there and let go away all by itself. If I would have done that, it would started making the cement dirty again. Please don’t make fun of my example. :)
I used this example because everything this crew of one step behind does or does not do, I feel a middle school child could figure out better choices.

  5. Speaking of Kerry and his current hysterical blathering about the Cotton letter to the Iranians (“It’s undermining the negotiations!” “It’s unprecedented!” “I’ve never seen anything like it!”–yes, he’s made all these statements), we remember when Kerry himself traveled to Paris to negotiate with the North Vietnamese in 1971.

It was at the height of the Vietnam War, Nixon was trying to move toward an end of the war. But Kerry as a leading member and SPOKESPERSON of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, was, as a CIVILIAN, not yet a politician, meeting with the North Vietnamese all over the place. Why? To insure the North Vietnamese Communists would be able to move into South Vietnam and control the country after the war. Obviously, Kerry had no authority whatsoever to negotiate with the enemy of the United States. Kerry better be damned careful who he accuses of treasonous behavior.

    • Thanks for the article. Someone had posted an article on this the other day. Let’s see who will be the first news station to remind a lot of younger people of this meeting. Don’t hold your breath.

  6. “How Can We Trust Obama…” Mr. Koffler

You need not go any further than that. Obama is demonstrably dishonest and wholly, irredemably, self-servingly untrustworthy in any definition of the word that concerns what’s good…for THIS country.

Now, if you want to talk about what’s good for radical Isalm, well, now, he CAN be trusted to do the right thing by Jihadi standards…

  7. not only that, Keith, but we’re using the same negotiating team that handled the North Korea nuclear negotiations.

and if memory serves…North Korea went nuclear.

    so yeah.

  8. The answer is simple: You can’t trust Obozo about ANYTHING.

“President” Obama has raped and shredded the United States Constitution, has broken more laws than can be counted and yet NOTHING has been done to stop him!

Obama is a fraud, a liar, a cheat, and a thief; he is anti-American, anti-US Constitution, anti-Christian, he knows nothing about American history or the Bible. He is in the pocket of George Soros (as is Hillary Clinton who is a great Soros supporter) and is dedicated to the destruction of America.

If Obama thinks that people in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks (no, Obama, that’s NOT in the Bible) then Obama should look to himself.

Why our fraud of a “president” is still in office ASTOUNDS me.
