  1. Whether alone or with family, rich, poor or in between, if you’re living this day in the United States of America you already have more blessings than over 6 billion plus of your fellow earthlings.
Happy Thanksgiving all, may your blessings be many and your troubles few.

    • This is the absolute truth. I often give thanks that since I was destined to be born a woman, I am so thankful that it was in this country and not in the Middle East. I say “often” because news stories almost daily give me pause to reflect.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving Day to Keith, and all my fellow White House Dossierer’s (is that a word). Enjoy the day with whom ever you have chosen to be with, whether it is family, friends, strangers, or just your self.

For me, I am thankful for having made it through another year, a furnace after three years without one, wonderful friends, a fantastic family, and the gift of having two terrific dogs, three crazy indoor cats, and two world class hunter outdoor cats (yes, I am becoming that crazy cat guy that everyone knows).

I hope all of you have a great day today, and as for me, I am spending it with an “adopted” daughter, and we are having a contest to see who can make the world’s best turkey sandwich.

God bless all of you (I feel like that kid from Scrooge). And God bless and save the Republic!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Have a wonderful day with the family. The kids will remember forever. That brings me to all our family members we hold dear in our hearts and miss. All the Thanksgivings bring back memories of everyone on each side of my family.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! And yes, I am thanking GOD – just in case anyone wonders! ;-)
I am thankful to be in my “forever home” here on earth.
I am thankful for running water that is drinkable straight from the tap.
I am thankful for fresh, clean, cold air.
I am thankful for an electric clothes dryer.
I am thankful for my dogs and so very thankful they are with me at home.
I am thankful I had the foresight to buy enough “fixins” for four pies since the first two I made were not up to standard.
I am thankful for this life that God has seen fit to give me – and I am grateful for the living of it.
I am deeply thankful for His loving kindness and His mercy and grace.
“For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that wait etch for him.” Isaiah 64:4 KJV

  5. Not to ruin TGD but this actually happened — re. Obama and the turkeys. First he “blessed” them with the sign of the cross — is he a Reverend now in some black church or is this common for every President — and, of course, his requisite slap in the face to America, quipping “some people might call this amnesty”….

    Big sigh.

    • I found the use of the Sign of the Cross to pardon turkeys offensive. I doubt he would use a non-Christian religious symbol, practice in this manner. But I have no doubt he would criticize someone else who did.

And he is such a good Christian he used the wrong hand (left)!

          • And probably the Orthodox too. The 2 or 3 finger thing goes to the very heart of why the Orthodox and Catholics divorced. It has to do with the nature of the Holy Spirit: the Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit descends from the Father and Son while the Orthodox believe that the Son and Holy Spirit both come directly from the Father.

Now I don’t want to get into an argument over that coming from an Orthodox family and being married to a Catholic! It’s beyond sad that millions of people have died because of that silly, little quibble. Oh well, it was probably a pretext to go to war over underlying tribal causes.

        • Left = Sinister – “from Middle English sinistre (“unlucky”), from Old French sinistra (“left”), from Latin sinestra (“left”) comes the word sinister.

One definition of Sinister: “Attended by or causing disaster or inauspicious circumstances.”

    • Obama’s such a dork. Not ruining my Tgiving. :)

Bird’s in the oven, house smells yummy, watching a little of the Macy’s parade remembering Balloon Holder is still on my bucket list :D

    • I was wondering about his use of the sign of the cross. Is that how turkeys are pardoned? I don’t know if he always does that or if it is something new he invented since he didn’t have a pen and phone handy. I did notice the sullen girls, who never laughed at his jokes. Guess he will have to play video golf this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all… Grateful we have survived 6 yrs so far of this administration and that there truly is an end in sight.

    • Yeah–I saw that crossing–guess it wasn’t in his morning paper that last yr some found this irksome. Also he made a crack about being within his legal authority. The man is not funny–have I mentioned that.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
And now . . . my mouth dropped open last night while watching Hannity when he had the Lt. Gov. of MO on. They both discussed that while the police chiefs and mayor in Ferguson were trying to get in touch with Gov. Jay Nixon all night Monday to get the National Guard activated and said Gov. could not be reached, it turns out now that said Gov. was on the phone with Valerie Jarrett most of the night. This is going to be very interesting, and the Lt. Gov. warned employees of Nixon not to tamper with any e-mails which passed between the WH and the Governor’s Mansion. Or wherever Nixon was. He wasn’t at a command post.

The only confirmation I could find last night was a story on Breitbart, but I am about to start my search again now. A bombshell imho.

    • So, once again, Valerie Jarrett calling the shots! The Governor put the lives and property of his state citizens in peril.

I suspect the Lt. Governor is going to be vilified in the best Obama fashion. And calling out ValJar? Big stuff.

It’s all very egregious. It seems that Obama is even more evil and bent on civil unrest and destruction than I could have imagined in my worst nightmare. Not that he didn’t want to do it, but that he could actually assemble the forces and structure that would allow him to do it.

Proving the negligence and collusion on the part of the Governor is key. But I think ValJar and Obozo are pleased with the results so far.

Thankful that we can still research and reveal.

And today, I am grateful for all the honest and brave Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders who do keep us safe especially in light of the WH criticism they are receiving across the nation.

      • Unfortunately, this story was released at an opportune moment. You have Thanksgiving, Black Friday and a weekend when the media can ignore story or forget about it. If Nixon should have been caught with his pants down at akk, though, don’t you think it should have been when he was in conversation with Eric Holder or James Comey? Why was Valerie Jarrett the person?

Yes, I’m in agreement with you that we should always be thankful for our police, first responders, and military who protect us.

      • “Not that he didn’t want to do it, but that he could actually assemble the forces and structure that would allow him to do it.”

He didn’t do it. He let his minions in the SEIU, ISM, Media Matters, et cet., do it.

    • Saw that interview also. As of 20 minutes ago, the mayor has STILL has not heard from the Gov. We all surmised that Obama, aka Valerie Jarrett, was micromanaging Ferguson. The people of Ferguson must bring a lawsuit against him for not deploying the NG sooner. If he and Jarrett are forced to testify, the real story will come out. Can’t believe Obama, Holder and Jarrett are getting away with this thuggery! Not to mention the buffoon, Sharpton.

  7. I sometimes forget to be thankful for all of the blessings God has bestowed on me. My friend who just finished tons of electrical work on my old house is an example. My family. My friends. All that I have are gifts from God and I forget to thankful for them.

Happy Thanksgiving Keith and everyone who reads his blog!

    Elaine

  8. I sure wish this Ferguson thing would slowly recede–the WaPo is amping it up with a big attack on McCulloch, There are stories that Wilson won’t apologize to the Brown family (I can’t imagine what he would say–he thinks the man tried to kill him). I don’t think continuing the discussion–so-called–is anything but endless “relitigating.” Maybe some police forces will be weakened..really don’t know what all this accomplishes except to air unseemly, mindless anarchy…and if someone finally does get shot, it will all start up again. See? A white NG guy shot a black man! On and on.

    • Also Jay-Z and that Russell Somebody are calling for a black boycott of all business on Black Friday. What does THAT have to do with anything? Dumb. I doubt it will amt to much. As someone pointed out–it was business and capitalism that made THEM billionaires.

      • I can’t remember where or who but it was probably Fox Business News and the suggestion was that these people instead could have been healers — could have held a fundraising concert in Ferguson for Ferguson rebuild. Instead they do this crap.

    • The AP also continues to amp things up. Yesterday, I saw two separate pieces – one claiming the Grand Jury testimony was “full of inconsistencies” and the other was a sob story about how Michael Brown and his “best friend” simply wanted to enjoy some marijuana that day when things went “horribly wrong.”

      • If you look at the headlines on the Huffington Post this morning, they are still insisting that Michael Brown had his hands up. And people will believe what they want to believe contrary to all evidence.

        • All the protesters here in Downtown Los Angeles have been chanting “Hands up, don’t shoot!” – too stupid to realize that never happened.

  9. I genuinely hope that the Ferguson National Riff Raff that has been unleashed across the nation by the words of Eric Holder, Barackus I, and the Racist Reverend do not mar holiday parades and celebrations across America from which so many Americans get such joy and wonder.

  10. Wishing all a thoughtful Thanksgiving Day. As a gift to you all, I offer Lincoln’s Proclamation declaring the last Thursday of November “as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise.”

The document was written by Secretary of State William Seward and was proclaimed October 1863 by President Lincoln. The nation was the middle of the Civil War, and the United States was torn, tired and no one knew when this awful war would end. Yet, Lincoln saw hope, and an opportunity to remind the country to thank Almighty God for the blessings enjoyed by the Nation. I will read it aloud when our family gathers later today for our Thanksgiving dinner, as I do every year. God bless you all.

    • Marcus, I just saw a story on Breitbart that for the past five years Obama has never mentioned God in his Thanksgiving addresses to the nation. (BTW, Breitbart gives the Lincoln and Civil War background of the holiday and specifically speaks of Lincoln’s intention to give thanks to God.)

It interests me because as I commented to someone yesterday, I think Thanksgiving is an American religious holiday which all of us celebrate in spite of our different beliefs. Obama wants to destroy everything, even the handiwork of a President he supposedly models himself on.

      • I agree. Julie. Lincoln, Washington, the Founders and Framers, and men and women who have held important leadership positions in our country, have long recognized the importance of thanking the Almighty for the blessings we have all received.

The current residents in the White House don’t seem to acknowledge that tradition in any credible way. They are more like Druids worshiping earth gods and goddesses, dancing around a pile of stones, hoping global warming and CO2 aren’t the ruin of the world. Yea Gaia. Better not make her mad. She might set off some volcanoes or melt us to teach us a lesson.

  11. I know our thanks today belong to our Maker, but just joshing here. I’m thankful for Chuck U Schumer’s comments on Obamacare and what a mistake it has turned out to be. Ron Fournier thinks he made them to help Hillary Clinton distance herself from Obama, but the lady is not only playing with fire, she’s playing with lightening. The Dems are self destructing.

Wishing everyone a great Thanksgiving! Thought you might want to take a peek at the Obama TG dinner. It’s like ‘have a little turkey with your PIES’! Oh, and yes….the Obama’s pay for their own private meals. Must only be on Holidays!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

President Obama and his family are spending the holiday at the White House, where they’ll dine on the traditional courses, with a hearty helping of pie.

Here’s the menu, as released by the White House press office. (The Obamas pay the tab for their personal meals.)

    Dinner:

    Thyme Roasted Turkey

    Honey-Baked Ham

    Cornbread Stuffing

    Oyster Stuffing

    Braised Winter Greens

    Macaroni and Cheese

    Mashed Potatoes

    Green Bean Casserole

    Dinner Rolls

    Dessert:

    Banana Cream Pie

    Coconut Cream Pie

    Pumpkin Pie

    Apple Pie

    Pecan Pie

    Cherry Pie

  13. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Not to ruin the day, but did you read what Obummer said yesterday during the turkey pardoning? He just couldn’t resist being a snarky little turd:

    http://m.today.com/news/obama-pardons-turkey-cheese-annual-thanksgiving-ritual-1D80319974

Obama took advantage of the occasion to poke some fun at critics of his recently announced immigration policy.

“I am here to announce what I’m sure will be the most talked-about executive action this month,” he said to laughs at the ceremony, which was moved inside the White House because of rain and snow outdoors.

“Today I’m taking an action fully within my legal authority, the same kind of action taken by Democrats and Republican presidents before me to spare the lives of two turkeys, Mac and Cheese, from a terrible and delicious fate.”

“I know some will call this amnesty,” Obama quipped.

  14. As my family prepares to enjoy the blessings provided by God, my thoughts and prayers are for the members of our Armed Services and especially those standing a post in harms way.
    Thank you all.

  15. Why do some (mostly African American) NFL players during the American National Anthem never place their hands on their hearts? Most everyone on the field, standing next them/their own team and in the stadium do…but they just stand there.

  16. Had a lovely dinner with friends. And then, since I am a bit under the weather, other friends have been dropping plates off…..who am I to say anything but thank you.

I have TG dinner samplers — fun –all good stuff. Generous souls my friends.

Now watching Brett Baier interview Krauthammer about his life. I have seen it before. I admire what he has done with his life. And I am intrigued as well about his wife who was a lawyer and then became an artist and as I have heard quite a good one. Right or wrong on certain points, he has a fine mind and is interesting to listen to.

    Anyway — happy happy guys.

    • Grace, I hope you’re feeling better soon.

We saw that Krauthammer special last year. It was very interesting. I might watch it again if they replay it later.

Dinner is all done here. For the second year in a row, we skipped turkey and all the usual sides because no one really loves any of it and it’s just sort of a habit or obligation. Instead, we go simple with rack of lamb (with a delicious rub my mom makes for it), twice baked potatoes, garlic knots, Caesar salad, and an apple pie for dessert. Easy and simple. I don’t know how people manage making a ton of different dishes and eating all that.
