  1. On Thursday, the President will award the Medal of Honor to Army First Lieutenant Alonzo H. Cushing for conspicuous gallantry. In the evening, as part of the “In Performance at the White House” series and the Joining Forces initiative, the President and First Lady will invite music legends, members of the U.S. military, military veterans, and their families to the White House for a celebration of the men and women who serve the United States. The program will be held on the South Lawn.

What a big day for Obummer. Sleep late, ignore the PDF delivered to the iPad, and in the afternoon put in a whole half hour or so pretending to be President. Then, take a nap in advance of the evening party.

As far as that event, he’s just using the troops as an excuse for another big party. This is just another one of their “music series” parties, where all their friends are invited, as well as celebs they want to meet and party with. If they’re having it outside in the tent, that means they’re having a much larger crowd than usual.

I thought it was a bit odd to have a party on Thursday evening right after the election, after he was campaigning all last weekend, and before leaving on Sunday for China. But, I think that based on past behavior, it would not be surprising if Moochelle’s Chicago pals are there so they can sneak off with her on Friday or Saturday for a separate vacation since Obummer will be in Asia and Australia for over a week.

    • My mistake. This is the every held every year in advance of Veteran’s Day, and then aired on PBS:

A Salute to the Troops: In Performance at the White House” is a PBS music special from the South Lawn of the White House. President and Mrs. Obama will host the event on Thursday, November 6, 2014 in advance of Veterans Day and as part of The White House “Joining Forces” initiative, with an all-star tribute to the men and women who serve theUnited States. The concert, which will have a live audience that will include hundreds of members of the military, will feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Common, John Fogerty, Willie Nelson, Romeo Santos, and also active duty military members U.S. Army SGT. Christiana R. Ball, U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Matt Smith and Capt. John Ed Auer. Don Was will be the music director. The production is also working with the USO, for a performance by Daughtry via satellite of their USO concert at Yokota Air Base inJapan, as well as a live-viewing audience of troops from the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir in Virginia— both to be included in the White House concert and the broadcast. (Program subject to change.)

The program, part of the Emmy Award-nominated “In Performance at the White House” series, is the fifty-thirdproduction in the series’ thirty-six years. The sixty-minute television special is produced by WETA Washington, D.C., the flagship public broadcaster in the nation’s capital, in association with AEG Ehrlich Ventures and The GRAMMY Museum®. “A Salute to the Troops: In Performance at the White House” will premiere Friday, November 7 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide, as part of the PBS Fall Arts Festival. (Check local listings.) The program will also be broadcast on November 11, Veterans Day, via the American Forces Network to American service men and women and civilians at U.S. Department of Defense locations around the world.

      • Context is everything ! Thanks SnarkE for putting the whole thing in perspective.

Reading First Lady biographies, I do recognize alot of WH events that the media wants us to think are exclusive to the Obamas’ fine cultural interest and taste. The only thing they do exclusive to them is party, vacay and golf.

      • I seem to remember this concert on PBS in years past (or maybe a July 4th one). The one I saw had Gary Sinise (HUGE supporter of our troops) and had wonderful performances. It was a big deal.

    • This is getting blown out of left field.
Now are the parents of the beheaded American citizens going to be there to question why no one acted sooner on behalf of the sons.

        • We have not forgotten. There is so…….much ugliness to keep up with. That’s why I suggested a long time ago that they need another scroll on the bottom of the news stations. The (Just coming out current news) and The (News that is STILL going on that needs our attention)

    • I am glad to see his here. I saw this last night and I was outraged. Not taking anything from grieving parents, but I don’t think that is what this is.

What really disturbs me is that American citizens are meeting with officials of the US government — DOJ, DHS,Education,DOD and State — in order to appeal to the UN Committee on Torture about this and torture in the US. The UN! Torture! And the US government is going along with this.

The DOJ is going outside US law to an international bofor justice. It is obscene. And especially so since we couldn’t get Obama, Holder, or Kerry let alone DOD or DHS to do anything for Sgt. Tahmoressi. I am absolutely sickened by this and the collusion with the US government.

  2. Good Morning and some breakfast brain food for one and all………
Come January 2016, both Houses will be on the same page or at least they’re supposed to be. One never knows. The #1 issue with voters – is the economy. No one part of the economy works independently of the other. So, my question is: “Will the win put unrealistic pressure on the R’s to fix flat tires, while Obama still owns the keys to the car?” – Veto Powered car.

    1. Caused the prices of groceries and everything else to go up dramatically so companies could cover their ObamaCare obligations.
    2. Fostered even more dependency on government by expanding the food stamp program.
    3. Dared to oppress American citizens with a tax penalty just for being alive and not having health insurance.
    4. Caused millions financial hardship with higher health insurance premiums.
    5. Caused millions hardship with other changes in health insurance.

There’s another 30 reasons at the link http://blurbrain.com/party-karl-marx-lose-badly-want-answers-answers/#LOEGXDaprAQ4stJK.99

  3. President Obama, press conference, November 5, 2014
“All of us have to give more Americans a reason to feel like the ground is stable beneath their feet, that the future is secure, that there is a path for young people to succeed, and that folks here in Washington are concerned about them.
So, I plan on spending every moment of the next two-plus years doing my job the best I can to keep this country safe and to make sure that more Americans share in its prosperity.”

…..in between rounds of golf, of course.

    • Regarding that stable line. This was written the day, possibly week before the election. He is now concerned?
I cringed at every other sentence that was coming out of his mouth.

  4. A bit OT, but relevant to our general discussions: Angus King, Ind. Maine, who had been dropping hints that he might caucus with Republicans, held a press conference yesterday to announce that he would NOT caucus with Republicans.

It would have been a strange political move for him. He’s a soft progressive, votes with the Dem/Obama agenda 96 percent of the time and is a huge supporter of ObamaCare. He was also the recipient of a Green Energy federal grant (over $100 million) from Obama’s Energy Czar to build damned windmills all over the state of Maine, which he did. He owes Obama for that, so the idea he would move to the R’s to caucus struck many of us here as bizarre. He spent years working for Maine Public Television as a hard knuckle liberal before he became governor. There’s a not a Republican/conservative bone in his body.

Here’s a little more about Angus King’s self profiting happy adventures in energy sourcing.

  5. “A salute to the Troops”? Dictator Obama and his democrat communist party thugs give the middle finger salute to our brave troops on a daily basis.

  6. Got to love these questions from the Press………during an interview with Congresswoman Elect Mia Love……….How do you plan on working with Democrats to get things moving in congress ? Really? Work with Democrats? They never asked any Democrat Senator a question like ….Why will your leadership not allow any votes on bills that have pass the House?

The question of the day is will the Democrats clean house of their failed leadership? If they go back to Pelosi and Reid then the next round of Senators up for re-election in 2016 deserve what they get. I have to think Debbie Blabbermouth Shultz is done. She needs to resign her congressional seat completely to allow her district a real representative.

The President tryed to frame the loss because 2/3 did not vote. I wonder if this is going to be he is new mantra that he is doing what the 2/3rd non voters really want?

  7. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  8. Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
